  1. My surgeon ordered a swallow study 6 weeks after my surgery. The reflux was so bad they called me within an hour of the test scheduling an endoscopy. The next day I went in for endoscopy and the stricture was so severe they couldn’t even stretch it at that time. Went in two days later to the hospital where they had X-ray to assist them and were able to stretch it a bit. They weren’t able to stretch it enough but it’s already SO MUCH BETTER. I was so used to throwing up Everything. For the first time in 6 weeks I feel like I might be okay... I go back in 2 weeks for repeat dilation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I don’t even try to eat meat cuz I know I will throw up. I’m throwing up liquids too. They sent home health to my house to hook me up to iv fluids for the next four days. While I don’t think that will solve whatever problem this is, I am so thankful to be on fluids because in just so thirsty and exhausted all the time from not eating or drinking. Surgeon said we will start here fix the immediate problem first, because even if it was a stricture I’m not far enough out to fix it yet anyway. Baby steps I suppose. 3. Thank you for the reply. I do take Zofran multiple times a day. Can’t really tell if it helps or not cuz I’m just sick most of the day. I am Very hopeful I will get answers today. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I’m almost 3 weeks post op gastric bypass and struggle to keep anything down. The protein shakes make me sick, tried several different kinds and I just can’t tolerate it. I take my vitamins and usually throw them back up. Anytime I eat or drink anything it goes down and then feels like it’s coming back up, like it’s in the back of my throat. 9 times out of 10 I vomit. If I don’t get sick I’m so nauseous I can’t move for fear I will get sick. I was a lower BMI when I went into surgery and have already lost 27 lbs in 20 days. I have an appt with my surgeon today. Hopefully answers. Anyone else feel like this 3 weeks out? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    The BIG Day!!!

I called my surgeon, says sounds like my lungs are developing an infection. Will pay close attention to it this weekend and will go in for a chest xray on Tuesday. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    The BIG Day!!!

Ereese, did you get to go home? Let us know how you're doing. Candy Sent from my LG-V410 using BariatricPal mobile app Yes, they let me go home the day after my surgery. I do think I’m developing a pneumonia or an infection though. Once I realized I was running the low grade fever I started doing my breathing exercises religiously but I’m not sure if it isn’t too late. [emoji30]. Everything hurts going down, even the smallest sip of water. I’m dreading getting re admitted to the hospital. We will see. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Day after surgery

I had my surgery 2 days ago. Water does hurt going down for me too. Oddly flavored vitamin water isn’t so bad. Hoping it gets better day by day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Finally!

I never thought this day would actually come. I started my journey 1 year and 4 months ago was initially denied 3 times and a peer to peer was denied also. The staff at my office flat old told me I could appeal but wouldn’t help I wasn’t goi g to be able to have the surgery unless I was private pay. I did a year of consecutive monthly dr visits, did all the pre op scans and tests and met all requirements but the answer was still no. I hired lindstrom obesity advocates and they filed my first appeal in September. Today I got my approval letter in the mail. I couldn’t wait to call my surgeons office and let them know that I was able to get the approval..... especially when they told me filing an appeal was pointless. Now my fingers are crossed that I can get this surgery done before the end of the year! What a happy day.[emoji16]
