I thought I was looking at hitting goal (135lbs) maybe in a year and ahalf, but i dont know what the normal pace is for light weights. I got sleeved mid August. ..have only lost 30 pounds as well. And mine isn't even a revision.. first time sleever. Feeling like a failure as well. Eating all the carbs I can fit into my tiny stomach. Stress eating has always been my coping mechanism. The weight loss stall is just making it worse. I have no support or friends or even acquaintances that have had the sleeve. Only support I get is from this forum.

I cannot imagine that it would actually help with loose skin. I think it can hold the loose skin closer so that it's not flapping around as much [emoji12]
They can help post-surgery to keep everything compressed especially when moving around. I was going to get one the Friday after surgery but my Monday, I didn't feel the need anymore. If it feels good use it, but I wouldn't expect miracles with the skin.

I'd anticipated Hair loss following having the VSG in August of 2015, and was delighted to experience a very minimal amount during the first 18 months, and then startled when shedding began well into the maintenance phase. I believe my hair loss is primarily due to changes in medication rather than an effect of having the VSG due to the timeline, but since many who've had WLS have endured this, I am hopeful of getting coping ideas here. I've since modified the dosage of the medication (more on that below) which has helped to subside the loss, but it will take a while before my hair returns to normal. I've tried various shampoos, conditioners, and masks that are supposed to help with regrowth and stopping loss, with little success, but would be open to suggestions for new ones to try. I just bought a Jon Renau "topper" (it's like a mini-wig that clips into the top of your head to help disguise hair loss) but haven't yet gotten the hang of wearing it. I feel like it's obviously fake, and that makes me self-conscious. I'm also worried about damage that could be caused by the clips. I'm looking into a topper that only uses one clip and a headband by a company called ThinHairThick, but it's pricier, and I haven't found much customer feedback about it yet.
For those curious about the medicine - In November of 2016 I was prescribed Metformin by my endocrinologist to attempt to balance out hormonal issues that were an impediment to conceiving. By that point my BMI had been in the "normal" range for more than six months, and I'd exceeded both my surgeon's goal and the one I'd set for myself. I was already a size four, and had been for a while, so the bulk of the weight loss was prior to this point. My doctor said I might lose some weight on it, but that was not the reason it was prescribed. I did, in fact, lose some weight initially, but it was a modest amount, and continued use of the medication didn't lead to any more weight loss. The hair loss was insidious; I hadn't realized it was happening until my bathroom sink kept getting clogged up, and my hair stylist made a comment that it was suddenly much thinner. In having read about the medication, many other younger women with PCOS have had hair loss while taking it, but men and post-menopausal women have not, so I'm thinking it impacts our bodies differently. It apparently used to be listed as a side effect, but isn't currently since the majority who take it do not have hair loss.
I'd love any tips or advice from other ladies who've dealt with hair loss.

To add: I've had blood work done routinely, and have no deficiencies that would explain the hair loss. I unfortunately cannot take Biotin, even though it's been a help to many other women with hair loss, because it causes massive acne breakouts. My dermatologist told me to avoid it.

Thanks everyone! The funny thing is I was so pleased with having lost the 16 pounds preop, that I thought I looked pretty good in the day of surgery photo! Lol! I hadn't looked back at that pic until today to post it, and I'm utterly floored!
And to think.. only 3 people have "noticed"! I suppose more may have noticed without saying anything... (I mean, how could they not?).
I do feel SOO much better! Not sure why I have that haggard look around the eyes, maybe too much time spent on Bariatric Pal! Lol.
This is a great "intermission".. since it's halfway through the first year, and I'm ready to start hitting the gym (I haven't to this point). We'll see what my next photo brings in March!

Have you tried GENEPRO Protein? It definitely has a taste but I can easily mask it with other flavors. I also love Fairlife milk and it will be the only brand I'll drink from here on. I too loved Premier while pre-op but can't stand it now. Tonight for "dessert' I'm making my own protein smoothie with Fage yogurt, Fairlife milk, sugar free Syrup, and a little bit of spices. Will see how it turns out!

I'm still struggling to meet my Protein goals post-surgery -- the Premier Protein shakes I used to enjoy now make me nauseated. Too sweet! I ordered some Unjury unflavored protein after reading several recommendations. Tried it mixed in some food and it was... okay. Didn't care for what it did to the texture of my food. Then I saw on the back of the container that they recommended mixing a scoop with skim milk. I thought "great!" - I love drinking skim milk, and if this is unflavored, it should solve my problems. Right? Right?
    WRONG.
It tastes like a yeasty cheese milk smoothie. Ugh.
    Back to the drawing board.

Prolactinoma, a big pituitary tumor that causes obesity by releasing a ton of prolactin into your bloodstream so that your body wants to turn all you eat into fat storage for the adult football team it thinks you are breastfeeding. You also have no feeling of satiety so even though I ate mostly healthy, I could not do Portion Control. And as I got fatter, I hated exercise more and more. So, lots of food and no exercise.

the tumor won't be going away but already the portion control from the sleeve is fantastic. This is my head start to get good habits and get fit and strong. If I end up gaining it back because of the tumor, I'll do something else then.

Poor food choices due to the fact that I didn't have time during the week and was just to overwhelmed to make time or even make two different meals at home. Taking care of my 3 daughters and husband came first even before me. I had to cook how they like, not how I would had love to cook (less sodium). In my culture you have to make sure to cook with salt and oils and sazon the Dominican/Ecuadorian way. I was lazy as well it was like I gave up. I also would catch my self eating cause I was bored and sad I needed my ice cream. I would do juice fast lose an X amount of weight and gain double. After having my first daughter back in 2005 I gain 80 lbs in pregnancy and 20 to 30 for the other two that I was never able to go back to my normal weight. The closest I have ever got was two years ago I lost to 167 but gradually gain it back and so much more. I can say I hit obesity stage the beginning of this year. My family are also in the overweight and obese category but I can't sit here and say is due to that because I know is so much more then just genetics. I hope to finally have my tool to completely lose the weight for good.

I was a size 4 when I got married, got pregnant 10 months later and was a size 6. During my pregnancy I ate everything I could stuff in my mouth. I was 184 after giving birth, I'm 5'2". I yoyo dieted for years after that and I'd lose at most 40lb's only to gain it all back and more. Finally I found myself at 316 and said enough is enough.

I think a lot of mine is genetics but also health issues. I was a size 14/16 when I got married. I was absolutely perfect with that! Ive always been bigger than my friends but a lot of that had to do with my build too... I'm 5'8. Literally right after we got married I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis... I'd never had any issues with intimacy before because I'd never been intimate before marriage. However, intercourse hurt immensely, more than the normal part of your body getting used to it. They found a grapefruit sized cyst on my left ovary and scheduled surgery, that's when they found the Endo growing up my spine, all on my insides... after surgery they put me on Lupron depo. I hate this medicine. It put me in a medically induced menopause (I was 22), made me violent, angry, depressed and I gained 60 pounds in 3 months!!!! My self confidence plummeted! My husband has never once criticized me or made me feel less than Beautiful in any way but he is definitely behind me getting this surgery. [emoji4] I'm looking forward to reclaiming some lost years.

Well, getting back to some routine here after Harvey. CC was spared the devastation, we had a bunch of mess (no power, tons of trees down, etc), but our neighbors, Rockport and Aransas Pass weren't spared. They're only 30 miles northeast of us so it's heartbreaking. Many members of my church are helping out over there as well. If I had someplace to put my kids, I'd be there too. School is out until Tuesday and so I haven't been able to go back to work either. It's just been a mess all around, but God is good. I'm thankful for the unity and love that is being shown and sown these days.
So, back to focusing on my WFPB way and getting my kitchen finished!!!!!! Lol. Yep, still not done. Smh🤦🏾‍♀️
