Thanks! I feel like my hat is leaning a little more towards Chaplin than I’d like 🤣

    Food macro tracker

That’s a pity. Maybe try a few free apps first then decide. Good luck and you got this ❤️

Hat time! This was dropping my middle child off at college (yay!) Also what I think I look like vs what I actually look like 😂

Have you tried the free version of MyFitnessPal? That might be enough to start with. Baritastic is another free app that is user friendly and has a good front end design.

    Got my date!

    Congratulations!

Back to basics, just kidding. Salmon pâté - This is still a staple in my lazy food arsenal because there is 15g of protein in the pâté. I could have done without the crackers but I wanted them and now I’m overly full 🙄.

Drinks edition since I’ve been fighting off a cold. I finally found a sugar free pre made chai latte (but not as good as the reduced sugar version) and my current favorite electrolyte drink
  11. I like the word Portly 😂
  12. Late but joining! Definitely the words pouch and forever give me the “ick” even though I’m guilty of using them.

    Significant Other & Comments

Early post op I was “food policed” by one of the few people I disclosed surgery to even though I never ate off plan. It’s annoying but maybe family and friends just think it becomes their new role during this time. However, the additional scrutiny never felt hurtful because of the way things were said. Everything was phrased as a question and never done in a tone that was hurtful (I don’t thank him enough for this to be honest). If your feelings were hurt, you may be picking up on (what feels like) judgement or condescension. I second having a conversation about this early on before it gets worse and there is resentment. And congratulations on a safe and successful surgery ❤️

    Sleeve to Bypass for Reflux

I had it done 3+ yrs ago and no more GERD. Recovery was also easier since I knew what to expect.

Thank goodness I’m not alone. I seriously thought it was just me having a challenging week 😪

Salad time because I’m back to not cooking. Is anyone else absolutely exhausted or is it just me?
  17. I had a classic anastomotic stenosis and it was resolved with one dilation during the diagnostic endoscopy. I could eat just fine but very, very quickly (within minutes) everything came back up, no retching necessary and absolutely nothing but clear liquids stayed down. Of course everyone is different and symptoms of strictures vary.
  18. You might just be experiencing the normal healing process but definitely get it checked out if you think something is really off. I had a stricture right after revision to RNY and the symptoms was not nausea and gurgling but a hard lump in the throat followed by projectile vomiting without notice. The only thing that stayed down were clear liquids. An endoscopy will diagnose a stricture and if they do a dilation you should feel some relief pretty quickly. Get well soon!

    At least 3 Years Postop!

At 5yrs out, I still mostly choose meals with lower calories when eating at restaurants even if I want the higher calorie meal more. Having calories displayed on menus is a game changer for me. Also I rarely have drinks with calories and when I do they are usually 60 calories or under and once per day.
  20. I was revised from VSG to RNY over three years ago. I can say that my lifestyle and routine is about 95% the same as VSG (and about 75% the same as pre WLS.) I think I was back to what I considered normal in about 4 months after surgery. Your experience may vary of course. The 5% margin of difference between VSG and RNY was the immediate post op period where I had to adjust to new bathroom habits and figuring out exactly which food I no longer could tolerate. Now even the things I didn’t tolerate immediately I can have in some amount and some things I just don’t want at all (super sugary sweet stuff). I can’t speak to the weight loss aspect because I was at my goal and have pretty much stayed there, but the reflux/GERD is gone and has not returned, yet (although unlikely anything is possible). Good luck

    Food Before and After Photos

Vegan bruschetta w/hummus and cucumber- Before and After. I made a much larger version for my mostly vegan child to show her it was a very quick meal (5 mins) because she only ever makes either a complicated breakfast or nothing at all (but either way she’s annoyed 🙄) BTW I’m eating off of a lid to tupperware because I’m in a stand-off with the child who is supposed to do dishes.
  22. First congratulations on life settling back to normal, getting to goal and meeting someone. I (personally) think it’s a little tricky to tell people about WLS but I don’t think you should feel like a liar or imposter. Your family maybe right about there being no moral or ethical obligation to tell (and only a slight medical obligation when the situation calls for it) but it still feels awkward because you’re hiding something that’s important to you. I personally think that you should tell him when you are truly comfortable or when it’s really relevant (whichever happens first). The perfect segue is if more medical conversations come up or if you need him to be your emergency contact/medical proxy. When I started dating after WLS I only mentioned it to potential partners that I believed were worth telling. I’ve been in a relationship with someone for 3+ years now and I believe I told him pretty early on because we spoke about a lot of different topics for extended periods of time and it felt “safe”. Good luck!

    Food Before and After Photos

I’m absolutely exhausted with eating out, I don’t like most of the things I order so I’m eating the food I have at home: Lettuce/tomato, pepper couscous and buffalo wings (didn’t eat them) before vs after
