Some no catheter or drain, some get both. I had a 1 night say but my niece had 3. Some people begin having to shovel down Protein drinks in the first day, some gradually ease into the shakes.
I just find it interesting that we have the exact same type of surgery but different protocols.
Don't ya'll?

I agree, it is confusing. It just makes me think we have to use discretion with all things. Listen to your doctor but I think you have to also know yourself and do more research. I believe doctors learn new things concerning this surgery all the time and they make changes based on new information.

Your welcome I really can only tell you what my doctor told me all doctors are a lot different when I tell you what my doctor said it's only by me asking and my experience. But it's always best to do what your doctor tells your to do. My doctor said I can have coffee even had it in the hospital. But I only use it for ice coffee and make my own with my Premier drink and creamer. But one lady said that her doctor said she can have soda but my doctor told me no soda due to carbonation in the soda my point is that everyone should ask there doctor and just do what there doctors want them to do. But take care and I know that your weight loss will be a successful.
Awe, thank you. You are so kind. 😊

Before I left hospital I received a book and it has everything you can and cannot have by the weeks and months. You just have to do what your doctor said to do. This book starts from Phase 1 being the liquids on. I look at calories and portion and if something is gluten free. Also I have Baby bel cheese and that can be salty Gouda original my on the go snack
Thank you, cheese is a good place to go for that salty craving. I wish I had a book that was so detailed like that. You are right, since I have started on this group forum I see that there are a lot of different answers coming from doctors.

i didnt think we were allowed popcorn?
I am not sure if I can have popcorn so I will ask my doctor on Friday when I see him. I know I can't have it now because I am in the full liquid phase. Maybe at week 4 or 5 once I get approval.

Congrats it's all ways hard at first getting that Protein in I'm still having hard time with it at almost 4 months out. I drink a lot of Premier drink in banana, strawberry and chocolate I also have the vanilla powder muscle milk that you can mix with the different Torans syrups to give the powder a different taste. Also the Protein Bar I go to Big Lot and get Elite Protein Bars in cookie dough, vanilla and coconut they cost about 70 cents. A lot cheaper then any other place I break down into a 3 piece and snack on them during the day and that is 25 grams of protein. I also make my own ice coffee with the Premier drink.
I find myself having a craving for something a little less sweet and more on the salt end. Do you have any suggestions for Snacks like that?

I was sleeved on the 17th of July. So far everything is going well. I am healing properly, still sore and having some back pain only on the right side. I am having a hard time getting all the Protein and Water in that is required but I am trying to get better at it everyday. I try not to get on the scale every day because I do not want to get discouraged , so I am saving my scale days for my doctors visits.
How is everyone else?

At the recovery room I was in and out but they let my parents see me and everything I remember saying is that it was hot lol... My incisions barely hurts, I do get chest pain from time to time so I take 20mg of Pepcid complete twice a day and for the gases I take Gas-X which has been very helpful...
This is my second day at home and I am under liquids, I have to make sure I drink 60-80 gram of Protein and take my vitamins... My appetite went away so I can see my family eating and I'm not craving to eat the same...
I am so glad everything went well and I believe that you will definitely have a speedy recovery. Thank you for the experienced information it helps to calm any possible fears trying to grow.

I was not but that's good that you are. It took a lot for me to get in the liquid that they wanted me to have and I struggled even after I returned home. I think a part of my issue was that everything tasted nasty and it was not until I could get home and get some homemade chicken broth and sugar free Popsicle that I was finally able to take in what I needed. Also, applesauce mixed with PB2 was my favorite.
