  1. Pre op weight 319 Current weight 270 Sleeved 6/22/17 Today I weighed and I've lost 49 lbs in 23 days. At first I thought it was due to fluid retention. But I got all the fluid off the first week. I know I'm not getting very many calories between 200-400 daily. Plus I only get between 20 to 30 grams protein a day. But I am getting all my water in. That's pretty much all I drink. A typical day for me is 1 egg for breakfast a greek yogurt with protein for lunch, and a protein shake for dinner. And water all day. I'll eat a sf popcicle as a snack. When I eat pureed or mashed foods I fill too full or get extreme gas pain so I try to just stick to this plan. I don't feel hungry until it's to the point of feeling weak then I know I gotta eat. I'm happy with my weight loss but I'm afraid of what it could be doing to my muscles, teeth, and hair. I can start soft foods in one week but really afraid it will cause stomach problems. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

Am I losing too fast too soon?

My bmi was 53. And like you when I would diet or stick to a plan I lost fast. On weight watchers I lost 35 lbs and one time I had a health scare and had to go on a heart healthy diet and lost 40 lbs in 2 months. My problem was not being able to stick to it. And once I went back to eating everything in site I'd double what I lost. I think this surgery was my only option. I'm gonna try and get more protein in. I think I've just got burnt out on protein shakes. Needed a break. Thanks for your input. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

96 pounds down in three months

I believe it's possible to lose this fast. I've lost 49 lbs and I was sleeved on 6/22/17. I think it's awesome. As long as we are healthy we are good. Heck the whole point of the surgery was to lose the weight. Some people who have more to lose starting out will lose faster. And when I eat if 2 bites fill me up I stop. It's all about self control and sticking to the diet. And of course exercise. I walk everyday and do light cardio. Keep doing what you are doing. Great job. Yeah I'm not ashamed of the surgery I'm proud I took the step. It was a lot of work. It took 10 months of commitment to get approved through my insurance. 6 months of doctors appointments. A boat load of out of pocket expenses. And I've been fat for years and it makes me feel good that people are noticing my weight loss. If they ask I tell them. I've dropped so fast people probably would think all kind of negative ideas to why I'm losing weight. I think this is a positive so proud I took the leap. It was not an easy decision to make. And I'll get there with the restaurant situation once I have more choices. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

    Finding out the hard way!

Yesterday I stuck to the yogurt and liquids and my stomach feels much better. It took me 3 days to get over it. So not worth it. And I'm with you I tried pureed chili and had heartburn and gas pain. Spicy foods are a no go. Guess I'll stick to bland food till I can handle the spice. Packing for hospital??

I wore lose fitting clothing to the hospital. And brought my loose pjs. Cause I knew they would have me walking the floor later the same day as surgery. I wore white cotton socks into surgery and had some easy to slide on slippers to walk in. Toothbrush/paste, brush hair tie, and deodorant, my coat machine, and cell charger. I slept most of the first day so didn't use anything but the pj bottoms and slippers to walk. Got up early the next day freshened up and walked some down the halls. 18. Ok I gotta be honest here. I've never been a water drinker. And don't hate me but my surgeon only required a one day clear diet before surgery so I got to hang on to my sodas till 24 hours before surgery. But now that I'm 11 days out and I drink water all day I've noticed a huge improvement in my complexion. I was cursed with open pores and still at 41 would have the occasional breakout. I know it might not be a big deal but I've struggled with my skin my whole life. Also since giving up all the fried foods and junk I no longer have oily skin. I'm just so excited it's like an extra bonus. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

    1st restaurant experience post op

I have told everyone I know I had tge surgery so I don't have a problem with that. But I just don't think I should announce it to everyone in a restaurant. I did tell the waitress I was on a soft diet. I live in a small town in the south and I really think the waitress was being nice and making sure I was enjoying the food. I think it was just my first outing and will get easier in time. Once I get off this pureed diet and have more choices I can order a more balanced plate. Mashed potatoes just seemed to be one of my only choices. I can see spending a lot of money when I only eat 2 bites. Honestly I really wanted a cocktail more than anything but I powered through. Not gonna risk this new way of life on something I don't need. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

    What can I eat

Best advice is to not buy too much of one thing in the beginning I am 17 days out after gastric sleeve. I have a pantry full of boxes of bone broth ,cream soups, and a frig full of different protein shakes I hate. I found a protein milk at publix called Rockin refuel it's awesome. Chocolate taste just like chocolate milk and the vanilla taste like icecream. Has 30 grams protein. And I love oikos triple zero Greek yogurt has 15 grams protein the strawberry and salted caramel are my favorites. I got some unflavored protein powder to add to my soups. I've made a smoothie using fat free skim milk protein powder and fresh strawberries added splenda. Also crushed ice is my friend. I go to sonic and get bags of pellet ice and keep in my fridge. When I need to chomp on something it's there. Hope this helps. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

    Recovery??

I took 3 weeks off but wish I had only taken 2. The 1st week was the worst with the nausea and diarrhea. Only pain I had was the incision site. Trying to sleep without rolling on it was uncomfortable. Everybody is different but it is a adjustment very weak at first. I would say 2 weeks is plenty not sure I could have went back in a week. Had to get my stomach issues under control and build up my strength and started walking. Now up to a mile a day. And can get my 64 ounces water in. Ready to return to work tomorrow. 24. I was sleeved June 22. I'm still in the pureed stage. I've had problems finding foods that agree with me. I hate broth and cream soups I've mostly lived on oikos triple zero Greek yogurt it has 15 grams protein and I found some awesome protein milks at publix called Rockin refuel it has 30 grams protein. But started getting burned out. Now my favorite go to that agrees with me is cheerios. I put about 1/2 cup in fat free (skim) milk and add 1 packet of splenda.you can add some unflavored protein powder. Just let the cereal sit in milk it soft and chew it up good. It has really helped me. It's low fat and only has 1 gram sugar. I've lost 35 lbs since surgery so it's working for me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

    Show me a day

I'm 2 weeks out just started my pureed phase. I've been doing any soups that have the highest protein. I started with chicken and rice and I use my smoothie blender to puree. You can only eat a few bites at first so I buy the small can and only heat 1/2 can. I've graduated to a beef stew or soup with beef just make sure you really puree it and chew very good before swallowing. I've lost 30 lbs in 2 weeks. I stick to protein shakes and Greek yogurt only do I pureed meal a day. Goodluck I'm like you very worried about gaining now that I can have real food. But I've been walking a mile a day to balance it all out. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app
