Sounds like gas pain. I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital until I passed gas, which didn't happen until my discharge day. I had the surgery on a Friday and was discharged Sunday and during my stay I walked a lot. Once that happened I felt a lot better and had gas for the next couple of days. Eating and drinking became easier. I am now on day 16 post op and have no problems eating or drinking. My pain level is almost a zero and today I got caught up with the grass mowing and weed wacking with no issues. I would try walking more to get the gas moving and expelled.

Hi Fred. I saw that you are a bypass patient and I read that you are eating and drinking with no issues. I had my surgery 6/26 but I am having a hard time with food. It still hurts when I eat stuff and was wondering were you experiencing any of that. Sometimes liquids hurt as well. I know everyone heals differently but this is going into 6 weeks for me and literally scared to eat cause I'm afraid I will hurt

  2. Hi all. I am 5 weeks out and it is still very difficult for me to eat meat... Foods in general. Funny how I use to love food but now I'm afraid to eat due to the fact that I'm scared it's gonna hurt. Not sure if this is normal but seems alot of things hurts when It gets in my pouch and it discourages me to really eat.

    GERD IS an illness.

I never said it wasn't. You mentioned that you felt bypass was for people who had alot of illness if I understood your post. I just specified that I didn't have all the illnesses that most have. I don't know you but you seem so hell bent on trying to check people are put people in their places when it's not called for. My post was encouraging to everyone not for anyone to try to find something to try and make a person feel bad about it. You made a lot of comments and I'm making mind. As I said i am not knocking either and we all share a common goal which is to be smaller. I hope your journey is going well and have a Awesome week.

  4. Well I had the bypass on June 26th. I was only 242 and is now 222. The comment about it being for more people with illness is incorrect I feel. My ONLY issue was that I suffered from GERD.No diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, thyroid, varicose veins, etc. My Dr recommended that I had the bypass to cure the GERD which I have not suffered with anymore. I honestly feel the choice is based on you and what your Dr recommends. Everyone body heals differently so that's the tell tale side of it. I've heard issues from both bypass and sleeve patients but I wouldn't knock 1 of the other. At the end of the day you have to be happy with your choice and learn to adopt to your new digestive system and stomach. We all share a common goal so lets be encouraging about it. I'm struggling with it emotionally but this is just 5 weeks for me and im sure it will get better. I truly wish everyone many blessing on their journey and can't wait to hear how you and your husband are doing post op! !!!

I had my surgery 7 weeks ago and I have lost 20 pounds but it seemed like a struggle to lose that much. I lost 67 on my own before my surgery & I was happy with what I was seeing on the scale but since the surgery I will lose 2 pounds one day then maybe 1 pound two days later, after that I might go a whole week and no weight lose. I try to exercise 5-6 days a week. I walk, ride the bike, elliptical & some weight training. I try to watch my calorie & carb intake & I don't eat more than 800 calories. Why I don't have the big weight loss like others?

I feel your pain. I had my surgery on June 26th and haven't lost but 20 also. My surgery weight was 242 and one im 222. Been at 222 for 4 days now...I want the big loss too!!!!

Personally, if I lost my job today due to layoff or termination, I have enough money saved to live on for the next 5 years without working. This doesn't even include the funds in my 401k and IRA.

Due to being raised in a paycheck-to-paycheck household by parents who often mismanaged household finances, I learned firsthand what not to do with money at an early age.

I'm a good saver. I also have no children, so I have no cash outlays for pricey kid necessities such as daycare, toys, clothes, school supplies, diapers, lunches, etc. My lifestyle is also low-key with a starter home, two used cars (read: no car payment), occasional fine dining, and a couple of yearly vacations.

Meanwhile, I've considered an arm lift (brachioplasty) in Monterrey, Mexico. I may or may not get it. I'll make up my mind in a year or two. The rest of my body is fairly toned.

LOL you can adopt me and help me with my Tummy Tuck lol!!!!

Absolutely beautiful in both pics!! But you are definitely getting smaller! Great work so far!!

I originally lost 100 pounds (I had lap band in 2009), but due to various things (a car accident, nerve pain due to spinal injuries, stress, depression, yadda, yadda, yadda...), I gained 45 pounds over the course of a year (2014). Since then I've been trying to lose it. It's been a hard road, but I'm now only 10 pounds away from my original low of 235 (At surgery, I started at 335). I'm thinking of having my band converted to a sleeve because I'm close to 10 years post op and bands only last so long (though I foolishly didn't realize that at the time I self paid for the damn surgery).

Anyway, my point is, I never really realized just how much smaller I was at my lowest until I gained weight and looked back at pictures... I was like, "DAAAAANG!!!! I looked GEEEEWWWWDDDDDDD!!" This time around, I'm trying my best to notice my changes. I have a feeling once I get rid of all this extra skin, it will be a bit easier to really feel the difference. But for now, I'm still grateful that I no longer have diabetes or a fatty liver and I'm off all medications (including depression and anxiety meds) except birth control and I fit in seats and I have more energy and I'm immensely happier! Enjoy your changes! You all look wonderful!!

Thank you. I am sure you can do it. I am happy that you are doing well. The crazy thing is I still feel so unsure about the surgery. I'm just not in a happy place with it and feel maybe I need to seek counseling. I'm still struggling with what I can eat. Things like what is not gonna hurt when I swallow or not make me vomit. It's also hard for me with the sipping verses to regularly drinking... That's a biggie for me. I think my taste buds are jacked up too. I will just be so happy when my dark days has left and I can feel like a human being again. I have been questioning if this was a mistake daily. Just feeling so down about this.

I take a monthly picture or when I go to the Dr. I can't always see a difference but my husband and friends can. I am down 67 lbs since June 2016. I had the sleeve on Dec 5th. Keep up the good work!

I had RNY April 19th and have lost 108lbs and while I know I have lost weight I still don't see it. I agree that after being overweight for so long and being so used to seeing myself that way I don't know when my brain will catch up to my loss but it will at some point..... I have one pic pre surgery and will take one at a year out and then another at goal

Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes maybe that is what I am going through with seeing me as the overweight person for so long. I can't hold out a year without pics lol. I am hoping to get about 65 more pounds off and then i will be at my goal weight. How much more do you want to loose within a year? I pray it works out and im happy for your progress

I could not see the weight come off as much when I lost 23 lbs but other people did.
I am 4 months post op and lost 65 lbs so far. I really see it. I exercise at gym at least 4 times a week. I do Water aerobics as well. I had knee replacement in one knee 2 yrs before surgery and needed knee surgery in other knee for meniscus and arthritis. My knees feel so great now that the weight is coming off. I don't need surgery. I walk like a new person.
I had the sleeve Done March 10 2017.
So things will get better. Enjoy the journey to a new you!.

Thank you for the encouragement. I'm so ready to be where you are. I'm happy your knees have improved too. I know that's a blessing in itself!!!

Same for me. I'm still wearing my size 16 clothes but they aren't as snug as before. I've lost 24 pounds but didn't really notice it except for under my breasts, like where my liver is. Other people have noticed. I think another 10-20 pounds and I'll really feel it....I hope! The weight isn't flying off like I thought it would but I think that's good. Healthier on the body and since I didn't tell many people about the surgery it will seem more natural. It also says a lot for how overweight I was... don't notice 24 pounds ... on a normal weight person that would be very drastic. What I have noticed is the increased energy! I'll take that!

Yesssss that is definitely me. Still wearing size 16. I was so worried about rapid weight loss but that's not the case even though I am happy that within 4 weeks I am down 19 pounds. I guess for me I am ready to be happy about the surgery because thus far I am not. I am struggling so hard emotionally and mentally about the surgery now. Seems everything is hard for me. I don't have energy however. That's a big issue for me. I'm always tired and have no energy or motivation to do anything but hopefully all this turn around.

This is me in the red. Started at 300 lbs and last checked, 269 lbs at time of picture on July 4th.

If my husband hasn't taken picture, I wouldn't have noticed. I look like a "Bobble Head." Hubby was like, "Babe, look at your neck," Lol.

CONGRATULATIONS and tell him to stop that!!! You don't look like a Booble Head. I'm ready to be where you are so I can see it. This journey has been a hard 1 thus far but it's only 4 weeks old so I guess I have to develop some patience. This is me now

That is totally a normal thingy. For sure. Most of us have been heavy for so long that we still see the fat one when we look at ourselves. I'm 4 years out and as long as I don't look in the mirror (full Length mirror) I am ok. This is the time to measure yourself That is a mus. I didn't and am so sorry I didn't. Also take pictures, take them in a door because with seeing yourself like that you can really tell. I am also very guilty of not taking pictures. You know some of us are photogenic and some of us are not. I am the are nots. Good Luck in your journey and keep us posted on your success!!!

    Hi Sherrie

Thank you for sharing. Taking a pic in a door is definitely a good idea. All I have so far is just face pics but not a full body to compare. Im so ready to be able to see it and feel good about it. You ate so right..all I see if the 242 pounds me before surgery.

For me, when I hit 30 lbs. it was noticeable. I also wear a lot of clothes with give, so they fit me for quite awhile. Now that I am about to hit a 60 lb. loss, I can absolutely tell, and half of my clothes look funny on me (bag ladyish ;))

Hi. Thank you for sharing. Im glad to know that its not just me. People keep telling me that after 10 pounds I should have noticed a difference but I don't. Only difference i see is my face slimming down. I guess I had 19 pounds of fat in my face lol !

  15. Hi Everyone,

I am wondering if any of you have lost weight post surgery but doesn't see it or feel a difference in your clothes? I had Gastric Bypass on June 26th. The day of surgery I was 242 pounds. Yesterday I went to my post op appointment and is now 223 pounds. I am down 19 pounds but I don't see it or feel a difference with my clothes. Is there anyone experiencing this????

Have u tried GENEPRO Protein mix? I can't do Protein drink either and GENEPRO is flavorless and doesn't change the consistency of the drink. I mix mine in my coffee every morning.. it will take some time to figure out what u can eat and not eat.. I couldn't drink Water up until like a week ago.. I live off of chicken salad, tuna, fish and shrimp lol

No i haven't but I am definitely gonna lool for it. I think I am going to be the same way. My birthday is in 2 weeks and I was thinking I would be good to eat regularly but my realization of that happening has hit home that this is not going to go like I would like it to be. So 11 days post surgery were you loosing or nothing

I think it's a little early to say you are stalling.... I did not have much movement for at Lars yet 2-3 weeks after surgery. Don't weigh yourself for a week or so & see what happens!

Thank you dear. You are always so encouraging and giving me that extra push. Are you sure you wouldn't consider it a stall... I haven't lost a y weight since surgery week and I think that was because I was hurting so badly so I wasn't drinking or anything

I used Pedia Lax and it worked well. I've stalked but I'm not sweating it because I'm doing the right things plus I'm lifting weights. Be patient and stay the course. My surgery was 6 weeks ago and I'm still trying to figure out what to eat for breakfast so I just drink Protein Shakes.

Thank you. I am gonna look tomorrow for it. I'm trying my best to stay on course as well as encouraged

I'm about all "shake" out. I begin week#6 Next Tuesday. I'm making a grocery list for tomorrow.

I plan to try flavored oatmeal, canned salmon, grits. . .

Hi.. I'm a little lost with eating myself. I can't do the Protein Shakes cause they make me sick and liquids don't fill me up. I am always hungry. I did cheat and ate something I wasn't and ended up miserable and eventually had to vomit it up
