I felt (for me anyway) the VSG restriction tightness occurred long before I felt satisfied with whatever I was eating but the discomfort feeling was more intense than hunger so I stopped eating. Sometimes I wanted more to eat but physically could not. Fullness from RNY (for me) feels like traditional fullness where you don’t want to eat anymore. I feel truly done and don’t want anymore food. But sometimes I get both restriction and fullness when I’m eating drier things especially protein (the restriction hits first) -

Don’t panic, the notes suggest further evaluation before anyone can say if anything is actually found or if it’s nothing to worry about -

Yay or Nay: Weight loss before surgery for better success
GreenTealael replied to Globetrecker's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn’t lose any significant weight prior to surgery and was a BMI of 44 . Currently I’m a BMI of 27 (I tend to fluctuate between 26-28) -
The location feels like I’m waiting for the train from Hogwarts to bring my children home for summer break 😂 I bought several of same jersey dress because it’s easy so now it’s all I wear

Very early on, extremely soft vegetables (almost mush) will go down easier. Later on when you are able to eat more (volume) maybe able to pick and chose when you substitute vegetables for other things in your meals. It takes some time but eventually you’ll get the swing of it all.

Chicken sandwich without bun I had a bite and began to feel restriction (drier protein) so the second pic is where I felt complete restriction (VSG) about 16 mins later I felt fullness (RNY). I saved the rest for later -
Absolutely listen to your team’s advice (they have seen it all) but ultimately the choice is yours. I understand the knee jerk reaction anyone can have from gaining especially after working long and hard to lose. But IMHO the goal is healthy, whatever that looks like for you ❤️ You may naturally gain a little anyway If you are more that 2 yrs from surgery (or when maintenance begins) Weight loss should slow down eventually if you are not actively trying to lose. Congratulations on making it to goal.

My Weight Loss Story

Congratulations on a successful surgery! -
My first bit of advice would be to track your food intake for a while (if you are not already). It will help you stay conscious of what you’re eating and how much. You may be able to adjust your intake for gains and losses of you track. Secondly is try to be patient. Sometimes secondary WLS doesn’t give immediate results. You may get to goal slower but you can still get there. You may need work for it a little more. Finally, reflect or seek assistance to understand what occurred that led to your regain and if you can prevent it from happening again. Good Luck!

I have a small basil plant in my kitchen and it likes to “faint” it’s so dramatic 😂, does that happen to you? -
I had to buy an entirely new wardrobe at 4 months post op and then again at goal around 2 years ago. Now I only buy new things for special events (not these days) or fun. Indulging in new clothes trends/styles is really fun when things are new and your finding your new style/body identity but can also be expensive. Perhaps buy things you don’t mind giving away in a few months when you reach a smaller size

Severe Gerd/esophogeal dysmotility. Revision vs nissen or just hernia repair?
GreenTealael replied to starladustangel's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Regain is a legitimate fear. I stay careful but (not fixated) on what I eat and so far so good but obviously everyone’s experience will be different. I still can get the tight chest VSG restriction if I eat drier protein. Mostly I experience lower abdomen I’m bored with eating discomfort with RNY. With both I got the lump in my throat full feeling (does this happen to anyone else? IDK) -

Perhaps you may need more hydration and possibly electrolytes. But give your team a call if you can and tell them about this. They may have so tips or instructions for you

Your team may give you a list of shakes they prefer, but generally I think 5grams of sugar or less and 200 cals or less per shake. This criteria seemed to be the common thread in all of the shakes recommended to me by my team. Protein isolates appears to have better bioavailability than concentrates. (Someone please correct me if I’m wrong) Besides that it will depend on your personal preference for flavor and tolerance. They range from shakes, and shots to waters and soups. So there really is somethings for everyone. Testing a few at a time instead of buying a huge supply can definitely help until you find your go to brand/type. This site’s store has a ton of options. Vitamins (Bariatric) are also preference based but I personally favor one a day types.

When I started my journey I didn’t even consider my “after” body, I was so focused on my after lifestyle. I felt (and looked) good up until a threshold and then I lost weight from places I had not anticipated. It can be slightly shocking but everything about life after WLS was novice and odd for a little while. I only ever saw the problem when I was not clothed. Other than that it was hidden. I also had plastics (also in Miami) because it was the right choice/time for me.
