No, nothing. If I went through my insurance I might have had to, but since I was self pay there were no weight loss requirements. I am actually going on vacation a week before my procedure and she told me to enjoy!

I wonder that too. I am currently at 36.5 BMI. Thank you so much!

I was outpatient! Sleeved Monday, 5/22. At first, I was concerned, but I was anxious to get out of there. I am not sure why honestly. Maybe I was just bored? Ultimately, they will not let you go unless you're absolutely ready to do so. They said that if there were any concerns, they would keep me until it was time.
I peed almost immediately after surgery, had no problems taking in fluids, and was walking around fairly easily right away. In fact, I had a good amount of energy. A few days later, the pain is lingering (though tolerable) and I'm sleeping more and not AS motivated to be active. I'm taking long walks as best I can.
If you're concerned, hold in your pee! They said I couldn't leave until I peed!

I asked my surgeon (currently presurgery revision waiting for approval) he prefers outpatient. He said you heal better at home and there's less risk of infection.

You'll have a simple fluoroscopy procedure and swallow a liquid soon after surgery which will rule out serious leaks. Mine was the next day. Keep in mind that your stomach is very swollen at this point so you aren't necessarily in the clear. (Leaks are rather unlikely though, so don't dwell too much)
I'm terms of monitoring, you are your best health advocate and should take an active role in monitoring yourself and keeping up with goals. My surgeon's assistant/team called me every day for the next 3 or 4 days to check up on me. And I have/had appointments at 2 and 6 weeks out. If I had any concerns I could always call them or go to urgent care or the ER.
    Good luck!

Good. Yeah, it's nice to be home. Make sure you get your fluids in. I'm still not sleeping right which is why I'm on here at 4 am but first nightI got a full 5 hrs before the shoulder pain woke me up to go sit up on the couch so I'm not complaining to much. Can't wait for this drain to come out, when I went to the bathroom this morning without my abdominal binder it felt likeI tore a stitch from my drain. The dressing got all wet but I must've pulled on the stitch. The hardest part I had initially was getting in enough fluids and you really have to push yourself. If you can't then make sure you keep your surgeon updated so you don't get dehydrated. Good luck!

I went home the next day. Hey had to do a barium swallow the next morning to make sure there were no issues and that I could tolerate swallowing. I'd ask your doctor about staying over. They may do the swallow test the same day though. Every dr is different.

My surgery was yesterday and to be honest I'm ready to go home. I still have pain and the nausea but I can't believe how good I feel.

I am excited and committed to my new life and better health.

just had my surgery 5/31. I would not have felt up to going home that day. I actually stayed 2 nights in the hospital but everyone is different. Do you have to go the next day for a leak test or will they do it before you go home?
