    Failed Lapband

Hello everyone! Here is my lap-band story...I got banded on 8/2014 SW:369, I am now almost 3 years out and weigh 335lbs. Clearly I failed my lap-band. I try not to be hard on myself but its almost impossible not to be. Post-op I had 2 pregnancies (1 of which was a demise) So needless to say my weight was up and down, at my lowest I went down to 312lbs. I recently had a baby boy 12/2016 highest prepartum weight was 345lbs, I came down to 335lbs postpartum, had a fill on 5/3/2017- initially I went down 6lbs and now I'm back up! I am not a victim here..I know my eating habits play a major role. There are days where I am your regular Jillian Michaels and others where I'm eating like a 15 y/o boy going through a serious growth spurt. Nonetheless, I feel defeated. I am scheduled to have another fill on 6/5/2017, but called my surgeon and asked for a VSG consult instead. I am lost, confuse..torn all of the above. Part of me feels like I just need to get back on track and remain consistent..the other part of me feels the band is just not enough for me and the amount of weight I need to lose. Help! I could really use some advice. Thank you in advance!
  2. Hello everyone, I am a bit over 2 weeks out and struggling with the Stage 2! My surgeon ok'd me for protein shake, yogurt, pudding, soup, cottage cheese and ricotta- but no scrambled eggs or chicken etc yet. I am lost- have no idea how to spice it up and am getting really bored. I live on ricotta bake, oatmeal with genepro and protein shakes for now. Help!

    August Sleevers ?!

Lapband revision to sleeve completed! My surgery went well, I came home today-on Stage 1-clear SF liquids...can't wait for Stage 2! Good luck everyone!! BTW dont weigh your self immediately post-op, they pump you with so much IV fluids you will likely weigh more than you did pre-op.

    August Sleevers ?!

Hello everyone.. Im scheduled for 8/1!! Tmrw- so exciting and scary. Wish you all well on the journey <3
  5. Hello everyone, so I am very torn with how much recovery time I actually need. I had the lapband and was sore for 3 days, I milked it and took two weeks off. This time around I dont want to take time off I dont need ( I have kids now)- so how many days off would is appropriate? I really need and appreciate the feed back!
  6. Ok guys, needs some insight. Besides the obvious : gas x strips, protein shakes, measuring cups, water, SF jello, broth, vitamin water zero, SF ice pops. Is there anything else I should stock up on, surgery is scheduled for 7/18/2017 and I'm shopping for everything on 7/15/2017. Help!! Thanks <3
  7. So this just in...My surgery was pushed to August 1st, due to my white blood cell count being elevated ( acute pharyngitis)- PCP isn't able to give me clearance until my labs are perfect. So yea- this is a bit of a blessing ins disguise, by the date being pushed I get to accrue more time off work/ can take more time off. I am going to take 2 weeks off now instead of 4 days.

    Pre-op Food Prep

Great idea on the Tylenol- I did'nt even think about pain management. I was actually thinking they would prescribe something-or hoping atleast, but I will pick some up. What did you use the pads for?
  10. Ok, so I am taking off 4 days and adding the weekend it will a total of 6 days where I can get rest. Hoping to be back in front of my desk Monday the 24th. Hope its enuff..if not I can always nap on my lunch break- I work from home so its pretty likely this is what will be happening lol. Thank you all for your pov/ sharing your experience and thoughts <3
  11. Amazing advice. Thank you so much, so very true!
  12. Hello everyone, so I am having a revision (lap-band to sleeve) on 7/18/2017. Aside from husband who for the most part supports my decision and understands why I need WLS, the rest of my family does not. Take my mother for instance, she went as far as saying she had a dream I died and then went on to try to talk me out of my revision. She even started to tell me stories of people who successfully lost the weight w/o surgery! I cut our conversation short. You would think the woman who saw me struggle with my weight all my life would be the 1st to understand why this is necessary. I was 190 lbs in 5th grade for crying out loud! A. Anyway, pardon the rant- I'm just wondering has anyone else had lack of support and had family discourage them, and if so how did you deal? other hand- my mother, who I speak to everyday does not.
  13. Thank you so much, funny thing is I think the same thing about my little guys. I want to be there for their every accomplishment.
  14. EXACTLY!!! You hit the nail on the head. Some ppl dont /wont even try to understand the reasoning behind decisions such as WLS. Awesome breakdown!
  15. Super cool we are having it done the same week!! Lets definitely stay in touch- wish you all a safe surgery with a speedy recovery <3 BTW..its less than 2 weeks away!!!
  16. Aww yay!! We can be surgery buddies.mine got pushed to the 18th =/ but its all the same! Cant wait <3

    Surgery tomorrow 6/29!!

    Wishing you all the best!!!
  18. Thank you guys for sharing your specific situations. You guys are right-I will def be based on the individual and perhaps even the work. I work from home for my 1st job so Im thinking a week off is enough as Im sitting on my butt all day lol. My 2nd job which is home care nursing out in the field I will likely take 3 weeks off. I am just really scared about the lethargy /foggy headedness. Lets see how it plays out. Thanks again!!
  19. Well I only the joined a gang because I swore for the life of me they were chanting " tacos for life"..come to find out it was "vatos for life" =/
  20. Clearly..it is. There is a stigma with ppl who shoot up, snort, smoke substances..but food isn't so bad-is it? Well to me it is. Food is my escape, my anxiety pill, my anti-depressant,my security blanket. Its who I run to when I've a had a bad day or a good day. Its always there to listen..to comfort. But it comes with a price..your health. Emotional eating is detrimental to your health, which is why we are all here. Undergoing WLS is us taking control and demanding from ourselves that we find another venue. The key to avoid regression is to find a venue that can take foods place , one that isn't self-destructing. Basically swap the bad with the good. WLS puts us on the journey of self-discovery and it is a beautiful thing to allow ourselves to experience that. I pray everyone here including myself that suffers from emotional eating finds a self- evolving outlet. Just thinking out loud <3

    Food is my drug

Awesome story Sherrie! I am so happy the sleeve is working for him and his mind/conditioning is losing the battle! My background is similar also, mom was abusive, dad an alcoholic...but we always had food! I definitely did not get the emotional support I needed while growing up and here I am...picking up the pieces. I wish you and your husband well <3
