Am I the only one who gets annoyed by the question Why?

This is the reason I only told my husband and no one else. Some people are so judgemental. I worked with someone who had bariatric surveys way before I did and saw how she was treated and talked about. I learned my lesson then.

How did you guys do on your pre op diet?

Preop was the hardest part of this journey for me. Sleeved on July the 28th 2017. Honestly I had philosophize the whole process to stay sane. I had to remind myself that there are plenty of people in the world who, through no fault or choice of their own, go for days without food or with very little to eat. Here I was with access to shakes, veges, and clean water and I was complaining. That kept me focused. I just reminded myself the preop will not kill me.

    Advice

We never win with people's opinions. When we are overweight we are called names, when we lose weight we are called names. You look beautiful and keep losing if that is your goal. As long as your doctor says you are within healthy limits, keep losing. I can only see a gorgeous human in this picture.

Counting weight loss from pre-op vs. Post-op

You can say that again. Preop emotionally broke me down! I take credit for that time.
  5. As a clinician I would suggest a referral to an endocrinologist if you have a history of hypos during intense workout. Maybe he/she can work out peak times of your insulin levels and possibly have you work out during those times.

    You look so gorgeous !

    Food supplement

Please don't be tempted to cheat. It's too early and not worth it. Talk to your dietitian for suggestions.

    Relationships

I have heard similar stories about the statistics of divorce post WLS. My experience has been I am more horny after surgery and my husband is very happy about that. We had to leave church early today after I told him I had to get laid within the hour.

Please any advice would be great

Rach, just stay on the plan from your surgeon. I am experiencing a stall as well 7 weeks post op. I have read from posts here and I hear it is normal after such a huge initial weight loss like Berry said. I have lost a total of 30pounds between pre op and now. I keep reassuring myself that I would not have lost that much weight without the surgery. I am also hoping that the scales start moving for me too.

Best NSV so far! Dexa scan results!

Oh wow!! You look like you don't have excess skin at all. Fabulous! Your starting body type looks somewhat similar like mine except I have a huge behind which Is frustrating to me. I would be very happy to have such an amazing result.

You look gorgeous! If you don't mind me asking, did you do plastics. I am in the early stages of losing and not sure how much loose skin I will have. Just thinking ahead.

    Pain and regrets

Pain is what the patient says it is. You are the one feeling this pain and people here who have gone through this type of surgery believe you. Some have more pain than others. Our body types are different. It gets better though. Give it a few more days. Again, some people regret after the surgery but the benefits will outweigh these initial teething problems. Hope you feel better soon Dominique. You have done the hard part already.

Has anyone had surgery in Istanbul, Turkey?

She says everything went well. No complications.

Has anyone had surgery in Istanbul, Turkey?

I follow a lady on Facebook called Sibel Orka who had hers done in Turkey.

    Water!!

At first water tastes funny. I hated drinking the first glass they gave me.

    Non supportive support system

Some people do not understand obesity. If it was a matter of eating veges, we wouldn't have this disease. Our brains do not work that way. I can share with you that getting sleeved was the only thing that put me on the way back to being healthy. I still have ways to go but I have lost a chunk of weight already. Prior to surgery I tried every diet known to google that any clown put on the Internet and nothing worked.

How long before you wore jeans etc

It took me about 2 weeks because my big incision was a bit tender for a while.
  19. Killian I second what you said 100%. Only my husband knows. Like you, I did not want to be a topic of discussion at all times. I also work with some very opinionated women. You should have seen them when I drank an optifast shake in their presence during my preop! All hell broke loose because they only saw me drinking 1 shake. I ended up having my shakes in my office for the duration I was required to. I can only imagine how much I would have been bombarded with "expert" advice had I shared with them I was getting sleeved. I might have had to move countries to get away from them.

    Just cannot eat

I have been very fortunate to have a completely complication free surgery and recovery. I am 4 weeks post. I was doing well for three weeks progressing through the stages of my diet. I just started on soft. I am not nauseated but I am now completely put off by the thought of food. I am not hungry at all to the point that I am getting weak from not eating. I am keeping up with my water intake. I cannot drink shakes anymore because I had enough of them beginning preop to post op. If I see one more shake I will scream. While I am happy and grateful that I am not hungry, I just wish I could find some protein rich soft food that I can eat enough to have some energy. Does anybody have ideas or is it just a phase that will pass?

    So tired

If your body is not ready, consider taking some days off. Our bodies adjust differently to the very low calorie diet we are on for the first few weeks. Listen to your body and do what is best for you.

    H-Pylori Treatment Nightmare!!!!

For me the amoxicillin is what made me feel nauseated. So I took it last each dose with food.

    Laziness, guilt, and dread

Sorry that you are feeling this way. You have already done the hardest part, making the decision to get surgery. After you have this surgery, you will have better quality of life. It is common for some people to start second guessing their decision but stay strong. Could it be your husband's decision is because of some fears since you have never had surgery? You seem to have a strong support system with your family. To share my experience, I was sleeved July 28, 2017. I haven't thrown up even 1 day. I had pain up to 2 days post op that's all. With social gatherings, I am finishing my soft phase. I don't go out when I was on purée but now when I eat at social gatherings, I just what I can eat. I feel full afterwards and don't even crave for food . Your stomach will teach you. Hope all goes well for you.

I don't know if I am making the right decision

I am obese and had a BMI of 41 with no diagnosed health issues at the time of my surgery. I got sleeved July 28, 2017 because I knew it was a matter of time before I got diagnosed with serious health issues. As a clinician myself, I knew what was waiting for me healthwise. Your parents are voicing their opinion from a place of concern and I can understand their fears. However, you have to consider your personal circumstances in making this decision. With regards to that dietician's opinion, that is just that, an opinion. Does she have data to support her claims? Sit down with a bariatric surgeon to get more information and make a medically informed decision. Hope all goes well for you.

    Surgery yesterday

Unless it is the optifast tomato soup if you want a "tomato " kick. I could digest that better. Real tomatoes would be hard to process at this stage.
