    Intermittent Fasting

No its good to hear context, a lot of people assume you're obese simply because you over eat. Obesity is not one size fits all. At least not the road in or out. Glad cancer is gone, glad you went though with surgery and its working, you'll break that 160 barrier in no time flat!

    Intermittent Fasting

A liquid vegetable fat, an oil Medium-chain triglycerides are triglycerides whose fatty acids have an aliphatic tail of 6–12 carbon atoms. The fatty acids found in MCTs are called medium-chain fatty acids. Rich sources for commercial extraction of beneficial MCTs include palm kernel oil and coconut oil.

    Intermittent Fasting

Great info, i may try 14/10 but im so committed to 16/8 lol im a creature of habit I am going to eliminate the protein added to tea and see if this kicks things up TBC... Also when you did IF pre surgery what were your losses like , how long of a period did you sustain it for? It feels almost too easy for me, like I could do this all the time a leave it situationally...

    The regain posts

I (personally) only like to identify myself with current active parts of my life ( l am vs I was) it keeps me present focused. I don't know if a few years from now I will still feel like I'm fighting the obesity battle (I didn't feel that way to start , but that another discussion) or if will just feel like this is who I am now (diet weight lifestyle) no struggle Does anyone here feel that way as a Vet or are they the ones who have left as the OP suggested?

Why I am so hungry all the time.

What soft foods are you eating? Yogurts, cottage cheese, jello, soup, pudding? Chicken salad, tuna salad, flaked fish, tofu, hummus, refried beans? Some things "slide" right through you leaving you hungry quickly, (if you see the term sliders thrown around thats whats being referring to) Even in the soft stage you have to try to eat denser protein to stay fuller longer, this will be the balancing act of your journey I combat my "hunger" (some times its not) with warm soothing drinks until the next scheduled meal. BTW You can do this !!!

5 days post op VSG- horrible experience

Lots of people react differently to surgery, sorry you got a short straw. Now you know that you will have to advocate for pain management prior to release from the hospital, never ever leave before you are capable. It does get better. I had a slow recovery as well, I was switched between 4 pain meds before they got it right. It was something. My pain lasted for weeks at home. But I survived and no other complications occurred, so stay hydrated as much ad possible or you'll land right back in the hospital. CONGRATS!!! Safe Journey

    Intermittent Fasting

Right! And explained the science well. I should have been more strategic with recording my findings to help with the questions being asked but I honestly didn't think it would work (or so well) so I kind of just started randomly.
  9. Its going to be trial and error with guessing which foods affect you in which ways. The dietary plans are generic and the progression of stages are based on research from general population data, some people heal much faster or much slower. So your team will be able to advance, delay and modify your diet based off of your individual needs if you ask. But they won't know you need something different unless you ask (Indian foods) Beware most Indian foods have high (heat) spices that can irritate the stomach lining, you may experience problems because of this Also the food you want has very little nutritional value, just comfort foods beware of why you want them so badly, but you'll figure that out along the way too I ate samosa at 7 months post op, not a regular food for me now (southern Indian was my thing, but I want to protect my stomach from developing GERD) so I make my own curries at home now... Work with them to see how/if you can incorporate anything off your food list into your lifestyle
  10. Decaf coffee for the premier caramel early out, regular when my team ok'ed it. I actual used cookies and cream once or twice also for a more mocha flavor, not bad either
  11. Please document this meticulously for the rest of us CONGRATS!!!!
  12. You should bring your food list into your NUT or team and see what they recommend. How far into your Journey are you?

    Intermittent Fasting

I was losing a pound every few weeks if that prior to trying, I'd recommend it for anyone struggling that has done everything else they can
  14. Not sure which protein shake you drink but premier caramel in coffee is one of the best ways ever. Its like a Starbucks treat when done right
  15. So sorry for your troubles, the wicked never go unpunished promise. Add protein shakes back in to get your macros up, If you find that the reset is too daunting, just reset to the cleanest level if diet possible. It helps tremendously. No lie. Intermittent fasting works, no doubt but you want those good habits (clean foods) to fall back on when you break the fast or you'll regain weight.

    weight gain after veg

If you started the antidepressants after sleeve surgery you will have that initial boost in hunger and weight gain, those are noted regular side effects, ones that should have been well explained. If you had the sleeve after you were already on antidepressants you may need to speak with your clinician about modifications to accommodate your weight loss in addition to a therapy aspect like the suggested OA. Either way, your mental health team needs to be looped in (and don't go off cold turkey, that causes tons of issues) Tracking/logging plus eating clean again sounds like a wonderful plan and its nice to have a supportive partner.

    In the home stretch...

    !!!!CONGRATS!!!! Now it's a party
  19. Hey there What was your starting weight, teams goal weight, your goal weight? VSG patients can expect to typically lose 60-70% of excess weight Some beat the odds and lose a lot more , some a lot less. Uncomfortable facts, but there's data out there if you want it. What is your diet (when you were losing vs now)? And why sabotage yourself now? (If you can't get what you want right now then you don't want it at all?- that's subconsciously what you're saying when you trash your diet because of a stall) thankfully its a work in progress so you can continue to work and progress. You're too important and beautiful and smart to give up on your self so fight. Clean your diet out again. Stuff you know your team would give you the sideeye over, leave alone and see if this changes anything. And check in with your team if nothing changes after you make some strong efforts. Safe Journey

    Intermittent Fasting

So far, it appears to has accelerated my weight loss
  21. I used alarms and a schedule checklist, also 64oz was the goal by a few weeks post op according to my plan. They wanted us to gradually work our way up. Hot fluids went down much easier and things I liked I drank the quickest (tea, sugar free light hot chocolate, decaf coffee, vitamin water zero, etc) plain water was a nightmare. Thankfully every fluid counted towards my hydration goal. I would have never made it on pure water alone. Adding protein shake to my tea, hot chocolate and coffee was invaluable early on. I added protein powder/shake to everything. pace yourself and sip constantly You can do it!
