sleevemebabyy reacted to Rainbow_Warrior in October Sleever Preparing for pre op diet
My four week pre-op shakes and food is supposed to start Thursday Sept 14th ready for surgery Thursday October 12th. I actually kicked it off 15 days ago just to familiarise my adaption.
I did have a "blowout" for my sister-in-law's 60th 9/9/17 ... beer, smorgasbord, cake, etc.
Already down 6.9kg (16-17 lbs) ... caused my surgeon and dietitian much pleasure.

my pre-op diet should be starting in about a month. I have already bought some shakes. I have found there is one a "the dollar Tree" that I am allowed its called "protein Boost" it a mix berry flavor. its 45 calories, no sugar, and 10 grams of Protein in a 3 ounce serving. its made with a Hydomaxx protein Blend. its also gluten, lactose, and soy free. I am not sure if it will help you much, but its no to bad tasting.

Are you diabetic? If not Premier Protein at Walmart is not bad and it has 30grams of Protein per drink.

Honestly this isn't an easy surgery to go through for anyone.....some heal faster than others and some don't. Some people can get majority of their liquids in and others can't even meet half of their daily intake. It's a mental thing all around. Take longer walks through out the day to get your mind of the pain or just do extra things around the house. If your just moping around then that makes u think more about the negatives. 3 weeks out is a pretty decent time where u should be able to be out and about with friends. And reading your never going to eat your favorite foods again is bs. I know people personally who've had a successful surgery and have dropped over their goal weight and still have cheat days. It's all about you controlling yourself and saying ok I'm full I'm not going to continue eating this. When your able to eat regular foods again, meal prep for the week and then Friday or Saturday have a cheat meal and then get back on your meal prep the next day. Because if you just give up and just binge eat on all the bad foods that got u where u were before the surgery then the surgery was just pointless you know? It's all in your control! Just think of your goal weight and where u want to see yourself! Or even buy an outfit that u want to fit in by next summer and that can be another motivation for u! Don't give up because I'm rooting for you and I know you can do this...be strong for yourself and push through! [emoji1377][emoji171]

@sleevemebabyy
I agree. give the scheduler a day to get settled
back to work. then go to her office with a cookie
in hand. that might encourage her to get her arse
in gear hope things get rolling and you get a
surgery date sooner than later.
good luck

It has now been a month and I haven't heard anything from my surgeons office. I was told by nutritionist that I should have been given a tentative date by now... she instructed me to call the scheduler on August 2nd I called and her voicemail said she would be out of the office until August 7th. Next month will make a year since I started the process. I've completed all of my task ... I understand if the surgery may have to be pushed out due to schedule conflicts but at least communicate something with me should I continue to call and leave voicemails? Of just wait?

Call after August 7 - give the scheduler a day to get back in the office, listen to the 700 voicemails and emails and start to respond and then give a call on the 8th. If you're lucky, s/he will answer the phone and say, oh, I was just about to call you. . . . .

After you have met all of your requirements to submit authorization to your insurance carrier is usually when your surgery date is set. As soon as my surgeon's nurse submitted the paperwork for the authorization she gave me a surgery date which was about a month from the time she submitted the authorization to the insurance. I will be having surgery on August 24th. I am still waiting for the approval from the insurance company. It has only been a week since it was submitted. I told my employer a month before the surgery because I have to fill out FMLA paper work for the time off. Hope that helps you with your questions.
