How important is Exercise?
GreenTealael replied to Creekimp13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I honesty don't work out a lot, i do walk some, but I have not made rigorous exercise the priority during the beginning stages of this journey. Exercise is mentioned and included as part of the program but there are tons of patients that for medical reasons just can't do a lot of it (me included) so diet is focused on more. -

Salmon (Freshly poached/baked or pouched or canned salmon) hand mixed with various spices, a whole egg and binder of your choice (I use ground almonds, whole chia seed ,flax meal and kale) form into round Patty and pan fry med temp in 1/2 inch or less of oil until golden brown on both sides. Voilà. -
The lighter I have gotten, the lighter my cycle has gotten. I don't know for sure if there is a direct connection but I believe so.

Can you postpone to think about it more instead of canceling ? To talk it over with the surgeon, your family and then decide? Chances are if you cancel now because of this without really thinking it through, you'll be at this same point 2 years later wishing you did it, especially if you need it being a revision.

Congrats, let the healing begin! Safe journey again!

How are you doing after surgery @saygrace?

It does work, I don't now why, but every month I revert to the beginning stages: liquids and soft foods for about two day and my restriction is very high again.

For those who have lost weight- how does it feel to be thin?
GreenTealael replied to Elle_Woods's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It feels a lot like the old younger you but better rested, breathing easier and with extra energy no caffeine needed. You fit in the spaces you believe you should but previously didn't, like the regular bathroom stalls, getting in and out of cars happens in an instant and without lots of sound effects, and you don't have to constantly worry about being big and ALL it entails. Not obsessing over anything these days, happy to have gotten when I am so far, and where I land , I'll be happy there too. -

Are you willing to join these before and after photos that showcase your diet? I started this thread because it focuses on something very positive and it has nothing to do with how a person looks. -
It is hard emotionally if you are not exactly ready, but you have arrived. Only way is forward, and it does get better. You can do it, day by day you'll win every emotional battle that you are willing to fight. Stay Hydrated, read/paint/watch trash TV, stay busy, try to be positive but throw a pity party when you need to. You absolutely got this! Safe Journey!!!!

Should weight matter in a relationship?
GreenTealael replied to Numbheart's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have personally never seen people break up solely because of weight gain or loss, there always seems to be a different problem lurking in the background and this is the easier thing to pick as the motive (even when its closely related its usually health issues caused by it) People who want to be together find ways of making it work and last in healthy balanced ways. Others can't wait for a legitimate "looking" reason to escape without seeming like the villain. -

Yes ,I don't tolerate bovine products well (not lactose intolerance) so I have to pick and choose which items I will suffer for. Life long struggle. Generally yogurt, kefir and some cheeses are OK but milk and meat are a no go for me. I live near farms so ive tried farm fresh as well. Sometimes I'm OK with half and half and isolates, but I have to cycle those out with vegan sub's. One of the reasons I was a vegetarian for so long. My body is just built for it. As for the almond milk, I don't need it for the protein, I get that from food, and there aren't many carbs in it either. Attached is the label -

Hey @Bryn910 you're going to have left overs for days! -
Check in with your team and ask them to explain the mechanics again, always helpful to hear it from the pros
-
Some foods are easier to eat larger amounts of, usually they are softer in texture, some people (me) lovingly call them sliders . Not a big deal when its protein based and you need the macros, a much bigger deal when the foods hold little to no nutritional value for your current lifestyle (crackers-no judgment I promise). To help with this you can eat only the recommended size (1/4-1/2 cup), watch out for these sliders and make sure you are eating for 30 mins or less (part of the 30/30/30 rule) because the stomach does eventually empty (it can happen while you are eating) Eating for longer periods means you'll be replacing cals too quickly and runs the risk of grazing (which means higher cal consumption effectively canceling out the effects of the surgery) Check with your team for more clarity

What is considered a stall?
GreenTealael replied to QTRNY2018's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Annoying to hear but stalls usually work themselves out, that being said, shake up your routine a little to confuse your metabolism. You could try more water, more cals, more exercise, more protein, more fiber less cals, less carbs, less fats ,less exercise (never less water) , soft food, solid food rotations like Vegetable and Chicken days , ricotta bake only days etc. Just something different or nothing at all! but stay within your plan guidelines and check with your team for more guidance. -
Vitamin Patches - Can we trust them?
GreenTealael replied to BajanSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Give them a try but the moment you see signs of a deficiency use standard vitamins and check in with your GP to run labs. a lot of vitamin deficiency are dangerous, can't stress this enough. I've been told NOT to use them by my team but i am super curious about the efficacy, other patch delivery mechanisms seem to work, i.e. nicotine , why not this? if the vitamins are in them at all i guess is the issue...
