I Feel Like My Surgeon's Office Is Stringing Me Along
GreenTealael replied to Boldilocks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I used to have this health plan too as I worked for the State as well, congrats it is great. No the application to the insurance company comes at the bitter end and it's usually what we are all nervously waiting for. You go through all the other appts to gather "proof" and submit as "evidence" then they make a ruling on your "case" I would ask what that flag was all about. It could be as simple as needing to get a new card, to there being a change in policy. You'll want to know ahead of time. If you are in a rush, tell them you have a time frame you want to have to the surgery in. You may have come off as not having a pressing deadline/urgent need because of the vacation. You can also absolutely contact the insurance company itself and find out the requirements that need to be met to qualify for coverage (ask for it in writing) Safe Journey! -
The wound care aspect may be easier for this surgery than the breast reduction. It is hard but I'm sure he will be fine. He's an adult totally capable of caring for himself, or learning to... quickly Safe Journey!

How fast can I bounce back?
GreenTealael replied to jpginny's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Meh... Some people will say that they could have, I will say I couldn't have. How well/quick do you recover from the flu or major Illnesses, pain thresholds, age and current medical issues may be a slight indicators. But there is an element of chance that will shut all of that down. Can you do it during the semester break? That maybe more realistic... -
Because they tend to have less calories and problematic types of fats. I'd double check with a doctor on fat content in maintenance.

1. With the sleeve you have to always be vigilant for the signs of GERD and act fast, 12 days, months or years down the road. 2. I drink at least 30oz before eating anything in the AM. Is a mixture of water, tea and coffee. Hydration goals are underrated. 3. Kept it a secret. I had very good reasons and still do but people want to know how I did it and I will tell strangers the truth if I think it will help them but say diet modifications to plain old nosey people. I feel deceptive, although technically it's the truth. 4. DRINK WATER. You skin will bounce back quicker. Detruction of brown adipose will happen faster. You will have more energy. Water (pure) is essential. Congratulations and safe journey!

Food Before and After Photos
GreenTealael replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Issa another Green Smoothie? Yup. Even bigger than before. Absolutely. Lol. In the past I would have gotten the coconut water base , insisted in mejool dates being added although there was already tons of fruit then topped it with agave syrup. Why? Sugar addict. Gave that up.make them at home with 1/8th the cals and very low sugar content. So this is a real before and after of lifestyle changes I've made even though I thought I was doing great before. -

Pseudotumor Cerebri
GreenTealael replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My neurosurgeon likes to perform an angiogram to see if the are blocked sinus something, can't remember, in addition to the IIH and put in stents when those are an issue. But sometimes it cannot be resolved simply... If you decide to go for it, we as a community support you. -

Pseudotumor Cerebri
GreenTealael replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
They can't ever know your current opening pressure without a LP which will indicate, improvements, declines or stability of the fluid production. I have IIH. I also see a Neuroopthamologist, Neurologist and Neurosurgeon. Lost 90lbs , in the 150s. Optic swelling greatly reduced. Headaches still present (but that may just be me) the real issue is are you going to give up again if you don't get the results you want ? If so then you may not be ready for this because it's two separate fights. I lost all this weight and I'm still having IIH issues and probably always will, but at least I reduced my risks of other preventable, controllable ailments... -

Question: did you ever take any meds along with the weight loss, change your diet and get regular lumbar punctures? Also what was/is your starting weight? -

A lot of us ranting here about annoyances never answer the posts that annoy us, or doing so rudely. But rants and raves really need to remain a safe space for venting, appropriately, without a lot of moderation.
