Lap band vs sleeve...help
GreenTealael replied to Blyss's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
From personal experience, I heard the same shocking stories so I opted for VSG which appeared less ... (invasive? harsh? serious? IDK) Well, I needed to be converted about 1.75 yrs in because of GERD (and other stuff) to which I had no prior indications, and this is not a rarity. I don't share this often because I don't want to color anyone's view, because VSG is a fabulous tool for those whom it it appropriate. But if I had known that GERD would be a very real possibility for me I would have gone straight to RNY because that's where I ended up anyway (and would have prevented the need for a second surgery). The majority of the horror stories I heard were exaggerated for effect and from antiquity 😆. These days, as technology and techniques have dramatically improved so have the complications rates. I personally observe very minimal differences between VSG and RNY. Absolutely there will be some people who experience complications from RNY (also MGB/SIPS/DS) But there will also be those who experience complications with VSG especially if you have reflux/heartburn/indigestion/GERD Please carefully consult with your surgeon about the very best surgery for you and please mention the heartburn or any other important information. Good Luck with whichever path you choose ♥️ -

*Vegetarian Stuffed Chicken Parmesan (Ricotta, parmesan & provolone cheese used) Only calling it stuffed because there is a layer of ricotta between the chicken patty and provolone/parm cheese. Also maybe because I could only eat 1/2 before feeling ridiculous 🤣 The vegetarian chicken patty used: -

Is anyone else as disappointed...

Very true! Long term quality of life is important too Also to the OP, there are so many non weight related improvements to focus on down the road. Try to celebrate every little win ♥️ (Sometimes I even forget what life was like before WLS and I'm a measly 2.75 yrs post VSG {1 yr post RNY conversion} how crazy is that, unfortunately I was hit with a pretty strong cross addiction to false eyelashes 😂 I'm not even kidding) -

I also lost weight fairly slowly (compared to what I saw from others) but I promise you, the longevity of your loss ( ie little/no regain) is far more important than the pace. Good luck, stay motivated & consistent ♥️ -

❤My Revision Story❤
GreenTealael replied to GreenTealael's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Thanks ♥️ I just received my lab work and the only concern was that my iron (& ferritin) is low but I'm anemic and that's the usual for me. I am not in the healthcare field so it takes me a little while to sort through the meaning of the figures but everything seems to be fine. I will update this thread once it's clearer I used a variety of brands to try and find the "one" but I mostly just use whatever types I have on hand. Lately it's Deva vegan multivitamins and Procare bariatric chewables . I have not taken them consistently for about 2 months now because of plastics (some vitamins can make bleeding heavier) so honestly I now take either one when I remember -

Drainless Tummy Tucks; anyone?
GreenTealael replied to pssk's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thank goodness that your visiting nurse caught it! The fluids drain through the lymph system and eventually out through the urine. Along with my drain less TT, lymphatic massages are scheduled starting 1 day post op. There is also the use of an abdominal binder then a compression garment. I had it performed in Miami, FL. The binder massages & compression garments seem to be industry standard there & in Latin America whether the TT is drain less or traditional. Glad you can enjoy the end product despite the complications -

Oh wow! When & where was your surgery? Any more details (surgeon, infection type, wound care, etc) can help others avoid these complications ♥️ -
