This is the main reason I have not told everyone at work. I tell if they ask & seem supportive, otherwise clam up.

I have United Health & they approved me in just less than 2 weeks & that was over the Christmas holiday. Covered me 100% (plus $20 co-pay for Dr visit). I had BMI of 36 with high blood pressure, sleep apnea & back pain. Would have been scheduled for surgery right after EKG but they thought they may have seen an abnormality on EKG so had to have a stress test. After stress they said all was OK & EKG just had 1 of the leads in the wrong place so it was OK after all. So it depends on EKG & your general health of whether he asks for stress test or not. I had mine at Pine Creek Medical which was great, new place all state of the art. But Suregery Center of Richardson does more Lap-Bands than anywhere else in the world (I think) & Medical City is world-renowned, so I wouldn't worry about any of those facilities at all. I agree 80 lbs may be a bit higher than you should hope for, but you'll feel so much better whatever the amount is. Just dwell on being the best you can be & enjoy the visit. That should wow 'em enough!!

All I can say is "whew!" I appreciate all the input from everyone.

I'll be at work & miss the support group :-( Hey I guess I spoke too soon about not feeling bad. Am now starting to feel pain & tenderness at the big incision, I think that's where the band went in & the port is? But liquid Vicodin sure helps. I too see Dr Jay on the 8th 3pm, maybe will see you there, Julie. I'm the tall blonde with glasses who needs a haircut bad. Maybe I'll get it cut by then. OH! I will be 50 then, my b-day is 7th. So I guess I'll look real O-L-D. I found a new pudding Kozy Shack Tapioca sugar-free, think it came from Tom Thumb, maybe Albertson's.

Yeah I slept in bed from 1st day. Even on my belly. No problemo. Sorry you're not doing as well, hope it gets better soon. No trouble getting in & out of car either. I work sitting at desk doing computer stuff, nothing physical. Let us know what Dr Jay says. Wish I could go to support group but I think will be at work, what time is it Feb.2? I work evenings.

Jamoorse, I'm doing fine so far. Didn't go back to work today but gonna try for tomorrow. A little pain on the big incision but not much. I discovered I am allergic to the adhesive on the bandages & have red itchy squares around each one but the actual incisions look pretty good. And most of my strips have already come off, a little early I think but all looks & feels OK. I haven't gained any yet, so am still down about 10 lbs from the liquid diet. Remember Dr Jay says most important thing right now is to HEAL. Weight loss to come soon don't worry.

Don't think I'll be up to going out yet. Day 3 after surgery & still in a bit of pain yet. Maybe we can do this again some time as I would love meeting y'all.

I can't find the reference right now, but I think hair loss can be from stress of surgery, any type of surgery, after a few months out. Stops on its own but I also remember Biotin as helpful supplement. So be sure getting all the healthly nutrition you can & don't worry too much! I'm thinning too so am not looking forward to any more loss up there!

DeeDee lookin' great! You do have fabulous eyes. Not to mention fabulous hair (how do you get it so sparkly?) smile, personality. Good luck with the man of your dreams, I found mine at first sight too.

I was just banded yesterday 1/25/06. So far all is great, no nausea or burps or anything just a bit sore. Slept great (of couse liquid Vicodin helped!) but I was afraid I wouldn't be able to sleep on my belly & I can. Just careful turning. And stairs to my bedroom have been no problem. Wow, Nykee what a hard life. You really broke my heart. I was poor but we almost always had something, maybe just rice but always something. I do remember school lunches were the greatest. But remember you are not full of crap. You are not crap. You are a kind & generous woman who is doing the best she can & hang in there. 63 lbs is great & we are here for you. We are here for you & love you.

I am officially banded & band-aided & on drugs! Thanks for support from all of y'all. It went well and don't feel too bad but I just took a bit of liquid Vicodin to keep it that way.

Off to see Dr Jay! Boy is it early !! (I work evenings & this is way early to me.)

Liquids! I'm beginning to hate 'em! Surgery scheduled for this Wed so am now on day 5 of pre-op. What fun. But it'll be worth it.

My niece gave me the biggest compliment she could imagine, told me I looked just like Miss Piggy! She was about 5 at the time. :thankyou:

Melissa, just curious, which is the "busiest lapband facility in the world"? I've chosen Dr.Jay by the way.

Perhaps it's because you just had a tummy tuck in december & he wants you to heal just a bit more before doing another fill? Maybe he thinks you're trying to do to much right now. If you still feel you need more restriction, there are several really good doctors here that may give you a second opinion, or a fill. Let us know. By the way, I'm not even banded yet, so what do I know anyway?

I won't get banded till next Wed, but all I pay is $20 for office visits. Nothing for surgery or tests. United Health Care. Thank you Lord!
