My story:
After my 3rd child at the age of 43, I began putting on weight steadily at 10 lbs per year. It wasn't that I was overeating, just being less and less active. It seemed the more weight I gained the LESS activity I wanted to do. Everything ached, my hips, knees, ankles and feet. Within the last year, I did so little activity that besides going to work, I found myself laying around on the sofa day and night. I had no physical activity with my family. Until I was asked to be the assistant coach of my daughter's school basketball team. Hello, Wake Up Call! I couldn't keep up at all. The gigantic light bulb above my head went off! Finally I realized that ONLY I could save myself - from ME! I had begun the bariatric process over a year before but due to insurance issues and deadlines, it wasn't until our new insurance - through a new hospital group - it all began to come together. And before you know it, it was the day of surgery, May 2, 2017. I can not express the joy I felt going into surgery. After surgery, I realized, that from that day on, I would control how good I felt. And this is just the beginning. Stay tuned, I cannot wait to see where this new journey will lead me.
