According to the fact sheet and studies, Wegovy is designed to be taken indefinitely. If you discontinue use weight regain occurs. Surgery is probably more cost effective at this point but perhaps this is useful for someone who cannot have WLS or is trying to fight regain.

Ozempic is not generally used for weightloss probably because the dose is too low to be effective. Did it control your diabetes prior to surgery?

Right before my revision surgery, I questioned why I had to adhere so strictly to the preop diet (especially since I was at my goal weight) I was told that not only does the pre-op diet reduce the fat in the abdominal cavity making it easier to navigate during surgery, but it also reduces any fat remaining inside the liver. They took preventative measure for better surgical outcomes. The liver is one of the organs that must be lifted in order to reach the digestive track. If it has too much fat, it is not pliable and becomes prone to injuries like tears, scaring and even breaking. My surgeon asked me to imagine a marbled steak as opposed to a leaner steak. The fat filled areas of the steak will tear easier that the purely muscular areas. After that conversation I (begrudgingly) complied with the pre-op diet.

I’m always on the fence with artificial sweeteners. There’s no real way to escape them if you are on a low calorie diet. But I do understand the concerns especially since it’s becoming easier to consume larger amounts than recommended because they are unavoidable. I try to exclusively use Stevia or Erythritol. The best bet is to research the menu ahead of time and order the most appropriate meal in line with your plan

Insurance: If weightloss surgery is excluded from your plan, save yourself the headache and just change to a plan that that includes the weightloss surgery that you want. Also some of the research/follow up maybe be on the patient. The paperwork, approvals, scheduling etc are all performed my people and sometimes mistakes can happen. My surgery coordinator forgot to fax one page of necessary information and insurance couldn’t move forward with approval until they had it. The coordinator didn’t even know there was a page missing (could have stuck to another page) The only reason I knew and was able to have it fixed was because I checked in on my approval with my insurance company myself.

Restaurants are usually more than willing to accommodate substitutions and understand that people have complex diets. I have seen vegetarian, diabetic/keto friendly, gluten free, etc menu categories. I have also looked up menus prior to going places. When ordering I either ask for everything on the side or without everything I don’t want. My BF says that I do *appear* high maintenance at restaurants. But I have always been that way because I am kosher, sometimes I was a strict vegetarian/vegan and have a shellfish allergy too so cross contamination is dangerous for me. WLS was just one more layer. If all else fails I order salad or ice water, tea or dessert 🤣

Purely opinion but I think a good place is somewhere between what your team approves and what make you happy/stress free long term Good Luck ❤️

I definitely had to bring non perishable foods and shakes to fill in the gaps instead of stopping at every gas station during road trips. But there will be times you want to sit and eat. I often picked my meals entirely from side items, lighter/smart choice sections and in a pinch kids meals.

Plastics update! It’s been so long I forgot about these threads Mood: Happy Current weight:154 (no measurements as I can’t find my tape measure) I’m still very happy with my outcomes but obviously I see little things I want fixed. I would love more fat grafting to my behind and some scar revisions as most of my scars became hypertrophic (I knew the risk and it was still worth it - I just need to have them revised at some point) I think that happens to many people post plastics.
