Keto Bagels Recipe These Keto bagels will make you very, very happy! Thanks to the ingenious mozzarella (Fathead) dough, they are gluten free and low in carbs. Course Breakfast Cuisine British Keyword gluten free bagels, keto bagels, low carb bagels Prep Time 10 minutes Cook Time 20 minutes Total Time 30 minutes Servings 6 Calories 231 kcal Author Katrin Ingredients 1 1/2 cup / 175g shredded mozzarella 1 cup / 100g almond flour extra fine. 1 1/4 cup / 125 g when using ground almonds / almond meal 1 egg, large, beaten 4 tbsp / 50g cream cheese 1 tbsp psyllium husk powder 1 tsp baking powder poppy / sesame seeds optional Instructions Preheat the oven to 180 Celsius / 360 Fahrenheit Melt the mozzarella and cream cheese in the microwave (1 1/2 minutes on high) or in a non stick pan. In another bowl, mix the dry ingredients - almond flour, psyllium husk powder and baking powder. Add dry ingredients plus the beaten egg to the mozzarella. Combine with a spatula, then knead with your hands until you have a smooth dough. Alternatively, mix in a stand mixer or food processor. Form a large ball and cut into 6 segments. Form each segment into a log, lay them down in a circle and pinch the ends together to make bagel shapes. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with poppy seeds or sesame seeds. Bake for ca 20 minutes or until lightly browned on top. Recipe Notes If the dough is sticky, lightly oil your hands. It is easier to handle once it cools. The dough should be room temperature when it goes in the oven. This prevents the bagels from flattening in the oven. The bagel shapes should be tall and the hole a decent size (check my images). When the bagels rise, they also spread a little. This way you ensure your end product looks good. If you're using coarse almond flour / almond meal / ground almonds, increase the amount to 125 g / 1 1/4 cup. The bagels firm as they cool down. They can be reheated in the microwave or lightly toasted. You can store them in the fridge for up to a week or freeze them. One month post op, difficult getting in calories and protein!
GreenTealael replied to MFaulk3's topic in Food and Nutrition
Ask your team for suggestions, especially the nutritionist or dieticians. You may be exactly where they anticipated or need to adjust a few things to get you there. Good Luck π -

I have gained 10lbs in a year and im worried I cant get rid of it and ill gain more!
GreenTealael replied to Nonidarling's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
These are usually high calorie liquids but no satiety, because they go right through you Dense Protein and firm vegetables/leafy greens will help with fullness and hunger control or try something akin to keto but more bariatric friendly (substitute high fat items with leafy vegetables eg kale/romaine instead of bacon/avocado) Here's an example of a keto meal plan for a week -

GreenTealael replied to Coleslaw's topic in Rants & Raves
Rave and Rant away (we've all bern there) You are very early post op so dont fret too much This may change in a few months as *most* people's capacity changes over time. Life will get back to a normal state eventually and you *may* then need to concentrate on how to minimize your intake yet maximize you satiety, so enjoy the ride and rapid weightloss π -

Weight loss stall in phase 2
GreenTealael replied to Here4apurpose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Almost everyone has been there and there are a ton of new threads created daily about stalls. Your body will adjust and start losing again No worriesπ -
You estimated that you eat over 100g carbs daily... But this sounds like an oddly high amount of carbs for just yogurt/tuna/beans/citrus. What kind of yogurt, salad dressings and sauces are you eating in addition? Ex. Chobani blueberry vs Chobani plain yogurt You may need to incorporate less of the carb dense foods (beans are carb heavy, but fiber heavy too) with salads like with 1/4 cup of beans instead of just1 cup of beans

Coming from the perspective of someone who exercises 0 minutes per week of course it seems like a lot, especially if you were seditary before. If you were training for a marathon, the army or emergency responder, i have a feeling they would still think it's a lot/too much because they've seen the old you. They will adjust to the new normal.
