    Methadone maintenance and gastric sleeve

Please consult the surgical group. Usually this is something they address with a pharmaceutical clinician (correct me if I'm wrong) to hammer out all of these details before surgery so you know exactly what to expect.
  2. Not a smoker so I can't relate. But it's really tough I've watched plenty of family and friends try to give it up. Some succeed some don't. What I did notice was the successful ones felt like the choice was theirs so they had a level of control over the process. They didn't feel backed into a corner by society. I'm no therapist but perhaps that's the place to start. And if there's still time perhaps other non patch pharma help . Or stair stepping down with ecigs as the above poster mentions. Do you have time for something like that? What is your surgery target month?

    Home work-out vs gym

Gym will have better tools (unless you have a crazy home gym ) and added motivation of getting in and out. But if it's too far, too crowded too anything you hate you'll probably never go.. Home will have comfort and ease.no crowds or unwanted onlookers But if you lack self sustaining motivation you will fail, too easy to be distracted Motivation is the key. I do both and alternative depending on mood but I always do something even if it's just 15 mins
  4. Thanks!!! But I meant to write my starting weight was 249 surgical weight was 238. Also I had a sleeve not a RNY, so our situations will not be similar. You will loss faster and go into maintenance sooner. I have about 16 months more months of slow weight loss ahead of me...

    Post op pain when walking

It's the abdominal muscles trying to repair themselves. Muscle pain lasts a while but it will get better a little bit each day. I still had intense pain for about 2.5 weeks then one day nothing at all! Then I sneezed and was brought back to reality. But eventually no more pain.
  6. I don't think it was one major thing : Time management of getting all the fluids and protein sources in. What I didn't realize is that it would become more possible over time. I still struggle sometimes but I track and use alarms. Not to sound high and mighty (because I'm not) but Im so grateful I don't have food issues like cravings, I can't imagine how rough that would be. If it's off plan (within reason ) I don't even come close. I even went as far as to sneak protein chips into the movie theater (shhhhh don't tell) If I'm hungry while out and can't find anything plan approved I buy a protein shake, a juicebar smoothie that will have protein, unsweetened drink or coffee and work on hydration until I get home. But I really need to work on eating dense proteins, I'm choosing easier ones (like egg and cheese ) because they are ... easy but according to my NUT that doesn't help my system go back to normal Realizing my journey will never be like the rapid weight loss stories I hear about. So far absolutely no complications. But I stall often and lose slowly. I started at 249 and now im at 209 at 2 months post op. Slow but I hope steady. I could live with that. I hope that helps

    Protein in diet

it gets easier with time (barring any medical problems like stricture) Plus you're only 4 weeks out, they expect you to work up to the goal by three months I believe. Try setting a schedule Wake up Hydrate 8 oz in 30 mins Wait 30 mins (prep, cook, bathe, hair etc) Eat breakfast for 30 mins Wait 30 mins (driving to work etc) Hydrate 16oz in 1 hour (water, protein drinks, etc) ....

    Protein comparisons

The only recommendation make by my NUT was at least 15g of protein per serving and less than 5g of sugar. Other than that it was what you could tolerate. Pure protein makes a powder also (I've see a giant tub at Sam's club) . Powder is more cost effective yet pressed is convenient. So a mixture of both may be necessary to make life easy. *I would however suggest waiting until after surgery to buy large quantities on anything. And then you may want to test out a few to find what works well. I had to return SO many products (including $50 tub of Isopure and 3 cases of clear protein drinks) because although I tolerated them perfectly prior to surgery, after was a different story and even now I have to rotate brands. And if you decide to buy bulk make sure you know the return/refund policy. Hope that helps

2.5 years out - Sleeve stretching / Weight gain?

This sounds rough. Losing a loved one is very hard. May I ask what kind of food choices you were making during weight gain periods? Also do you still see your surgeon or are your follow up visits only yearly?

    Stall

No I just came off a three week stall... I tried very hard to bump up protein , vitamins and water. I asked my NUT about this on Tuesday and she recommended increasing things not decreasing (excluding carbs fat sugars etc) Her options for me were more fiber, water exercise, sleep, protein etc. Hope this helps...

    Macros on point

So excited y'all Today I finally surpassed my macro levels! I'm 2.5 months and was a little lost until I saw my NUT yesterday. I was told I was losing slower than expected so we went over a food schedule and plan. It helped so much . Dhebwanted me to eat more substantial proteins not just things that were easy. She's it kick start my digestive system to work harder after having a long break. Here's what I had today: Breakfast (8 am) 3 oz or two eggs with 1ounce of cheese Hydrate 8oz or decaf coffee with 2 tbsp of cream Lunch (11 am)1/2 egg with 2 slices of turkey breast deli meat Hydrate 16.9 water Hydrate 16.9 water Supper (4pm) 1 cup of pink bean stew cook with onions garlic and tomato sauce (homemad recipe so the macros may be off on this one) Hydrate 16.9 water Dinner (7pm) 2/3 naked turkey burger with 1/4 tsp mustard and ketchup Hydrate ( 5 oz sugar free hot chocolate with 5.5 oz premier caramel protein shake added ) About 1000 cal, 79g protein, 68g carbs (seems awfully high, Idk if this is correct ) , 25g sugar, 37g fat Working harder tomorrow to increase the protein and reduce everything else
