    How much can you eat?

Good to see this thread. I was sleeved on June 13 th. I am full on one egg and a piece of bacon, 2 oz of any meat. By full I mean I get uncomfortable. Trying to slow down and be mindful. Eating out with friends I've learned is hard, talking and carrying on while eating and not being mindful. Tired of being uncomfortable and it's making me slightly crazy because it's self induced.

    Dehydration?

You do sound prett dehydrated. You may need an iv for fluids. Don't wait to long. My goal during first days was 60 oz minimum. Fluid before protein. I literally drank a tablespoon at time of fluid every 15 minutes. Call your doc and get some fluids, you sound to far behind to recoup quickly.
  3. You might want to chat with your doc. That's really not normal.
  4. Sometimes it is just best to ignore folks. Below are the directions to ignore people on this site. You access it by tapping your user name in the top right of the page.

    Your feelings on hummus

@gwbicsteryou and I are very similar. Surgery days close together and similar weight. I'm where you are. Slight struggle with firm protein. Ive been adding unflavored protein powder to my hummus. Not a lot. Protein boost. But we can't live on hummus. I keep all sorts of shelf stable protein at my desk. Never get caught without something. You will do great learning what's safe at school and does not cause issues.

    Major Life Changes

Blair! I just want to reach out to you give you a big ole bear hug. I'm still a big ole bear. I've missed your post on this site and have wondered where you have been. You always have great tips. You have a lot rolling around in your head and life. Take one day at a time and when that does not work take one hour at a time. I remember having to do this when my mom was dying. I'd have to think and remind myself, "this is all I can do and think about at this split second" and that was ok and I got through it. some days second by second. Super hard and super sucks. New chapters are a good thing ( Martha Stewart's voice)
  7. My doc and bariatric therapist said to expect to loss about 70% of the weight from 6-9 months post op "surgery effect" The remaining 30% will come off with time, diet and exercise. We shall see!
  8. @Mershyou are kinda being an aggressive prick. You post a topic, you open up the conversation, then don't like the path the conversation follows. It sounds like you are doing awesome and are very successful. You have a solid plan to live your life and meet your goals. You have a dietician and a trainer and "get all the advice you need" . If you have all the support and all the information and don't enjoy the opinions of others to support you, then might I suggest you stop visiting this site. You seem to have support all around you. And yes this is my opinion and judgment based on your sarcastic bullying remarks to a perfect stranger on a social media site.
  9. I've enjoyed the small 1 serving cans of white meat chicken. I mix it with a packet of mayo, pepper and Parmesan cheese packet, all which I get from the cafeteria. Make a quick chicken salad. Quick easy and portable. Also almond butter packets are easy. Small 2 tablespoon packets take cubes of hard cheeses. They don't need a fridge almonds I can have protein bars at this stage. Conference food, usually, salads with chicken or sandwiches. I have problems with chicken, it's way to dry( canned it fine) So deconstruct the sandwiches. The protein will be plenty. Soft fruits will be fine. Some conferences I've gone to would accommodate a soup request. You should have no problem. Be mindful of all the crap floating around. Cookies, pastry and those bagels! Keep a easy protein on hand. Good luck.

    Breath...

I agree with the ketosis. It goes away. But it is a possibility of thrush. White costed tongue of fungus. Probably not. Come on now dental hygienist, scrub that tongue with some listern or salt water. Check the back of your throat for pockets of yuck.

    Newbie here

8 weeks post op. No regrets. Yes moments of "what the f did I do?" But that is coming from inpatients with learning how to eat. Things i want to go down easily don't, like eggs. Going out to breakfast and really wanting to biscuit and sausage gravy, but getting a egg that does not feel good and 2 bacon that I can't finish. But, I'm ok and I'm learning and the eating gets better every single day. The no drinking afterwards kinda sucks, ever though I did it pre-op, no I have to do it. Still odd to eat out and put your drink to the side when the dinner comes. I only wait 10-15 minutes to stop drink before a meal.
  12. Week 3 I could take a normal drink. No big gulp just normal. I'm 8 weeks now and can take several swigs at a time. No where near where I was post op. I miss being about to drink an entire litter in a few minutes. For me, Ice cold liquid goes down better than warm.

    How can spouse help?

Ha omg this happened to me. Ask your husband not your cook anything smelly for the first few weeks. My partner cooked, on my post op day three, shrimp boil and filled the house if spices for a shrimp boil, old bay. I thought I was fount to puke my guts out. I never throw up but It actually hurt me you smell it. I told him wtf.... way to soon. Ok day 4 post op. He decided a frozen dinner with Brussel sprouts was a good idea. Filled the house with sulfur smelling sprouts. Again no puke but pain from the nausea. I almost asked for a divorce!

    Fluids post-op

I literally drank from a table spoon for 2 days.
  15. Constipation is my vote. My pain started about the 9 day mark. Do a search for remedies on here. Lots of options. Only thing that worked for me was a 1/2 cup warm water. 2 tsp sea salt dissolved lemon juice. Drink it over 10 15 minutes. Wait about 1 hour. You will go.

    Fluids post-op

Focus on the hydration newly post op. That's the biggest issue. 60 oz per day. Did your team not provide post op drinking plan?
  17. I was the same way until I paid attention to my carbs. I needed more for the first few weeks. 30-50. But then I was able to back them back down.
  18. This has no science bases. But it have heard for people eating low fat that some healthy fat can break a stall. Like take a tablespoon of evoo or coconut oil. Supposedly, the body can maintain fat stores if it detects stress or starvation. A dose of good fat tells the body " no there is plenty, we are not starving". Again no science here. But hell try it and see.

    Social Drinking?

6 weeks post op. My glass a wine very Friday night goes down just fine. Cheap buzz off 1/2 glass of wine. Seriously, have a driver if your out in public. Your blood alcohol level will increase quickly.

    Can I eat this?

You can have spicy items. Maybe sugar candy not the best option. Re fried beans with chipotle. Yummy.
  21. Why are people so interested in what I'm eating! The " I didn't know you could have that" and the " look at you with your tiny portion" and the " that's all your eating", Is driving my slight crazy. I don't want to hide to eat. But wow every time! I get people have no clue and are curious. I think I am going to make a sign that says "yes this is all I'm eating, yes I can have anything I want, yes I get full on 2 tablespoons, shut up and let me enjoy them."

    So what does everyone eat?

It's amazing all the different recmmendation from Nuts. I got soft fruit and veg at 3 weeks. No seeds (strawberries, raspberries). No bread, grains, nuts. No salads. After I hit my protein goal I have a few cherries and or half peach. Low carbs. Still keeps me under 30 carbs a day.
