If you can return to your previous Bariatric team (or find a new one) they can order tests to check your anatomy. Good Luck ♥️

I don't know what to do first!
GreenTealael replied to mlmx1138's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I as to plan it all again I would start in the kitchen pantry. Clean and organize to make finding your favorite things easier. Next I works get dedicated measuring cups, small plates/bowls & water bottles, pill organizers, etc. Last I would clean my house to make everything easier to find if someone will help you during recovery. I would only get a small amount of post op foods/protein shakes before surgery because your tolerance may change. I can't remember needing more than that the early weeks post op Good Luck ♥️ -

Getting Ready for Surgery

Exciting! I appreciated having baby/feminine wipes to stay as clean as possible (could not shower immediately) and tons of nurse/doctor maybe touching you especially your arms/hands -

First off thank you ❤️ I don't believe my journey is particularly inspirational and I promise that's not false modesty. I think my journey is just highly visible. I put a lot of content on here so that people can get a mediocre perspective to stay accountable to myself. I think a lot of journeys are similar to mine but I tend to post more. Plus i'm sort of middling in all aspects of WLS: I'm not very active with exercise but not totally sedentary either I'm careful with food but not hyper vigilant or super lax My weight loss has been moderate in terms of the curve or spectrum (bmi has been a 28 for a while) with small gains and losses on repeat I've experienced some complications that have not been super serious or trivial I'm not sure what stage you are in the process but I bet you'll blow me out of the water and I'll be on the sideline (with a salad and a donut) cheering you on ❤️ -

Did your Surgeon send you home with a prescription for a PPI? I believe it is fairly common even after revisions to still take them for a few weeks during the healing phase Get Well Soon ❤️ -

Update: From 10/1 until today 10/12, I have only eatten half of a single loaf of the bread. I thought I would have had more by now, but I really didn't want to eat it as often. I think it is because it's no longer off limits to me. I think the behavioral idea of partial reinforcement or psychological idea of unpredictable rewards maybe behind my waning desire (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/fulfillment-any-age/201211/the-lure-the-unpredictable-lover) ; (https://www.jneurosci.org/content/21/8/2793) I just wanted to mention it because I used to really LOVE bread (honestly I preferred it over anything other food) and in the beginning of my WLS journey I swore off bread, rice & pasta believing there was no room for them in my life anymore. It was what I commonly saw when hearing about the diets of other WLS patients, permanently giving up foods. Granted I don't like rice and pasta so I'll likely never willingly choose to eat those and certain textures of bread no longer work for me because of conversion to RNY - BUT I am happy that there is some flexibility still possible in a Bariatric diet, especially when I find really solid substitutes. I also understand that some foods are triggers for binge eating and our people prone to that maybe should not try to be flexible without proper guidance from their teams. Well that was a ton of heavy introspection for a Monday 😆 -

*250 cals *20 g protein *2 net carb breakfast sandwich Same recipe as before (including the bread splitting technique) but with deli turkey this time *I didn't weight the turkey so it maybe slight more but not less than 2ozs so I rounded up -
Yes 2 weeks at a hotel can be very costly but is that the last follow up date for seeing your Surgeon again? Perhaps he can accelerated it to 1 week post op and then again at a Little further out. After I returned home from my initial Plastics in January I HAD to attend a family function ~2 weeks later so I wasn't even 1 month post op. It was a 3 hr ride each way and it was totally manageable (but I didn't have to drive myself thank goodness) We did have to stop 1.5 hrs so I could stretch and walk for a few minutes as recommend

Hi! Prior to Plastics I went to my primary to let her know what I was planning and loop her in! It didn't take much convincing since she was a fan of Plastics and had a BA herself (I absolutely ❤️ Doctors that you can bond with and treat you like a real person) My primary became my secondary touchstone for my Plastics journey, orfering labs or meds if necessary before and after surgery. My Plastic Surgeon and I were in constant communication and all of the early home follow ups were virtual & by phone call. If any true emergency arose, I would simply have needed to go to a local hospital. Easy. I could have also flown back to Miami for follow up at anytime if their was an unmanageable issue but I decided to wait (the initial wild uncertainty brought on by COVID) until May to follow up in person and go for round 2. Turns out that telehealth & virtual visits became standard for a lot of physicians this year (including my Bariatric Surgeon) so in retrospect I am comfortable with the way it was all handled. Hope that helped ❤️

Weight Loss and Probiotics

Welcome to Club Diamox ( joking I hate the stuff, even if it is necessary) You could be retaining more fluids since you are off the diuretic so perhaps monitor your sodium & fluid intake to see if it makes any difference. Also constipation can mimic gain (physical weight from foods ingested vs physical weight of waste not excreted) so whatever will relieve that issue would be helpful to see the scale move again. When it comes to probiotics the strain/species of bacteria maybe just as important as the delivery style. https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/probiotics-may-ease-constipation-201408217377 https://www.bustle.com/p/the-3-best-probiotics-for-constipation-17940859 From my personal experience I fare better if my probiotics come from foods like yogurt (Lactobacillus Acidophilus, et al.) and especially kimchi (Bifidobacterium bifidum, et al.) vs the widely available gummies that were just Bacillus Coagulans https://wildbrine.com/types-of-probiotics/ Also I believe it is very important to consult with your physician about which stains/species to take/avoid and safe amounts because some have been known to build resistance to certain antibiotics https://www.google.com/amp/s/theconversation.com/amp/kombucha-kimchi-and-yogurt-how-fermented-foods-could-be-harmful-to-your-health-126131 Good Luck ♥️
