  1. Surgery is done, now time to start losing.  How long does it take to start feeling normal.  Still in a lot of pain, but I'm glad the surgery is done.

Congrats on your surgery! For me, the first 3 days were difficult. I day 4 I felt so much better!

Take your pain meds, sip as much water as you are able. Are you still in the hospital or home. The advantage of the hospital is you are on an IV giving your water.

Keep us posted and ask questions. You’re going to love it.

@ShelbyMoore I'm at home now. I'm trying to get proteins and water in as much as possible. The weird thing is, I can't tell what full is.

If I started reaching my limit it began to feel real uncomfortable. Plus I remember the dr telling me my stomach can only hold 4 ounces. So I measure, still do, everything to be sure it’s not more than four ounces. The week or so after surgery I was only eating 1-2 ounces at a time. I hope you are feeling a smidgen better. Be sure to rest! Don’t push yourself.

  2. Pre-op diet starts Monday 20 and Thanksgiving non Thursday, I don't know how this is going to work.

Wow, great job. Thanks for the advise. I sure would like the recipe for the broth. To be honest, I'm not really feeling this holiday. I'm looking forward to my new beginnings. I hope my experience is similar to yours.

      Thai Inspired Chicken Broth

      • 1 tsp of Better Than Bouilion Roasted Chicken paste (little goes a long way)
      • 2.5 cups of water
      • dash of lime juice (RealLime brand is what I use)
      • 1 tbsp of Huy Fong Chili Garlic Paste (not Sriracha in the tube....it has sugar -- I've attached a photo for reference) - optional
      • 1 small dash of soy sauce (low sodium)
      • 1 dash of garlic powder/onion powder (no salt)
      • 1 scoop of kimchee - strained out after cooking -- also optional

Try it out and tell me how it goes. You could also do a Thanksgiving inspired chicken broth with some seasonings like Rosemary and Sage. :D

  4. Anxiously waiting on approval for VSG with Kaiser.  I had my preoop last week.  I thought that was it, however, I still need another approval.

You need another approval?? I was approved for surgery BEFORE I even took the options class. When I finished the classes the bariatric dept called and scheduled me with one of the surgeons. Two weeks later I met with the surgeon and the surgeon and I picked a date.

What did they do at your pre-op appt?

Let me know about surgery. Go over pros and con's. And then tell me I have to wait for surgery approval before setting a date.

  5. Anxiously waiting for Kaiser approval for surgery.  Had a preop appointment last week, I thought that was it.  But come to find out, I have to have another approval for surgery. 😳😳

  6. Anybody out there that is waiting for or recently been sleeved.  Please follow me.  I need some supporter's.  And maybe I can help someone else.

  7. Called Kaiser referral dept this morning, surgery approved.  Now I will wait one more day to hear from my surgery doctor.  Happy birthday to me.......

      Yeah ... happy birthday.

      Cheers.

  8. OK people, what have you done or wish to do after surgery that you haven't done in a while?  Me, I can't wait to run again.  Running is something I enjoyed in the past, however, my knees can't take it right now.

I am getting ready to go back to the pool. I love to swim about 2km breaststroke (80 laps of 25metres) and wade chest-deep for another 25 to 40 laps before I come home.

Why did we Wait so long to do what we love. I guess better late than never.

It's not that I waited. I noticed that it became harder... not as enjoyable fighting the weight.

  9. Finished Kaiser Options classes.  I thought I was done.  I have to now do another EKG, Labs and Chest Xray.  This can't get over fast enough.
