Seriously, someone using AMA in conjunction with Hospital and Discharge would mean against medical advice in anyone's eyes who had anything to do with medical field. Totally understandable and justified. He apparently is just using a different acronym. You are brilliant AND look great! No worries!!

Nicole here! I'm a 911, police, fire, EMS dispatcher for my county sheriff's office. I'm 42, wonderful DH, no kids, but plenty of nieces and nephews!
My surgery date was June 20th.
31 pounds lost since surgery day,
44 pounds lost since start of pre-op diet.
My surgeon's office approved a 6 week leave, that I'm taking every advantage of for a full, rested recovery, before I step back into that stressful job. Not to mention it's 12 hour shifts, AND it's shift work (4 nights, 3 off, 3days, 1off, 3 nights, 3off, 4 days, 7off) I'd be lying if I wasn't nervous about going back to work and juggling that schedule and stress.

I kind of just need to vent and air out my laundry. So feel free to read on and offer advice as you see fit. I know it is long so you don’t have to read it either. Maybe you can relate, maybe you can’t but I wanted to share this with people who might understand. I do have some before and after pictures at the bottoms also if you just want to look at those!
I am having a hard time lately. I had my sleeve surgery on 5/29/16. I started this process at the end of October 2015 weighing in at 540 pounds. I used to have to wear portable oxygen 24/7 because I was so overweight my fat was pressing against my lungs and restricting my breathing. I have managed to get down to 248 pounds since my surgery 14 months ago. Now I can walk 6 miles up and down hills without even getting out of breath.
I just had the first of many plastic surgeries on June 5th. It was just an interim surgery since I am not at goal yet, but losing over 290 pounds will affect your skin drastically and I needed my stomach hang removed for quality of life reasons.
I want many more plastic surgeries. My thighs are my biggest concern. My plastic surgeon told me he wants me to get to goal and wait at least 9 months at a stable weight before we do any more though.
My doctor’s just want me to get to a size 12 or 10 as my goal. I started at a size 38/40 and now I am a size 14/16. That is insane to me honestly. I don’t think I have been a size 14/16 since I was 10 years old.
Now, to be clear, I am a huge self-sabotager. I have been challenged by this since I was a kid. I have been in therapy since I was 6 with various issues and still see a great therapist every week.
For over the past month I have not been cooking. Mostly because I had no energy and I was in pain still from my surgery. I don’t heal that great after surgery and it lasts with me a long time. Instead of meal planning and cooking I have been eating take out, sweets, and junk and I know it’s not helpful. Thankfully I have only gained about .8 of a pound with my self-sabotaging ways.
Honestly guys, I think it’s because I’m scared. I’m scared of what it will be like without my fat around me. I have been overweight since I was 3 years old. It’s all I’ve known. I used to have day dreams when I was in school of just getting on the bus and unzipping myself from this fat suit I was stuck in and everyone being amazing at this beautiful girl I actually was.
Here I am at 30, basically doing that and it terrifies me.
I’m not saying I’m unhappy with the weightloss, not at all. I am ECSTATIC! I can actually live my life and join in on the world instead of being trapped in my body and only living as a shell of a human being.
I can go to amusement parks and fit on the rides. Which is what I did this weekend as a kind of declaration of freedom and just a time to enjoy myself with friends.
I can be active, I don’t need to worry about if I will fit in a small space (but still my mind tells me I won’t and I’m scared every time that I won’t fit. I was terrified to get on every roller coaster at the park. Not because of the ride, but I was afraid I wouldn’t fit and the embarrassment would kill me).
This has been a draining experience, both physically and mentally. But for me, the mental part has been the hardest.
I was able to recognize that I was self-sabotaging out of fear though. I was able to get up, shake myself off, and start again. Because that is what you have to do. I have meal planned, weighed and measured my food, tracked everything, and started more activity.
I will not let my manipulative brain win this time.
I have come too far to stop now. I will not give up and I will NEVER go back to the girl who couldn’t live the life she wanted.

    Hello fam,
just a Lil update on my life . 7 months post op. I was sleeved Dec 5. I am officially divorced now. I am happy n really enjoying me in this new bod. The surgery wasn't the reason for my divorce ,my husband was a caterer cheater , lol. But the surgery made him feel that now I was a threat in the marriage because I was getting attention . But it was his insecurities n lied that kept him from appreciating the woman he had. So , hell with him, I'm single as a dollar bill now.
I am 7 mos post op and down 90 lbs ( 89.7 to be exact). I weigh 153 lbs and I am 5'7. I now wear a size 4 in women's clothing and even fit into size 2 Vera wang dress today, NSV for me. My surgeon set my goal at 150 lbI feel so good about the choice I made to have this surgery and I would do it 10 more time if I had to. Enjoy the pics and good lock to everyone .

NikkiPen got a reaction from ZumbaMami in Post op 15 days and no weight loss
I've done so much research on the Bariatric surgeries, especially over the past year... yet I never came across the "3 week stall", can't imagine how I missed it though. Boy I wish I had known about this last week, it would have saved me stressing. I couldn't imagine that I was eating too much to constitute a zero loss for 4 days- just 2 weeks post-op, though it sounds like stalls can last up to 2 weeks for some. I ended up reverting to my Phase 3 initial diet with super soft, mushy foods and Protein Drinks and the weight loss picked right back up immediately. Now I'm progressing back to more soft foods like fish, less mushy (but chewing 20-30 times), and I'm steady dropping .25-.5 pounds/day which is just fine with me. I'm 3 weeks post-op tomorrow.
I'm supposed to be moving to Phase 4 on Friday, but I think I'll continue on my current, more gradual path, which my surgeon and NUT fully support.

I can't advise about the vomiting, nor the after effects. My only time so far was after my first pieces of ice after surgery.
What has your surgeon said about your incision? Some people are slow healers, but if you're draining, that might mean other things that your surgeon would likely be interested in knowing. Not so much your primary care, unless they have extensive experience in abdominal surgeries maybe.
So, your needle like pain is not at the weepy incision, but your stomach?

I just need a moment to express my supreme elation!
Last week, I went to a conference with my parents. Turns out I needed a nice dress for a dinner one night. My dad took me to the local mall and kindly served and an audience for a mini fashion show. Before surgery, I wore a size 24; all the dresses I tried on were a size 20. We loved the last dress, but it was too big. The only only other size they had was a 16. My dad convinced me to try it on... IT FIT!!! I was so excited!!!
Yesterday, my mom and I went to some stores for a little experiment. For the first time since college, I fit in pants off the rack! I also fit into an XL shirt. Again, I was ecstatic!
Finally, I had my 6 week follow-up with my surgeon today. I'm 5'7 3/4. When I started my pre-op liquid diet, I weighed 277 pounds. On surgery day, I weighed 264 pounds. Today, at 46 days post-surgery, I weighed 234 pounds. That's 43 pounds overall and 30 pounds since surgery!!!
I feel wonderful! My skin is glowing. I have loads of energy. I'm happier and more optimistic. I feel like I'm becoming more myself than ever before. I'm so glad I did this for myself. My health is improving so dramatically. It's wonderful!
Anyway, thanks for letting me share! Blessings to you all!

My surgery was June 19. Good recovery--I was back at work in 2.5 weeks. I'm eating gentle real foods now and supplementing with at least 1 Protein shake/day. Around 400-500 calories/day. I have been on a weight plateau for about a week now after losing 25 since surgery.
One thing I have noticed is that while I have more energy throughout the day, once I get tired I hit the wall. It's good to be aware of this and take care of myself by getting enough rest.
And of course, when I hit the stall my inner tape recorder started up with "You are eating too much!" Hah! 500 calories of 95% protein? I think not! (That is my reply to the tape recorder).
I am so glad I did this. I'm 62 and I'll be retiring in a few years. It's so great to know that I will not retire as an invalid but as a healthy active person looking forward to the next thing.
