Well everyone got to the obvious questions but why did that fruit salad cost 16.95? Foreign (from North America)? -
Have your GERD and attempts to control it well documented by your surgeon. They will likely take you on as a GERD patient instead of a WLS patient ,unless you have significant regain or insignificant losses.

Are you eating a lot but not drinking much fluids (dehydration)? Food addiction is something that mental heath specialist can help you manage. Check in with your team to see what ideas and support they can offer you.

question for everyone who had gastric sleeve
GreenTealael replied to katprincess's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your mom may be legitimately hungry as some people dont feel satified on the early stages of the diet. Things change however with firm/dense protein intake. Also some people still want to eat solely for the joy or comfort of it, so that may be a factor as well. Reflux (which may mimic hunger pains) should be considered and meds usually given early post op to help. Is she taking anything? Also a drastic change in lifestyle and other medications entering and leaving the system can affect sleep and mood as well. Start or stop anything recently? Also a reasonable amount of time to completely heal and return to normal is important. Some people don't bounce back quickly. Patience is important but be aware of sudden declines as people should get better with time. When you say she drinks a lot of water (but cannot urinate) i think in excess of the recommended 64 oz daily. Is this what you mean as well? Is there a way for you to track exact amounts (good info for doctors to have) ? Perhaps it's time to split up her questions to different doctors besides her bariatric surgeon. They only handle the one thing. Perhaps speak with the Primary to see if there is a need for a visit to the Urologist and also mood/mental health referrals for a Therapist. If I was someone going through this I would ultimately just want to feel completely supported. Try to be patient and tolerant, let her journey be self guided but advocate for her when she needs you to. Good luck💖 -
🙌 Amazing rockstars 🙌 I will only eat gelato on vacay if i want to test my boundaries again 😂 But ive had a lot of Halo Top post surgery (testing all the flavors 😂) and i must say they have a good scam going 😂😂 no way those flavors are low calorie. Hmmm Not certain. I think that's a question for a Dermatologist & I didn't ask mine this o3n particular because I don't think I cared about other hair locations. It could be all over but I'm only guessing that when the hair from your head is shedding in excess vs your legs you just notice/focus on one site more.

HUNGER MONSTER HAS RETURNED WITH A VENGEANCE
GreenTealael replied to shoregirl75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Clean out your diet again. You cant stop all of the reasons for hunger returning but you control what you eat when it does. Try eating (clean lean dressing free) salads I will always advocate for this because its really hard to gain *a lot* of weight from romaine, iceberg, kale and spinach leaves but really easy to feel full Sugar free liquids blended with ice feel more substantial and decadent (Its how Starbucks can get away with charging so much for their frappacinos) Now that warm weather is here try experimenting with flavor combos making very low cal high flavor slushies and smoothies. You can TOTALLY win control 🏆 -
Day 1 - I'm in SO MUCH PAIN - advice please
GreenTealael replied to JanJan19's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was in pain post op for nearly 2 weeks straight then it just stopped. I also did not respond traditionally to morphine (my meds were changed then rotated between tramadol/toridol and hydrocodone but still no measurable relief) Its major surgery. For this one you may have a lower threshold of pain. I would contact my Surgeon/Team and advocate for other types of pain meds until you find one rhat works. But watch carefully and if the pain get worse over time instead of better, you develop a fever, feel terrible in multiple ways, etc let them know immediately. Good luck 💙 -

Weight Gain 1yr post VGS
GreenTealael replied to Mkthomas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I'm 1.5yrs post op Starting 250ish lowest 150lbs current 155ish I generally don't exercise except walking. This is not meant to be braggadocious but to add to the plot. At my lowest of 150lbs I accidentally overexercised by walking too much in efforts to get my kids to walk more. Lame. At 155lbs I am at my normal level of walking/activity. If i over indulge during a special occasion i may make it up to 158lbs. Then I have to walk a little more and eat less/cleaner for a while to drop the excess. Its a balancing act. But most of us have a range not a fixed number. Its usually +/- a few lbs around a certain weight. (Do you know your maintenance range or Have you yet to maintain a weight post op?) It *may* be possible to lose more weight than you would have ordinarily through exercise and if that level is unsustainable and stops, you may find yourself back to where you would have landed otherwise. HOWEVER Diet matters. A great deal. If you cant burn more calories than you are consuming you gain. You have to consume less (or equal) calories than you metabolize to lose or maintain (simplified version -bio majors help a girl out 😂) You can control, to a degree, what will happen by the choices you make. Catching small numbers and adjusting i imagine must feel immeasurably easier than larger gains. Mood/motivation will also play a part. If you've given up/burnt out that's something to address and multiple ways to get support. And always check in with your team to see what professional support and advice they can offer. Good luck 💖 -
