  1. Work has been challenging for me too. Yesterday I had a complete meltdown that included crying and some slamming office doors.
  2. That is a good idea. Next week I will be past the activity restrictions so I am hoping to get in the routine of going to the gym. We shall see [emoji3]. Good luck to you!
  3. I am a little more emotional lately too. I am sure the people around me hope this passes soon. Ha!
  4. It is worse at night at home. I am sure it's like that for most people.
  5. My surgery date was 6/12. What about you? I hope it gets easier too. [emoji846]
  6. Have some meals prepared for this week. Trying to get used to the tiny portions. [emoji13]

    First week of puréed foods

Thank you. I made everything a little on the bland side because I wasn't sure. I cut and scooped out the seeds of the squash, rubbed a little olive oil on it. Baked for 40 minutes at 400 degrees. After it cooled I scooped out the insides added it to the food processor with 2 cloves of garlic and 2 tablespoons of Greek cream cheese. Whipped it all up. The turkey meat dish I made from the dr's office recipes. Just brown some lean ground turkey, drain the fat and place in the food processor. Add 2 tablespoons of low sugar marinara sauce. Purée it ( if you are in that phase). I put 1/4 of a cup in small containers and added a tablespoon of low fat ricotta cheese and 1 teaspoon of mozzarella cheese. Then when I reheated I just mixed it all up. Not exactly lasagna but better than broth [emoji847]

    First week of puréed foods

A few different recipes. My favorite turned out to be baked butternut squash. I puréed it with a little garlic and some low fat Greek cream cheese. I also puréed some asparagus, then ground turkey that I mixed with low sugar marinara sauce and low fat ricotta. I put a bag of pinto beans in the crockpot to make my own refried beans. I enjoy cooking but I used to do it with a bottle of wine. [emoji39]
  9. If you don't mind, what are your stats? I think you are a couple of weeks ahead of me. Everyone keeps mentioning a 3 week stall. I am starting that tomorrow. I am 47 and need to lose around 56 pounds.

Not a lot of Flavor in my foods

I just had my first scrambled egg since pre surgery. I was so excited. It really didn't have any flavor. I wasn't even able to finish it. My taste buds must be way off. Can we have jalapeños as long as they are puréed?
  11. I would imagine that all of us that decided on surgery have a day that makes us doubt our choice. Today was mine. I am almost 3 weeks post op. For some reason today I hated everything. Hated soup, protein shakes, feeling tired, gas pains, bathroom issues and not being able to have a beer. I thought is it really worth it?? My best friend had the sleeve 3 years ago and I know she is grateful for it. But as of this moment I am having a hard time thinking about the future. I just want to feel better. I want to chew something! For some reason my surgeon doesn't have jello on his phase 2 approved list. I just had to vent. Thank you for listening. I need to lose 50 pounds and improve my health. I know that this was a good choice. I just don't feel it today.[emoji15]

I guess it was my turn

Thank you guys so much. I am glad it's not uncommon around the 3 week mark. I know better days are ahead they just seem a long way. Thanks!

    Relationship changes

How do you like the puréed phase? I start mine next week. I am really looking forward to leaving the liquid phase but the thought of puréed meat doesn't sound appealing. Mel
  14. How many of you still use a lot of sugar free products daily? I know it's the best option for weight loss but I worry about the chemicals and fake sugar. About 6 months ago I stopped eating frozen meals, reduced fat foods or processed foods. I felt great but I realize now my portions were way too big. I am 14 days in so I still have a long way before I can eat solid food. My goal is to be able to lose weight but not rely on "diet" food. I love to cook and don't mind putting the effort in for meal prep. But is that realistic? What plan have you found success?
  15. As soon as I reach the soft food phase I don't think I ever want soup again. [emoji3] I am not a big sweets person so I didn't want to just drink protein shakes during the liquid phase. Now I am souped out! Anyone else starting their third week?

    Never eating soup again

I think that will be a big challenge for me too. I am used to having a glass of water with meals. I have one more week until the puréed phase. My surgeon seems to take it really slow. It's not until my 6th week until I can have soft foods. I can't wait! [emoji12]

    The Shame of WLS

I only told my boss, 2 best friends and my cousin. I guess I was afraid of people judging me. One of my best friends had the sleeve done three years ago. I see her struggle and I know it hasn't been easy. I also didn't tell very many people because I am afraid of failing. I am 47 and I want to live a long and healthy life. I hope I can succeed!
  18. I would have a sugar free drink besides water handy. I have read and it was the same with me, water made me a little nauseous. My surgeon suggested crystal lite. Milk of magnesia was something I needed around the fifth day. The first week I just wanted to sleep so I agree with the person who said do your laundry and stuff prior. I had clean sheets and a comfy shirt to sleep in and lounge. Sugar free Popsicles and broth were really the only thing I could do the first week. Good luck!
  19. How soon can you add additional powders or supplements to your shakes? I feel like it would help my energy level. I am 11 days out from sleeve surgery. I tried to go back to work this week. I couldn't make it a full day. I need to be able to work a full day next week. Any suggestions? Thanks!

amazing greens or other superfood powders

Thank you! Monday it will be 2 weeks. Then the following week I can start the puréed stage. My doctor said I will start having a bit more energy then. For now I feel like I am sleeping constantly.

    Gastric sleeve 06/19/2017

I was nervous too. It was over before I knew it. Ask them when you check in prior to surgery. I had told them that I had a history of nausea after previous surgeries. Keep me posted. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BariatricPal mobile app

    Gastric sleeve 06/19/2017

Good luck! I had mine about a week ago. 6/12/17. The procedure went well. The biggest problem the 1st day for me was nausea. Your doctor should have prescribed you something for it. I would say the only advice I have is get lots of rest and have plenty of liquids on hand. I had to try a couple before I found one the first day that didn't make me sick. I am still sleeping a lot. I am on the full liquid phase so my energy is still low. My surgeon seems to have a longer liquid phase. I don't get to the pureed phase for 2 more weeks. I am following everything exactly. Better safe than sorry. Good luck! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BariatricPal mobile app
