Debunking the Starbucks Post (Nooooo!)
GreenTealael replied to Strivingfor5K's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for this info! The only thing I ever get from Starbucks these days is an Earl Grey with half & half and sugar free vanilla. I refuse to ask for a London fog because there’s an up charge. Tazo makes the closest sugar free chai concentration that I could find. -
You look great! I can’t see the details on the jacket but does the waist adjust with a cord and toggle stoppers?

Oh no! Well if it’s any consolation I’m trying to regrow my lettuce from the stalk. If it works (and is fairly easy) I’ll let you know if that may be an option. -

Slightly curried chicken salad wrap. This was two meals worth of food but the log shows the total for all of it. I used to eat lettuce wraps constantly because I like them and I couldn’t find good low carb substitutes. For me this what returning to basics would look like (not going back to a liquid diet). What does everyone’s “back to basics” include/remove? -

Kimchi is so good. For reference, I would liken it to a Korean version of sauerkraut with way more spice. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kimchi -

You’re so good at it. I really hoped (at some point) we would have a cost analysis of the Bariatric lifestyles to show that food waste isn’t that significant and saving money in one area can free it up for other things (and maybe make it more inclusive/budget friendly) -
@Arabesque looks so nice @Kris77 had to say it thrice 😂.

Everyone looks fabulous and summer (winter for @Arabesque) ready! ❤️

We have all likely experienced some sort of discrimination while being obese. However research is proving that there are positive and negative financial effects to being perceived as normal weight vs overweight. https://www.psypost.org/2021/08/deep-machine-learning-study-finds-that-body-shape-is-associated-with-income-61683 https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0254785 Did obesity affected your income? Did it improved after WLS?

Sopa de Frijoles Negros (minimalist version ) this is 1 cup and I ate less than half because I added the amount of salt that the recipe called for but it was too salty for me. Greek yogurt parfait (1 cup of yogurt) with local honey (fighting allergies) crumbled sesame seed brittle and 7 cherries on the bottom. -
Condolences to you and your family.

Cinnamon swirl and raisin spice bread! Apparently I make bread so infrequently now that I didn’t know that my bread machine was on the fritz. I had to use the oven. Not doing this again for a while. -

I ❤️ Scones! I think my favorites have always been lemon poppy or orange cranberry. I haven’t had one in a couple of years because the bakery I went to stripped down their menu thanks to the pandemic. So I began to make them but along the way everyone in my family was over eating baked goods. I still can’t believe we were all making sourdough starters and decadent confections. Now I get absolutely angry if a meal requires that I turn on the oven. 😂 -
A long post for a little reassurance
GreenTealael replied to loli_lotus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Other people, although well intentioned, will never have to live in your body or mind. If your medical doctor came around to the idea of surgery for your improved health, that should carry some weight. Also if insurance approved the procedure, that means at least one other medical professional believes it is now medically appropriate/necessary for you to have Bariatric surgery. As always you get to chose, free from shame or ridicule, what to do with your body. -

This was my meal from lunch with @Sophie7713. Chicken souvlaki complete with salad, fries, pita, hummus and tzatziki sauce. This is probably the biggest plate of food I’ve seen place before me in years. Obviously I didn’t pay attention to the the fact that it was an entree not a small plate/appetizer. This became 4 separate meals (I ate leftovers 🥹) with some that was tossed in the end. Still it was very good. And a yesterday this was my version of a pita plate with carrots, beets, cucumber and hummus. It was shared with one of my teens.
