    Hair losssssssss

Hmmm Not certain. I think that's a question for a Dermatologist & I didn't ask mine this o3n particular because I don't think I cared about other hair locations. It could be all over but I'm only guessing that when the hair from your head is shedding in excess vs your legs you just notice/focus on one site more.

  7. Clean out your diet again. You cant stop all of the reasons for hunger returning but you control what you eat when it does. Try eating (clean lean dressing free) salads I will always advocate for this because its really hard to gain *a lot* of weight from romaine, iceberg, kale and spinach leaves but really easy to feel full Sugar free liquids blended with ice feel more substantial and decadent (Its how Starbucks can get away with charging so much for their frappacinos) Now that warm weather is here try experimenting with flavor combos making very low cal high flavor slushies and smoothies. You can TOTALLY win control πŸ†
  8. I was in pain post op for nearly 2 weeks straight then it just stopped. I also did not respond traditionally to morphine (my meds were changed then rotated between tramadol/toridol and hydrocodone but still no measurable relief) Its major surgery. For this one you may have a lower threshold of pain. I would contact my Surgeon/Team and advocate for other types of pain meds until you find one rhat works. But watch carefully and if the pain get worse over time instead of better, you develop a fever, feel terrible in multiple ways, etc let them know immediately. Good luck πŸ’™

    Weight Gain 1yr post VGS

Hi I'm 1.5yrs post op Starting 250ish lowest 150lbs current 155ish I generally don't exercise except walking. This is not meant to be braggadocious but to add to the plot. At my lowest of 150lbs I accidentally overexercised by walking too much in efforts to get my kids to walk more. Lame. At 155lbs I am at my normal level of walking/activity. If i over indulge during a special occasion i may make it up to 158lbs. Then I have to walk a little more and eat less/cleaner for a while to drop the excess. Its a balancing act. But most of us have a range not a fixed number. Its usually +/- a few lbs around a certain weight. (Do you know your maintenance range or Have you yet to maintain a weight post op?) It *may* be possible to lose more weight than you would have ordinarily through exercise and if that level is unsustainable and stops, you may find yourself back to where you would have landed otherwise. HOWEVER Diet matters. A great deal. If you cant burn more calories than you are consuming you gain. You have to consume less (or equal) calories than you metabolize to lose or maintain (simplified version -bio majors help a girl out πŸ˜‚) You can control, to a degree, what will happen by the choices you make. Catching small numbers and adjusting i imagine must feel immeasurably easier than larger gains. Mood/motivation will also play a part. If you've given up/burnt out that's something to address and multiple ways to get support. And always check in with your team to see what professional support and advice they can offer. Good luck πŸ’–

  15. Hi ! I also began IF to curb hunger (works) and I became curious about the health benefits. Having your team on board is nice and also I would not recommend this for anyone who have obsessive compulsive/impulse control/eating disorders without their mental health team on board as well... First do no harm When I presented the idea to my Team (AMAZING & SMOKING HOT Surgical PA actually πŸ˜‚) i was maybe 9 months post op he was totally on board because my labs were good and like other IF VETS say i easily hit macronutrients goals from food and not supplements. His only demand was that i didn't off and do week long water fasts (like in the desert searching for the meaning of life... I promised this- it'll never be in the desert 🏜 πŸ˜‚) good luck

Foodies - honestly how bad is it?

Hey there! One way to see if you can live with the lifestyle changes longterm is to start implementing them prior. The ones you can stick to *may* be the ones that will carry you through permanently (i.e. giving up takeout FOREVER vs only having it for special occasions, not being able to exercise in the gym 24/7 RAIN OR SHINE vs walking in the evenings or giving up bread/rice/pasta FOR ETERNITY vs once a month in maintenance, etc.) Think about what you absolutely will never give up and be honest with yourself about if it will work with the post op lifestyle. The things you can't commit to that will cause burnout maybe more harm than help, but only you will know. I'm no special circumstance on either side of the spectrum when it comes to WLS. Mine was slow and unspectacular. But it got me to where i needed to be. I worked arduously for every lb lost. Had to work different angles to accomplish goals. It wasn't too easy but not an epic struggle either. I have made many concessions and given up many things because ive honestly had a lifetime filled with them anyways (my choice) I'm no self proclaimed foodie because i don't necessarily feel the love with food like some may, but I'm not simply ascetic eating for fuel either. I do have a thread that's dedicated directly to food on the board so can see what people are actually eating. Bowel movements with the sleeve aren't that much different pre/post op. Immediately after surgery for me they started out one way then change to another then stabilize (loose, impacted, just right). But this is usually if there are no complications. This surgery is also referred to as Metabolic Surgery so you have to speak with the Team you choose about the science behind that. It will matter. You will not gain and lose like someone who has not had surgery or their metabolism reset/altered. It *may* be possible to gain/lose on less/more calories than before because your BMR will be lowered/accelerated. I've seen a few posts where people are going in not understanding this and are bewildered later. But there is no precursor to knowing where you will land. Many many many things can effect your outcome. Your journey is going to be as individual as you are. You will have to tailor it around what will work best for you. Team/sites/groups/studies can give you expected outcomes based on averages but you may fall at either end of that haunting bell curve. Or like me just sitting somewhere on the middle of it often eating a salad and being a vigilant watchman again regain. Good Luck πŸ’œ
