    Pouch Reset

I used to mini reset every month to reevaluate my foods, choices etc. But I would just go from soft foods on in a very clean minimal ingredient way. Are you gaining/stalled/just curious?

I'm obsessed with well done period pieces...
  5. I believe sleep/night eating can be a sign of a circadian pattern disturbance. It happens to me on certain meds, recently started again (after 5years) 3m post op but I was able to defeat it again. I'll try to find some literature...
  6. Lol well I just told a friend of mine that I just want to roll around in bed with a can of chocolate covered cashews, so...
  7. I know right! But the eggs were on the smaller side and it's was after a workout and walked home 1.5 miles from the gym while eating. I had it over the course of 30ish mins, I usually eat for less because my stomach empties if overfilled. And nuts are total sliders for me but I actually needed the cals and energy, for once lol, but the kind bar was a waste of time and cals. The chicken... I honestly think I'm not built for it. But I had to finish what I have around then vegetarian here I come! I didn't even eat more than a bite of the cauliflower honestly lol I'm feeling better, thanks for asking! honestly I think it was the flu even though I'm not calling it flu season yet. It felt like flu and I was down for too long, too out of it.

    I don't understand!!!

When you're struggling and it's hard to be positive, believe me I understand fully, try to lean on the momentum of others wherever you can find it until yours picks up again. Please visit the NSV threads...

    My Doctor

Ask the surgeons office to refer you to a new primary doctor they work with for just this sort of thing, believe me they have them.

    silly question

Ask your team and seriously consider following their advice to the letter, BUT If you choose to do otherwise I highly suggest you try everything you want to have that day well in advance of the event so that there are no surprises and you don't ruin the big day by being sick (but even with this method there are no guarantees) Congrats!
  13. Congrats on all of your hard work! I'm not sure it matters but go with what you are day of surgery since that is when the forced metabolic shift will occur. Someone more knowledgeable, please chime in... I only lost 10lbs in the months leading up to surgery, but around 30 in the year prior. I go by the BMI range I should be in, as faulty as that system is, because it is what my team uses.

    I don't understand!!!

Hey there, check the total sodium content for your days (if you log) and where you are in your cycle, these things do affect your weight because they cause water retention. Also constipation is like a false gain. Food (by oz) goes in but doesn't all get converted to energy and if nothing is coming out, but should be, it'll look like your up 1 or 2lbs until it's resolved.

5 months post op before & after

    🔥 Amazing 🔥
  16. It's a % of your EBW (excess body weight) so say 65-70% of your EBW is the average expected loss in perfect conditions. Some will lose a lot more , some a lot less Caution: it's definitely a curve and people will end up on all points of it depending upon MANY MANY MANY factors and ultimately your body will decide where you land Safe Journey!

    Reflux and VSG??

It's case by case unfortunately. I've heard people with severe reflux insisting on VSG over RNY and reflux was cured, I've heard people with no history of GERD developing it out of the blue, I've heard people in the clear for years and years only to develop it later and now need the revision with no weight regain problems (all tales from my team) Generally if GERD is an issue a surgeon will suggest RNY and depending on the outcome of testing it may be the only option. But if all things are equal the decision will be yours, you have to decide if you want the possibility of another surgery if the need arises.

Post op pain - be honest

Pain levels are completely subjective... The hospital will try and manage your pain from awaking, let them. Ask for more time in house if your insurance will cover it. Make sure you feel well enough to go home alone or you'll end up going back.
  19. It's always an IF day for me lol, Fasted from 1230 am to 330 pm so short fast, BUT there was a gym trip in there so yay! Finished eating at 7pm because I'm full & interested in trying the earlier IF eating window. I had protein coffee (modified IF), water, teas, protein bar (after work out/break the fast but too sweet so only 3/4 then tossed it) ,so I got 2 boiled eggs and plain peanuts (much better) and for dinner ~2oz of sweet and sour chicken and a cauliflower floret. I'm stuffed. Kind bar 9g protein 187.5 cals, boiled eggs 14g protein 140 cals, peanuts 9g protein 270 cals, premier shake 22.5g protein 120 cals, chicken & vegetables ~10g protein ~ 200 cals, half and half 4g protein 80 cal Well over 60g protein, ~1100 cal Logging here first, then MFP.
  20. Last night my Bariatric group had an award ceremony to honor all the patients, families and the team. We listened to the stories of a lot of people, cried a ton and even my mild manned meek surgeon spoke (rare, very rare) I was too nervous to get up and speak this year, my first event, but next year I will. So I'll leave my story of appreciation here. Please leave yours also. Jan '17 started having A LOT of vision issues, basically going blind, big problem for an artist/photographer/human. Went to Opthalmologist and she saw extreme swelling on optic nerve, sent me to ER, confirmed somewhat rare neurological condition that would require meds , 3 neurosurgeries and weight loss. Couldn't believe it I was healthy obese lol, vegan etc. Just lost 30lbs on my own, Fooling myself... At my wits end and after 3 different neurosurgeon consults I was not confident I would be any better after brain surgery. I cried alot & I decided weight loss because what's the since in still risking developing more issues later, but they stressed that it had to be alot and fast. Lightbulb. Same day, same day went to info session for my surgeon. Decided that day to do it. Dr. Mehul Trivedi. Told him my story, he told me his, said it could be done, did it before. He was right. I'm not totally fine, probably will never be, my fault, staying so heavy for so long, cautionary tale, but I don't think I'll get worse. I'm so thankful to the Creator for the advancements in modern medicine and those who can execute it properly. This practice won a 2018 Women's choice award, they make you feel like family, you'll see the PA, Tyler (increadibly amazing) and NUT, Beth (absolutely amazing) more than the surgeon but that's because he's Always in surgery. I'm cool with that. The first time I saw the Mona Lisa it was on a "farewell to my sight tour" the last time it was "I'll see you again". Grateful.
