WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT FOR YOU?!? i was on a frickin iPad and typing at all was a pain in the ass. is it really that hard to find the link in the opening paragraph? jesus christ... i linked to the Guyenet and Vox articles (which have the link to the study in them. front and center. not magically hidden, mind you) because i know 99% of people will not read the study, but might appreciate a summary of it in layman's terms. is that okay with you? anything else i can do for you while i'm here???

then how about NUSI’s second study that just dropped? is that good enough for your terrifically high scientific methodological standards? because it also proved that macronutrient levels are not important. and damn near exonerated sugar! mind you - Nusi was founded by low-carb gods Gary Taubes and Peter Attia, who created the non-profit in order to design THE BEST research trials to get to the truth. i.e. remove the conflicts of interest. so far both their first two studies have contradicted the founders’ insulin hypothesis dogma. so embarrassed was Attia that he quit barely two years into the foundation. http://www.stephanguyenet.com/the-second-nusi-funded-diet-trial-has-arrived/ and https://examine.com/nutrition/low-fat-vs-low-carb-for-weight-loss/

so now that it’s been a couple of days and you’ve had time to read the study, what are your thoughts? here’s another link to the study, in case you lost the first one... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27385608 and here’s a good summary, if you’re pressed for time: https://www.vox.com/2016/7/6/12105660/do-low-carb-diets-work

see this is a perfect illustration of the problem with the viral, social-media inspired, fad-like popularity of the ketogenic diet..... it is vastly misunderstood and not followed properly. in order to achieve nutritional ketosis (based on blood ketones, not urine sticks. get yourself a blood ketone meter and prick yourself at least twice a day, or don't bother with the diet), the average person needs to consume upwards of 80% fat. you must "go crazy with the fat" to use your terminology. like, snack on spoonfuls of coconut oil crazy. which is extremely unpalatable and unsustainable. hence ONE of the problems with the regimen. too often, people use it as an excuse to also eat high amounts of protein, thinking it has no effect on blood sugar. incorrect. thru a process called gluconeogenesis, protein can be broken down and used as a source of glucose. thus kicking you out of ketosis. add in the stress on the HPT feedback loop and adrenal fatigue. keep that up for a while and your thyroid WILL give. but that's if you get thru the persistent dry eyes and sleep issues that usually set in around week 3 of any properly executed ketogenic diet. and then, you'll just have to follow this extreme, 80% fat diet for the rest of your life. because the moment you get off of it, your set point will ricochet the scale back to where you were before, probably with "some interest". the real kicker? the human body does not need to be in full blown, >2.5mmol/L nutritional ketosis in order to lose weight. so you're doing all this for no GD reason. but don't let me stop you with research and experience. because it's, like, reeeeeallly popular on reddit and stuff... and omg my sister lost SO much weight on it!!! LOVE!

well that would certainly make sense, as the vast majority of dieticians and nutritionists are criminally out-of-date with the latest research. i believe they were still recommending 1980's-era low-fat and low-cholesterol dogma as recently as 2010. hate to ruin any romantic impressions you have of the low-carb diet, but the "insulin hypothesis" is pretty much dead. all the best randomized control trials have proven that, including a nail-in-the-coffin take down about a year ago... http://www.forefronthealth.com/low-carb-diet-weight-loss/

my bad, just wanted you to be happy. go kill your thyroid and ruin your new set point with a wholly unsustainable fad-diet, simply to satisfy your ego. BE MY GUEST...

please, for the love of god, do not start the g*dd*amn keto diet... there is the possibility that genetically this is your new set point. you haven't "failed" and there is nothing wrong with you. and your challenge now is to accept that fact, celebrate the progress you have made, and commit to eating and living healthy in the future.
  11. i paid out of pocket too for RNY. my only advice would be not to do this on the cheap. if done right, the surgery will change your life and keep you healthy and happy for the rest of your days. if done wrong you could suffer chronic complications like strictures, leaks, etc. you can only do this once. find the best surgeon you can. even if it means waiting longer to get the surgery or having to borrow the money. it is worth it 100x over. i joke that i paid around $20,000 for the surgery, and that was WILDLY mis-priced. because i would have paid $200k if i had to.
  12. i guarantee you he will not give even the slightest of sh*ts.

    Dating

dating and finding others is hard in general, and even harder as you get older. has nothing to do with your weight.

    Dr. Matthew Weiner

this is where i bow out... have fun!

    Dr. Matthew Weiner

among other things, Vuong says to avoid chicken. why? because "eating chicken is part of what made you fat in the first place". i rest my case. avoid him. he's a bottom 10% "doctor" who probably got his "degree" from one of those med schools in the Caribbean.

    Just don't care

not NEARLY as much. i just cruised the entire first page of The Gals Room. could only find 1 post by a guy in like 50 threads. whereas there's multiple posts by females in ALMOST EVERY THREAD in the The Guys Room. that said, it's not right when men do it either, even tho it is much rarer. it IS something to get worked up about, as guys can not have one decent conversation without women adding their 2 cents every single time. Alex might as well just get rid of the conference, honestly. it will never work here because women will not even give the effort of pretending to respect the rules. what i don't understand is why they would want to talk to people who don't want to hear them. disturbing.

    Dr. Matthew Weiner

i agree with and follow Dr Weiner’s approach 100%. that shady-ass “Dr” Duc Vuong is a fraud and a quack. run, don’t walk, away from his videos.

    Just don't care

then explain to me why it never happens the other way around. huh? because you women ALWAYS use this same excuse... “oh i didn’t see the forum because it came up in Topics”... then explain to me why us men never have this problem. why is that? are we genetically better at the internets than women? or maybe we take the extra split second to check what forum we’re posting in instead of diving right into RUNNING OUR YAMMERING CRAMHOLES to an audience who does not want to hear from us. very interesting, this dichotomy... don’t you think?

    Feeling Lost

all your problems (hunger, feeling like crap) will go away after you get the surgery. it becomes easy then. the hard part is what you’re going thru right now. so just get thru it the best you can. don’t give up.

    Just don't care

what...... the........ F—K. i bet part of the reason the OP is depressed is because he’s longing for connection with other men, in places like The Guys Room, and women come in anyway, uninvited and unwelcome, and vomit stuff like this all over him. jesus...

    Aggression

i've been extremely irritable/restless for about a month now. i’m at month 7 post-op. very unusual for me. i’ve never been an irritable guy. i truly hope it goes away.
