What Should I Pack For VSG Surgery?

I agree, a lot less is needed unless your traveling from far/abroad. I feel like most people can get away with bringing nothing but cellphone, Identification and insurance information.

1 Day Post Op and feeling good!

I felt fantastic after my conversion to RNY. I was shocked because I felt terrible in the initial days after my original VSG. Also anytime I receive IV fluids I “gain” water weight. But it always goes away.

What Should I Pack For VSG Surgery?

I like to have body/baby wipes around because you cannot bathe for a while but will have a lot of people touching you while in the hospital.

    I use Baritastic these day

    Clothes etc

I don’t keep many clothes long term (over 5 yrs) because My personality may outgrow that particular style. I decided to donate the majority of my clothes that didn’t fit (body or style) to charity. I gave the clothes I loved the most to friends and family (who could fit them) so I knew for sure they were well cared for and I could enjoy them from a distance.

    Flatulence

I’m (still) gassy too. At home I don’t hide it but whenever I was out, I would take a little more effort to conceal the situation by stepped away or doing it in a bathroom.

    It's back??

My appetite came back around six months post op and it comes and goes regularly Being 3+ years out I still cannot (in a single sitting) eat even 1/3 of what I used to especially if I follow the rules of 30/30/30 However if I decided to eat over longer stretches I can eat a bit more. So I remain vigilant about my diet (but I make small exceptions for special occasions) and I try to stick with as many rules as I can I hope that helps and Good Luck ❤️

    Reassurance

    1. You will wake up, believe It! own it! In fact, you may even ask did you have surgery yet because it will feel like you just your eyes! 2. You absolutely will lose weight, believe it! own it! * subtle disclaimer: Do not be surprised if you leave the hospital heavier than when you entered. This is not a failure of anything, it’s just your body retaining the fluids that were given to you. It’s an artificial inflation of your weight so IMHO don’t even bother thinking about it. 3. Loose skin be damned! Even it with it you’ll be smoking hot with a new slimmer silhouette plus renewed confidence (you can fix loose skin later if you even have any) 4. You are likely to have low possibility or no possibility of complications at all (if you look at statistics that are published) And if you have any complications great or small, please immediately contact your doctors ! don’t wait or ask the Internet. 5. Work with your team to make sure you have a pain management schedule put together before you even go into surgery. It’s possible to wake up feeling no pain. These fears are all completely normal, I had the same ones plus a few more, You can do it! Good Luck ❤️
  16. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4737339/ you can read the whole article if you want but skip to the section on marginal ulceration if your short on time
  17. It totally will depend on how your surgeon explains the need for the revision during the insurance submission and if your insurance requires the waiting period matter what. Call your insurance a d ask where you can find the information on Bariatric revision surgery. If possible ask for it in writing. Also find out if that particular revision procedure is covered. Good Luck ❤️

    Thighs after weight loss

My thighs were very saggy once I got closer to goal. When I had plastics last year (TT) it helped to smooth them out a lot.

Dr saying not to drink protein shakes!

Do your own research but by all means please follow your plan. Hopefully your team can give you guidance on alternatives to protein shakes.

    Food Before and After Photos

Egg omelette (1.5 eggs but I only ate 1/2), home fries (btw what do you call these?), 1/2 traditional drop biscuit (made with Splenda instead of stevia)
  21. Water. Joking! I don’t know any new products that are Bariatric friendly but if you see anything low carb for keto it’s a good chance it will have less carbs but not necessarily less calories, however I love Ak-Mak

Study re: benefits of PS after WLS

This! For me I tend to put extra care into preserving and maintaining things I believe are highly valuable.

    Big day tomorrow!

Congratulations! That weak feeling may be because of electrolyte loss (like when someone has diarrhea)
