    Surgery completed

    Congratulations!
  2. I didn’t lose any significant weight prior to surgery and was a BMI of 44 . Currently I’m a BMI of 27 (I tend to fluctuate between 26-28)

The location feels like I’m waiting for the train from Hogwarts to bring my children home for summer break 😂 I bought several of same jersey dress because it’s easy so now it’s all I wear

    Start of Week 4

Very early on, extremely soft vegetables (almost mush) will go down easier. Later on when you are able to eat more (volume) maybe able to pick and chose when you substitute vegetables for other things in your meals. It takes some time but eventually you’ll get the swing of it all.

    Food Before and After Photos

Chicken sandwich without bun I had a bite and began to feel restriction (drier protein) so the second pic is where I felt complete restriction (VSG) about 16 mins later I felt fullness (RNY). I saved the rest for later

    Too much weight loss?

Absolutely listen to your team’s advice (they have seen it all) but ultimately the choice is yours. I understand the knee jerk reaction anyone can have from gaining especially after working long and hard to lose. But IMHO the goal is healthy, whatever that looks like for you ❤️ You may naturally gain a little anyway If you are more that 2 yrs from surgery (or when maintenance begins) Weight loss should slow down eventually if you are not actively trying to lose. Congratulations on making it to goal.

    Congratulations on a successful surgery!

    2nd Chance.

My first bit of advice would be to track your food intake for a while (if you are not already). It will help you stay conscious of what you’re eating and how much. You may be able to adjust your intake for gains and losses of you track. Secondly is try to be patient. Sometimes secondary WLS doesn’t give immediate results. You may get to goal slower but you can still get there. You may need work for it a little more. Finally, reflect or seek assistance to understand what occurred that led to your regain and if you can prevent it from happening again. Good Luck!

I have a small basil plant in my kitchen and it likes to “faint” it’s so dramatic 😂, does that happen to you?

    Not a huge issue but...

I had to buy an entirely new wardrobe at 4 months post op and then again at goal around 2 years ago. Now I only buy new things for special events (not these days) or fun. Indulging in new clothes trends/styles is really fun when things are new and your finding your new style/body identity but can also be expensive. Perhaps buy things you don’t mind giving away in a few months when you reach a smaller size
  14. Regain is a legitimate fear. I stay careful but (not fixated) on what I eat and so far so good but obviously everyone’s experience will be different. I still can get the tight chest VSG restriction if I eat drier protein. Mostly I experience lower abdomen I’m bored with eating discomfort with RNY. With both I got the lump in my throat full feeling (does this happen to anyone else? IDK)

    Fingers locking?

Perhaps you may need more hydration and possibly electrolytes. But give your team a call if you can and tell them about this. They may have so tips or instructions for you

    Pre-Op

Your team may give you a list of shakes they prefer, but generally I think 5grams of sugar or less and 200 cals or less per shake. This criteria seemed to be the common thread in all of the shakes recommended to me by my team. Protein isolates appears to have better bioavailability than concentrates. (Someone please correct me if I’m wrong) Besides that it will depend on your personal preference for flavor and tolerance. They range from shakes, and shots to waters and soups. So there really is somethings for everyone. Testing a few at a time instead of buying a huge supply can definitely help until you find your go to brand/type. This site’s store has a ton of options. Vitamins (Bariatric) are also preference based but I personally favor one a day types.

    Scared of losing weight

When I started my journey I didn’t even consider my “after” body, I was so focused on my after lifestyle. I felt (and looked) good up until a threshold and then I lost weight from places I had not anticipated. It can be slightly shocking but everything about life after WLS was novice and odd for a little while. I only ever saw the problem when I was not clothed. Other than that it was hidden. I also had plastics (also in Miami) because it was the right choice/time for me.

    Eating out after bypass

I can eat 1/3 a five guys burger with vegetables toppings (no bun) I’m almost 2yrs post bypass (although I’m a VSG to RNY)
  20. (With all the due respects to nurses❤️) Unless the nurse received a message directly from the surgeon to give to you, that advice should be considered anecdotal. Your surgeon may see evidence from further testing that will swing the decision in a different direction. Wait to hear their advice. Revisioners can maintain (and even gain) weight after being converted to RNY. Your surgeon may be able to help control how much extra you lose through planning a shorter bypass vs a longer one. That’s a question you may want to ask.

    Food Before and After Photos

I early on I had adverse reactions to cabbage. The gas afterwards was bad but also I had chest tightness a few bites in. I think it just wasn’t cooked well/tender enough. These days I have no problem with cabbage cooked or raw as long as I chew it well.

    Hangry

I think I was in the final/regular diet phase. I chose softer nuts like cashews so it was easier to eat. But be forewarned because they are easy to eat and readily accessible without preparation IMHO you have to weight/measure nuts. They are calorie expensive in respect to the amount you can eat. They are a slider food for me. Also, I became unfocused and easily frustrated with a headache long before I felt any sign of hunger.

    Hangry

I absolutely had to pack food to go with me if I was out for too long. My go to was string cheese or nuts.
  24. It was normal for me too. Liquids may not give you the inflammatory tightness that you experienced with VSG because the inflammation (if you have much) will be lower in your digestive system instead of close to the esophagus. Because the pyloric sphincter is *usually* bypassed when you are revised from a VSG to RNY, you *may* not feel the same restriction as with VSG. Your restriction/full sensation can also feel different. For me it’s the difference between tightness in the chest with VSG and heaviness in my lower abdomen with RNY. However I’m happy to note that both sensations made me want to stop eating. So there is a safeguard if you pay close attention. Congratulations on a safe surgery & happy recovery ❤️
