How Much Have You Lost So Far?

My loss the last 6 months or so has not been so great. I was hoping to be down 100 pounds by my Bandiversary...but I don't think I am going to make it now. I just have to keep going and looking at the big picture. I WILL get there... just not as quickly as I had hoped.
  4. I am down 2 pounds for the week.

Belly button hernia....could it affect band?

I had a hernia repaired the same time as my band.... it came back even bigger within a couple of months. I asked my surgeon if it could be affecting my band and he told me probably not. I had a CT scan, and he took a look at it. He told me it is not affecting the band in any way (as they usually don't...according to him) If in doubt... you might want to get Dr K's opinion the next time you come to town (or give him a call and ask his general opinion on these hernias.)

ok going to ask pizza and pasta

I have eaten pizza a couple times since banding. If you are going to eat it...go with the thin crust . I can also eat pasta, though I limit myself due to the carbs in it. I just have to have extra sauce on it.

    hello

Hi Wini- I had my surgery around the same time as you. It is nice to talk to people who were banded at the same time... and have about the same loss. julie

    SOLID FOODS??? and swelling

I know mushies can be a challenge... and finding ideas on new things can be tough. I came across a great blog from someone who had bypass surgery... she has wonderful recipes. she has some good suggestions for the mushie stage. Her blog is: theworldaccordingto eggface.blogspot.com I would highly recommend checking out this blog. I am always getting good recipes and ideas from it.
  9. Sorry I haven't been posting the last few weeks, between my MIL's cancer diagnosis and all the running around we have had to do, including chemo. Also I went to MI for 15 days...which always plays havoc with my weight... flying gets me so tight I am generally miserable the whole time I am there and eat things that go down easy... like peanut butter cups (evil, evil things  ) and McDonalds shakes. If no one minds I am going to play catch up with my weights for the challenge. Lets see.... I managed to gain 5 pounds before the first weigh in, then for he first week I was in MI and unable to weigh in. When I got back I had gained another 8 pounds. I am down 7 pounds now so: week 1 - no results week 2 +8 week 3 -7 Hoping this is not too confusing. julie
  10. Marie, I am so sorry about your news. I agree with what some of the other girls have told you, hold onto your good memories and it will get easier (slowly, but it will) My thoughts and prayers to you and your family in this sad time <hugs> julie

    I'm eating like a pig.....

You are just suffering from "last meal syndrome" as I have heard it called. Most people go through it....I know I did. You might want to check with your docotr about a pre op diet. Mine was only liquids for 3 days prior.... and believe me... I ate right up to those 3 days!!! Don't beat yourself up. You are perfectly normal :w00t:
  13. My goal for the Memorial day Challenge is 15 pounds. I would love to do more, but I am going back home to MI for 2 weeks, and that tends to mess up my loss. :smile2:
  14. Sorry, I forgot to post my loss yesterday. I was down -3 since Saturday.
  15. Mim, I can't find your number ... I know I have it somewhere. Can you give me a call on my cell?? 734-395-0548. julie
  16. I am still planning on going... is anyone else??
  17. A memorial day challenge sounds great to me :smile2:
  18. Kayleigh's Mommy: how is your MIL doing after her surgery? Sorry I didn't get to see you that day in recovery, they kept me in pre-op the entire day. Nora- Not so good. Dr Shofnos came out and told me the nodes were cancerous. We went to RM Cancer Center in Parker yesterday. It is small cell lung cancer. She is starting chemo on Monday. This is kind of funny (in a sad way) : after her surgery she was complaining about a LOT of pain... then said her right arm was numb. They sent her for a MRI, and ordered a neurological consult . Dr Shafnos (sp?) came to the waiting room to tell me this, also to tell me that nothing they had done would cause this... at the most if he had hit/injured a nerve it would be on the left side, not the right. He called me in the waiting room later and told me her brain was fine.... no stroke that day,,, or ever. I just said "told ya so" they kept her over night and she came home Friday afternoon. Even though she is a huge faker, I know this is a very real, very serious illness. We have a long road ahead of us with treatments and such. Thanks for asking, it was so great taling to you, and I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.
  19. I am -2.6 this week. Looking foraward to meeting up at Red Robin
  20. Put me down for +3 for the week. I just knew that illness related weight loss wouldn't stick. :crying:

    100 Pounds!!

I'll let you know when they are. I am not a Dr K patient, but I do read their board. They welcome patient from all different doctors. They pretty much feel the same as you... it's not the doctor who did the surgery.. it's the fact that we all need support from each other. I am pretty sure there is a meeting on the 7th of April (The day I am flying to MI) I believe it is someone from another state coming in for a fill. It's not at RR. I'll have to find out where and let you know. Again... congrats on the great loss. j

  24. I was really sick this week.... I had strep. The good news is that I lost 5.4 pounds this week. I guess that's what happens when your throat is so sore you can't eat or drink, huh???

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois

James, I really hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but BC/BC of IL os HORRIBLE. There are a couple of threads about them out there. I am hoping it may be easier for you... but they made my life not so pleasant (to put it mildly) This doesn't mean you shouldnt fight, of course (and I suspect it will be a fight.) All I can say is please don't take the word of the first person you talk to.... my experience of them is no one there knows what they are doing, and you will get 5 different answers from 4 different people, Good luck on your fight, I am really hoping this works for you!!!
