    LET'S TACKLE FALL CHALLENGE

Thanks for the encouragement! I really would like to be under 200 before my sleeve surgery on October 24. Not sure why this is so important to me. But it's frustrating as heck. I was losing at a fairly good clip, stalled for about 3 months, dropped another 10 pounds, and have been bouncing between 208 and 204 for 3 weeks.

100 miles in 100 days fitness challenge

Willing to give this a shot. Gotta do something to get my exercise in so this may just be what I need to get back in the routine of exercising. New work schedule and back to school schedules have done a number on my previously settled in routine!

    GAINED 4LBs....8 weeks post.

So much great advice here! I don't have any advice but offering support as you work through this challenging time. As my surgery date looms closer, I find myself wondering about eating once I'm able to tolerate regular food. Lately, all I can think about is the liquids I'll be having one week prior and two weeks after surgery. Wondering how in the world I won't lose my mind! But I am determined to get the most use out of tool of sleeve surgery. Wishing you all the best!
  8. As long as insurance approves everything and there's no issues with upper GI scheduled on 09/18/2017, my surgery will be 10/24/2017. SO EXCITED!!!!! Just had to share my good news, especially with folks who understand the process.

    Cigna Question--any advice?

Hi BT816, Thanks for your reply and sharing your experience. I completed my psych eval this morning and found out that my initial visit with PCP in June starts my 90 day waiting period. My first dietician appointment is tomorrow and my cardiac clearance is scheduled for Sept 6. Then my upper GI can be scheduled. My surgery could be as early as October depending on the surgeon's schedule and final insurance approval. I'm so excited!!! Thanks again for your reply.
  13. So my insurance will be changing September 1 from Medicaid to Cigna. My first appointment with my medical provider related to weight management was June 8, second July 12, and third was yesterday. The first appointment with the bariatric surgeon was 8/9. Will Cigna count my first appointment for weight loss or the date with the surgeon to start the 90 day waiting period? I'm not sure where to start with this question so I wanted to ask those who have gone through this process about your experiences. Could my sleeve surgery happen as early as October or as late as December? I've already completed labs, EKG, Chest X-ray, and two support group meetings. I have scheduled appointments with dietician, psych, and cardiac eval. Any advice, answers, and guidance based on your experiences with Cigna is appreciated! Thanks!

    New to Forum

Hello! Welcome to the forums! This is a good place for support and advice. I am navigating the journey to sleeve surgery. Hoping to have surgery by the end of the year. With a job/insurance change, I'm not sure what hoops I have to jump through yet. My husband was sleeved in April this year and has had no complications. He's down 70 pounds since then. Looking forward to following your journey to health! Wishing you all the best!!
  18. Calling all evening shift workers.....I need some advice. Transitioning from dayshift to evening shift is wreaking havoc on my healthy eating. The sneaky salty, sugary junk looks really tempting as my energy lags around 9pm.  Of course, maintaining a consistent eating schedule is not easily planned in long term care. Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Insurance Approved Me!

Congrats!! That's exciting news! Hubs had the surgery in April and is off blood pressure medicine and his diabetes meds. Although everyone's journey is different, hoping you see the same results. Good luck!

    Need friends and support

Hi Northstar, Hope you are having a great day so far. I would be more than happy to be one of your online buddies. There are some of the best folks anywhere on this site. I don't have an actual surgery date yet but it should be in November sometime. I look forward to reading more of your story. Good luck as you continue on your journey!

    Pre-op goals!!

You're doing a great job so far!! Congratulations! I won't get sleeved until at least December so I've got a way to go yet. I've lost 40 pounds since January. Sitting in church this morning, I realized I could cross my legs. Not for very long, but it's a start. Been waaayyy too long since I've even attempted that! My post op goals, other than to have an uneventful recovery, are similar to others posted here. Polishing my toes is something I am really looking forward to! Good luck!
  22. After being out of work for almost three weeks, I am excited to get back to work in a few days. With that pressure off, I'm looking forward to getting a new routine going. I'll be working second shift so I know there'll be adjustments. Anyone else working second or third shift who can give suggestions or advice?

Three weeks off? NICE! What do you do? Are you a nurse? If so...then the nurses here could help you out! :)

      Hi,

I've been a nurse for 17 years then worked in social services in long term care for the past year. Losing that job led to a job search that has landed me back in long term care nursing. The past few weeks had me concerned about finances and I'm looking forward to getting back in the game. I love my family and our time together is something I usually enjoy. But I'm also that mom that functions better working, if that makes sense? ;)

I look forward to hearing from fellow nurses!

Hope your week is starting off well!

  23. Sounds like you're doing pretty darn great! Keep it up!
