    2 months out

this little meal has been good for me to take to work. The portion size is good. It's tasty and cheap. Now that I can't eat much I absolutely hate spending money eating out for lunch. It's got 11 grams protein so I do add that to my daily tally. Down 100 lbs in 4 months. I'm like you though if I eat too fast I feel sick. I don't throw up anymore but my stomach feels yucky for hours. Like I swallowed a brick. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

    My story - pre surgery

I was sleeved on 6/22/17. I had the same fears before surgery. But honestly my experience has been mostly positive. Of course the first weeks, are hard. The liquid diet is miserable, the gas pain and nausea are no joke, and the hair loss is the worst. But it will all pass. I no longer have nausea unless I over eat or eat fried foods. The gas is only occasionally. I'm dealing with hair loss now at 4 months. But I've lost 100 lbs in 4 months. I feel great. So if I can get to goal another 50 lbs to go. It will all be worth it. And I understand the food addiction. But in my case I've not really wanted to eat much. I try and eat small light snacks all day and have whatever my family is having for dinner. I just skip the bread. I can't eat bread it blows me up. I don't drink sodas or anything carbonated. I bought me some sugar free hard candy for times I need a little something sweet. I even have a special drawer that has sugar free chocolate. That's my way of mentally knowing I can have it if I want it. I hardly ever eat it. But it helps knowing I can. You will figure it out as you go. My way might not be the best way but it's working for me. Good luck on your journey. Before and after 4 months post op

It's a mind thing. I basically can only eat about 4 bites. I've learned bread is a no. I only drink water with flavor pkts. No carbonated drinks. Eating slow is the hardest part for me. But definitely do it. Walk everyday. Even if it's in your yard at first. I literally walked circles on my patio at first because I was so out of shape. It's hard for me to eat heavy in the morning so I usually eat special k protein cereal with splenda. Have a slice of ham, a slice if cheese and a mini bag of pretzels. I can't eat it all so I make 2 meals of it. Then for supper I eat whatever the family is having but stop as soon as I feel full. Hope this helps. Good luck on your journey Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. I'm so happy to say I'm over it. All these years of you weighing me down. My life revolved around you. Seemed like it was always about you. Where to go, what to choose, how much I wanted. You always made me feel guilty and out of control. I was obsessed with you. You kept me from being comfortable in my own skin. You kept me from being the active mom my kids deserved. The hot wife my husband deserves. You kept me on the couch unable to enjoy life. Me you and the tv. I would lie to my friends and family and say " I don't like outside I'm an inside person". When in reality I wanted to be outdoors enjoying life. But instead my dependence on you kept me immobile. But since my sleeve I no longer want or need you. I now realize you have no power over me. I now eat to live not live to eat. I'm finding joy again. When I look in the mirror I see the girl I used to be before my relationship with you tried to destroy me. I feel better and have more energy and confidence than I've ever had. I feel more feminine and comfortable in my own skin. I know I still need you to survive. But I'm taking over this relationship FOOD! I will decide when enough is enough. We are done. I'm taking over my life. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hair loss

I'm 3 months out and mine started at 2 months. I've lost 75 lbs in 3 months. Dr said it was normal when you lose a lot of weight. It's so thin now I wear it in a bun to hide how thin it is. I lose a huge handful everyday. I'd rather be skinny and bald than fat though. I'll buy a wig if I have to. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app

  14. I'm 5'6 and my goal as of now has been 175. I'll have to see what I look like at that goal yo decide if I'll lower it. I'm be happy at a size 8/10. Size large shirt. Just so glad to feel better be in less pain and have energy. Plus my confidence has returned. I have been the biggest person in the room for so long it's great to just fit in. We had a family reunion and my son couldn't pick me out of the crowd and I has family I hadn't seen in a year that didn't even recognize me. That made me feel so good. Good luck on your journey. 15. I'm 3 months post op. I eat steak at least once a week. Can't get a 4oz steak down yet. And because I know 4 bites fill me up I just chew slow and savor every bite. Plus if I'm grilling at home I buy the best cut of steak I can get because that one steak will be four meals. Now on the beer I tried one and it only took 1/2 beer was like 8 beers before. So one the up side you can have beer and steak just takes a lot lease of it. Just think of how much money you can save for all the new clothes you will need. I'm down 74 lbs and I was sleeved 6/22/17. For the first time in my life I don't feel hungry. I'm listening to my body. If 4 bites fills me up I just stop wrap up the leftovers for later. Something about know I can eat that anytime I want has helped with the mental part I think. And usually I wait about 2 hours and I eat some more of it. I eat 6 times a day. It's merely a snack to normal people but with a tiny stomach I'm not chancing stretching it out. So far it's working great for me. The mental part is the worst. Once you realize you can still eat just gotta listen to your body. And I've over eaten a couple times. Trust me my body was telling me about it. It was like a scene from the exorcist. I hate to puke so when the stomach says enough is enough I listen. Well I hope I didn't ramble too much. Short answer I'd say after your stomach heals, and the doc says you can have solid food build up to steak. Start out with fish and chicken. The beer is more of a treat I'd say. There is a reason they call it a beer belly. Just remember when you do drink beer you will get drunk very easy. Best have a driver. Good luck on your surgery. Best decision I ever made. 16. I've told everyone. Best decision I've ever made. Lost 75 lbs in 3 months. If I didn't tell them people would assume I'm sick or drugs. Plus I'm very outspoken so my family and friends know not to give me a hard time or advise. Or I'll start giving them advice about their life choices. Everyone has been super supportive and positive. Heck I've even told strangers I barely know. I could be the gastric sleeve spokeperson. Lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. I don't remember the last time I could sit with my legs crossed. I'm almost 3 months out and I've lost 70lbs. Only obese people get what an accomplishment it is in the simple act of sitting comfortably with crossed legs. 20 more lbs and I might brave high heels. HW 330 SW 319 CW 245. 18. I've found a great shake or protein milk it has 30 grams of protein but also has 7 grams sugar. I've been drinking it since day 3. But up till a couple days ago I could only finish 1/2 at a time so I figured 3.5 grams was ok. Now I can drink a whole one. Day 11 and I'm down 30 lbs but afraid that I might stall if im getting too much sugar. It has 190 calories also. How many grams sugar a day are we allowed with the sleeve? 19. Ok I have a protein dilemma. I am losing weight like crazy. But I'm losing hair too. I know I don't eat enough protein and I don't see a nut. I work crazy long hours gone 12 hours,a day with my commute. I can eat all foods now but I find snacks agree with my stomach better. I usually eat a small apple with 2 tbs peanut butter for breakfast 9 grams protein , a string cheese and a few ff mini pretzels for lunch 7 grams protein, or a bowl of special k protein cereal 9 grams protein, then for supper I'll have about 3 bites of chicken or steak and a couple bites of a vegetable like green beans it's usually about 20 grams protein . And I just drink water all day. I've lost 65lbs in 8 weeks. I started with the protein shakes but I'm so burnt out. But the hairloss is awful. 20. Well yesterday was my first time going out to eat since my sleeve surgery June 22. Me and my husband went to ruby Tuesday's because he is trying to eat better too. They have an awesome salad bar. When I got there I ordered a water even though I knew I couldn't drink it before eating. I felt awkward looking at the menu since I'm technically still on pureed diet and burnt out on soup. Finally I ordered a side of mashed potatoes loaded. The waitress looked at me strange and asked " is that all for you?" I just said I'm on a soft diet right now because I really didn't want to tell everyone in the restaurant about my surgery. Once she brought it out and said " will that be enough" and I told her yes plenty. I removed the butter and sour cream and nibbled on the potatoes, cheese, and bacon. It tasted great. I only ate a couple bites and the waitress asked again " are your potatoes ok?" I told her they were great and asked for a box. I enjoyed the time out with my husband and we talked and had a good time but it was just awkward having to explain why I wasn't eating. I know she was doing her job she was a nice waitress and I'm sure she was thinking why is this big girl not eating. Anybody else feel like this going out? 21. I am 7 weeks post op and for the past 2 weeks I haven't dropped a single lb. I lost 55 the first 5 weeks. But this morning I weighed and I was 5 lbs down. I could tell by looking in the mirror and the way my clothes fit I was losing but it didn't reflect on the scale. I'm so happy to see a lower number. Was starting to get discouraged. So what does everyone eat?

I'm almost 6 weeks out and I'm getting burnt out on yogurt and protein shakes too. They were my main source of protein for 4 weeks and I lost 50lbs. Now that I can eat real food I haven't lost a single lb in 2 weeks. I've heard about the 3 week stall. I hope I'll start back soon. I think I've got to lay off fruit and oj. I buy the trop 50 oj it's less sugar less fat but I love it. I want a salad so bad but I haven't tried raw veggies yet. Kinda afraid to try. 23. I'm 5 weeks out post op sleeve. I'm never hungry till its too late. Then I make myself eat. Vitamins make me feel very sick. I've always had a problem taking vitamins. I'm worried because I'm only getting about 400 calories and about 30 grams of protein my muscles will break down. My body feels so weird right now. I'm like a marshmallow. I've lost 50 lbs and it's been a week and I've not lost another lb. Any suggestions? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. Yeah I tried one. Don't like the protein flavor. I eat a yogurt everyday that has 15 grams and I drink a protein milk sometimes that has 30 grams. I think I'm just brunt out on the same old stuff. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. Ok I had my sleeve surgery 21 days ago today. 2 days ago I really messed up. I went to my sisters house 2 days ago and she had cooked speghetti. My favorite. So I thought if I'd just mash it up good and chew it to pieces I could have a couple bites. BIG MISTAKE! That night I felt like I ate a brick. I was sick and hurting all night. Wasn't able to eat yesterday and ran to the bathroom at work all day. Today it took me 4 hours just to eat a yogurt. I lost 5 lbs in 3 days. But trust me it wasn't how I wanted to do it. It was very painful. I'm suppose to be on the pureed diet one more week then start soft foods. I work for a neurologist and he explained to me today that my intestines were stretching and sending signals to my brain that I had something foreign I shouldn't have inside me. Which caused the intestines to stretch even more. I felt like crap. So if you are like me and think a couple bites won't hurt trust me it will hurt. I've learned my lesson and will stick with my diet. I'm doing great I've lost 45 lbs in 3 weeks but it can't be good to do it this way. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using BariatricPal mobile app
