1 week to surgery and I'm freaking out
GreenTealael replied to k_nephew's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Amazing advice -
Ask your Doctor if he also meant water

Hi there I'm new to WLS so I still attend support groups and here's what they say to consider about regain: How much have you regained? Have you changed your habits? (Eating, exercise, sleep, work, etc.) Any new medical issues or life changes? Have you seen your Primary or Surgeon recently? I've also heard some chatter that something happen around year 3-4 that are unavoidable that prompt weight gain (idk the validity I'm 6 months out) But take a strong honest look at yourself then seek MEDICAL ADVICE from your Medical team first And you totally got this ... Again

This is the same as someone wishing you Merry Christmas assuming you are Christian, people use their own reference points to relate to others to show sympathy , empathy, joy , and all other emotions. It can get repetitively annoying but it is a chance to educate someone on how to respond to a diverse population

Try logging food in an app like myfitnesspal of baritastic because it helps keeps you honest

Some people have smooth sailing all the way through BUT some have complication after complication. That is a possible outcome you must consider (squared) and then factor in twin infants... You will require some level of help but no telling until after surgery . After surgery you need to spend alot of time focusing on your recovery. Your children are still very young and will require A LOT of help with everything. Staggering will give the help needed and a realistic view of life after. Safe journey!

Stagger even if only by a few weeks / months to make sure everyone and everything is okay. Too many variables to consider. Safe journey!

Bye Bye Sugar...
GreenTealael replied to Love2Travel816's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will help if you start switching sugar out for subs like splenda or stevia (what i did) it will take time and effort but will work with dedication. As for chocolate... Start switching milk chocolate out with its higher quality ancient originator cacao (not to be confused with cocoa) well worth the coin and your body will thank you ! -

How do you, personally, define a carb?

Can you please give us a sample of your diet while you were still losing? -
Did your NUT give you a sample meal plan?
-
OK so i had the EXACT same problem as you ... Not technically eating anything wrong but... MY NUT said that most of these are slider foods which means it leaves you hungrier quicker. I was told to begin to add dense source of proteins and vegetables to every meal. Thats it. The supplements and bars was to be used if i absolutely could not get food on the go

Can you give a sample daily menu?

How do you, personally, define a carb?
GreenTealael replied to Little Green's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Im a newbie so i read and log everything. So a carb is a carb, fat is a fat, etc. I dont eat many processed or packaged foods so i have to rely heavily on MFP for accountabililty. I mostly stay away from breads rice pasta etc because i had my fill pre surg and a little after. My carbs also tend to come from fruits legumes and vegetables. I am not in maintainance so im going easy... -
I drink A LOT of tea (lol thats why i chose my user name) but nothing specific to the needs Of WLS community. IDK what is hunt water?
-
Tea, BTW All liquids (broths and icepops too ) can count towards your liquid goals not just plain water. I made that mistake early on.
-
I find that reminders, alarms, visually pleasing bottles, fancy detox style waters , zero cal hot drinks (basically making it fun) makes it easier I like the true lemon line of water enhancers but it is not sugar free , i think i use the sugar stevia blend but i cant do too much artificial sweeteners and i get enough in my protein shakes.

Weight gain and sleeve reset
GreenTealael replied to KristinJ78's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Zero calorie Sugar free mixes like crystal light mio even walmart or store brands but not sure about the v8 -
I decided to do a min sleeve reset because my NUT wanted me to lower my kcals (im almost 7 months post op and was at 1200 kcals ) and summer means summer body lol Here is what happened Did not do the full version because i never went off plan instead i backtracked and enjoyed: 1/2 cup of Cottage cheese with basil and 1 strawberry for breakfast Iced coffee and 5.5oz of caramel premier shake for lunch 1 oz of cashews with 8 dark chocolate drops for snack 4-5oz of Poached salmon for dinner 64-80oz of liquids I did the same menu for about a week slowly adding things back in like salad fruit rye crackers keeping my macros and kcals on point This week i will have cottage cheese for breakfast iced coffee for snack salmon for lunch and chicken salad for dinner So meal prep is important What i noticed is i can detect my full sensation quicker, bowel movements daily(sometimes 2x tmi sorry) weightloss seems to have picked up again, the reset didnt need to be a huge production -seems like you can just decide to start one if you feel like, if i skip nuts im around 700 kcal with nuts 1000 (where my NUT wants my upperlimit at for now.) Just putting this info out for anyone curious.

Help....losing to much weight
GreenTealael replied to millerla4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nuts can easily increase your caloric intake HOWEVER please talk to your Surgeon, NUT etc because medical advice is best coming from your medical team there maybe something important that needs to be addressed. -
OMG CONGRATS ! NOW ITS A PARTY !
