  1. Lol! Overachiever! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  2. I ate filet at the lone star at 4 weeks- my surgeon said I could try it. I chewed it to bits and it was amazing! Super juicy and tender. Only ate less than half of the smallest one and had the same amount leftover the next day. I had no trouble at all. I wouldn't eat it all the time but it sure was yummy! I've also been eating grilled chicken, ground beef in spaghetti sauce, tuna fish and chicken salad. I had a starkist pouch tonight- I got a variety pack of 2.5 oz of tuna. I had the lemon pepper and it was great. I shouldn't have eaten the whole thing though- I'm waiting now for it to digest so I won't be uncomfortable- not pain so much, just "ugh I shouldn't have had that last bite" I will say my recovery has been super. My surgeon didn't have me on a purée phase. I had soft foods on day 5 and at 2 weeks added tuna, ground beef and chicken salad, the next week I added the chicken breasts. Every protocol seems different. Good luck! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  3. I read the forums and comment when I feel like it- reading others posts and connecting with them will build your relationships on the site. I cruise the forums when I'm bored or want to eat something. I've made some friends that ways I have only told a few people about my surgery so here is where I connect with people who understand what I'm going through or who can help celebrate the little accomplishments. So - that said, welcome! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  4. I'd have it checked out- I'm 5 weeks out and all of my incisions are healed well. I never had anything looking like this even at the beginning. Please have it checked out. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  5. One-Derful news!!!!! Keep up your hard work! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  6. I'm definitely going to confirm it with my surgeon. I remember him saying that I didn't have any medicine restrictions like my husband has (he had RNY). I have an appointment in a couple of weeks so I will ask him and post back. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  7. Lots of typos sorry- he said 130! Not 139 Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  8. When I saw my pcp we talked about a healthy weight for me. I am short and busty. When I wa son my 30's I got to 155 and was in a size 10- my surgeon said he thought I could get to 139. I haven't seen that since I was in my teens. My pcp said 150 is probably more reasonable given my frame. I believe that still puts me overweight- I'm 5' 2.5" tall. I have a heavy solid build naturally. I think we need to listen to our bodies- not everyone should be a size 4. Get to where you are comfortable and healthy. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  9. They actually approved the same day the doc sent it it- it was unreal. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  10. Because this is an emergency they should.ill be praying! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  11. Try some peppermint tea and see if that helps your spasms. It really helped me Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  12. No need to worry. There are not usually complications with the sleeve. My recuperation has been awesome so far. Just follow doctors orders. Good luck! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  13. My Dr says nsaids are okay for sleeve patients but not for gastric bypass patients. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  14. I had bcbs out of state. I did not have to do the 6 month diet because I didn't live in Maryland. I had to do a psych evaluation, nutrition evaluation and take a bariatric class at the hospital. Start to finish I was approved in 2 months. Bcbs is good. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  15. I am guessing that whether or not you have had wls we still have nutritional needs that everyone has- just harder to get them in. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  16. Good news from my pcp. One month out I have a normal A1C ! One more and she will remove the diagnosis of diabetes!!! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  17. Thanks!! The second one I posted wasn't webmd I don't think- I'm just starting to look into it so I appreciate the info. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  18. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3096273/#s3title This article talks about nutrition after weight loss I believe long term. Looks like a good one Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 197.4 GW 135
  19. Just people. Our bodies still have the same nutritional requirement I would think. I'll try to do some deeper research today from some on web sources as well. My work offers nutrition consultations through our wellness benefit.I'll look into it. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 198 GW 135
  20. Web md says adult men need about 57g per day and adult, not nursing or pregnant women need about 40 g per day. I trust webmd overall. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 198 GW 135
  21. My nutritionist said that we need the protein to rebuild cells- in our intestines the villi are replaces much more frequently and without the protein we can end up malnourished because of that- also without enough protein in about 3 months our hair will begin falling out. She said she has seen women with male pattern baldness for that reason. It will come back with increased protein though. I'm not an expert so I'd do more research on trusted nutritional sites as well. Nutrition is nothing to mess around with I'm learning. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 198 GW 135
  22. This is not a good thing to do. It's a sign of a deeper issue, so I've been told. Stick to the plan. Try something savory that's on your diet. Are you in clear liquids still or full liquids or even soft foods- by then my plan allowed for soft foods like scrambled eggs or cottage cheese. Maybe try some broth with spices. Find a good substitute for what you are craving. At this point it's probably head hunger. You are just missing food. I say this with a all of my 5 week experience (lol) but also with experience with my husband who had RNY 11 years ago. He struggled with his plan and went in to eat he wrong things and ended up having slot of throwing up spells. He lost the weight but it hasn't been a fun journey. If you are really struggling you should find a good counselor to help you figure out what your issues with food are. My dad would make dinner a nightmare I can still feel the lump in it throat - clear that plate. It was a long time before o could leave any food on my plate. I created kids who won't try anything new because I couldn't do that to them. They have awful eating habits because they hate vegetables and I couldn't make them try them more than once. Anyway... tmi- you gained the weight probably from an unhealthy relationship with food that was either physical or psychological or both and should figure out out why if you haven't already. I hope that helps.ill be praying! Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 198 GW 135
  23. You need to find sources of protein or in about 3 months your hair will start falling out and you will end up malnourished. Have you tried protein water? I got it at Safeway and it has 15 g of protein in it. I was having a lot of issues as well until my nutritionist told me about losing my hair and now I make sure I get my protein no matter what! Protein bars, protein water, cheese, chicken whatever I can get down. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 198 GW 135
  24. I think 37 pounds is great. I had vsg on June 22 and have lost 25 which I think is average. My doc said. Like 20-25 the first month and 10-12 after that. My husband had gastric bypass 11 years ago. I don't remember how fast he lost weight but he lost like 80 pounds the first year- you're almost at half of that! Be encouraged. Track everything you eat and stick to your plan. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 198 GW 135
  25. Did you have vsg? How much have you lost? Many people do get stalls around 3 weeks out. I was sleeved 6/22 I've lost 25 pounds so far. None for like 8 days and 2 pounds since then. Mich W Hw 223, SW 217 CW 198 GW 135
