You have extra energy now! It’s probably been a while since you’ve felt it but you’ll get used to it eventually and figure out what to use it on. Congratulations! -
Surgery: Surgeons plan vs. Tricare approval
GreenTealael replied to Tysheena84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did they tell you what the “program”included? Classes? All specialists and preop appointments? If the surgeon created that timeline (vs insurance approval) you may not be able to speed it up. Sadly, Insurance approval is only submitted when all of the requirements are completed. I believe the average time insurance has to return any authorization is 30 days or less from the time the request is submitted but definitely check your policy to make sure. ❤️ -

Sleeve to Ryn...Help
GreenTealael replied to Mendy323232's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
You will need to talk to the surgeon about the length of the bypass and optimizing it for either additional weight loss or just maintaining your current weight. This *might* dictate how much additional weight you might lose. -

I was never a member of the clean your plate club, so I could see why taking portions you don’t finish might be odd. There are some *hackd* that can be use early on to not attract attention to our food habits. Some of us choose to take *normal looking* portions to disguise amounts eaten. I did this every time I ate with someone who didn’t know I had WLS. I could blame not finishing the food on anything if questioned. There is also the element of not always knowing exactly how much you will eat from meal to meal. I try to estimate what I will eat and stick close to that but there are variables I can’t always predict. And if you’re at a restaurant, forget about it! You’re getting a full size meal unless you make special requests to have only some of your meal brought out and the rest to go. I guess the reason I wanted to start a thread like this was because it would show different eating styles/patterns. Hopefully someone reading it could see their specific concern (am I eating too much/little) and could find proof that others might experience the same thing. *I also enjoy looking at food and was curious when the mythical fullness began* How do you like to serve your meals? Please add pics ❤️ -
In my experience I was always nicotine tested before a major surgery (usually the day of surgery). Honestly it seemed to be more of a medical standard than insurance requirement because it was done for both self pay and covered procedures

Confused on "feeling" hungry & full
GreenTealael replied to BSquared's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I feel the physical effects of real hunger especially if it’s been too long since I’ve eaten. I am easily agitated/annoyed, slight headache, brain fog, etc. I’m also not super picky what I will eat at this point, I just need something quickly. It takers many hours without food for me to get to this point. Fullness after surgery was tricky for me. Sometime I would get the common signals (tightness in the chest, lump in the throat, hiccups, etc.) while eating. And sometimes it was delayed. If it was delayed, I ran the risk of overeating and being very very uncomfortable. I stuck with measuring my meals because it was unpredictable. -
Sleep 💤 improvement address WLS
GreenTealael replied to EsojLabina's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have patterns of insomnia every few months. No clue why and a sleep study didn’t reveal anything useful (No diabetes either). I recently started using magnesium oil instead of pill form and I’ve been told that now I don’t wake at every little noise. -

The bird maybe nesting. This happened to me a couple of months ago, birds singing at night. I was super annoyed. Then I found a little nest with eggs in my hanging fern 😂 -
Getting Closer to VSG & Having Second Thoughts
GreenTealael replied to SelfLoveJourney's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My only regret is not knowing earlier that it was an option for me. Watching shows like 600lb life really skewed my perception of obesity. I really thought you needed to be in that category to qualify. I’m really happy I did it and can barely recognize the obese version of me. I look like the high school version of myself and that is probably the top comments I get from people in real life. -
To Lie or Not to Lie
GreenTealael replied to Officially Not Fatty Matty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oddly enough I also never lie to strangers or casual acquaintances. It feels very low risk for me. However the people I interact with often or know well is another story. I’ve learned to read the room. If someone earnestly/ privately asks I usually just tell them. They are also so happy to see someone in person that is happy with the their results and doing well/not struggling. But I’ve also had experiences where people very publicly/ loudly (nearly shouting across a room) ask how I lost weight. These interactions feel disingenuous and shaming so I don’t take them seriously. I usually tell these people the most complex set of layered diets and activities (Keto, fasting, glucose monitoring, cheat days, mercury retrograde, belly dancing, etc.) in great detail until they are satisfied. Those people can speculate but will never get the (whole) truth from me. BTW Congratulations on your success! -

Faux tonkotsu ramen (vegetarian) Not mine (I did make it) but I wanted to share because it’s not often I accurately track a food I’m not eating. This seems like a lot of calories to me but I’m sure it’s less than normal because it’s homemade -

Not exactly the same but similar! Couscous is made from crushed semolina and steamed while pastas are made from ground semolina and boiled. This is probably why I can handle the texture (I had to Google the difference) -

Joining in because I actually cooked last night! Buffalo cauliflower wings (Airfryer) battered then dredged in breadcrumbs Served with Couscous, hummus carrots and cucumbers. My plate is the one with the spoonful of couscous. I generally hate pasta but I’m a ok with it if it’s not too mushy (it was). I’m still not making it for myself 🚫
