Severe Gerd/esophogeal dysmotility. Revision vs nissen or just hernia repair?
GreenTealael replied to starladustangel's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
(With all the due respects to nurses❤️) Unless the nurse received a message directly from the surgeon to give to you, that advice should be considered anecdotal. Your surgeon may see evidence from further testing that will swing the decision in a different direction. Wait to hear their advice. Revisioners can maintain (and even gain) weight after being converted to RNY. Your surgeon may be able to help control how much extra you lose through planning a shorter bypass vs a longer one. That’s a question you may want to ask. -

I early on I had adverse reactions to cabbage. The gas afterwards was bad but also I had chest tightness a few bites in. I think it just wasn’t cooked well/tender enough. These days I have no problem with cabbage cooked or raw as long as I chew it well. -
I think I was in the final/regular diet phase. I chose softer nuts like cashews so it was easier to eat. But be forewarned because they are easy to eat and readily accessible without preparation IMHO you have to weight/measure nuts. They are calorie expensive in respect to the amount you can eat. They are a slider food for me. Also, I became unfocused and easily frustrated with a headache long before I felt any sign of hunger.

I absolutely had to pack food to go with me if I was out for too long. My go to was string cheese or nuts.

Sleeve to bypass not feeling same restriction
GreenTealael replied to Getsleeved03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was normal for me too. Liquids may not give you the inflammatory tightness that you experienced with VSG because the inflammation (if you have much) will be lower in your digestive system instead of close to the esophagus. Because the pyloric sphincter is *usually* bypassed when you are revised from a VSG to RNY, you *may* not feel the same restriction as with VSG. Your restriction/full sensation can also feel different. For me it’s the difference between tightness in the chest with VSG and heaviness in my lower abdomen with RNY. However I’m happy to note that both sensations made me want to stop eating. So there is a safeguard if you pay close attention. Congratulations on a safe surgery & happy recovery ❤️ -

Sounds quite normal. Try to remove the stimuli. I refused to watch commercials In the beginning when I was home recovering because they were all about food. -

Hand washing a car without getting winded or tired! Also there was a ton of honking and catcalls but I’m not sure if it was for me or for the car itself 😂 -

No hunger vs hunger...When did this change for you?
GreenTealael replied to Tim C's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For me it returned between 6-8 months post op. But I’m never as hungry as I was pre-op so that’s the real miracle. -

Absolutely no judgement here ❤️ I cut it myself and the technique is called chiffonade. It’s super easy : -
IMHO, If you have reflux issues already, please let your surgeon know this (and try to explain the severity to which you experience it) Based on the information they give you and their recommendations make the best choice for you. Good Luck ❤️

😍 I made a bean & cheese burrito with low carb tortilla yesterday and only ate half. Made french fries and ate 6. BUT If it was tortilla or potato chips, I would have eaten 976425670753 😂 -

What is the first thing you eat or drink everyday?
GreenTealael replied to Tim C's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Black tea with half and half, Chai or green tea latte. Then water or other sugar free drink. Sometime herbal coffee alternative since I had to give up coffee 2 yrs ago. -

Same! The green ones never cook quickly enough for my needs (which are 30 mins or less meals) despite how long I prep them 😤
