  1. Can really see my port now, have lost 25 kilos, but always been slim around waist area where it was put. But can see mine when am standing up without clothes, when lye down and turn over boy oh boy does it stick up. hope nothin horrible happens like happened to your mum, breaking the skin.:sneaky:

  2. Ok while I agree with Gordon a little about eating what you enjoy and what you can tolerate, I have to get on the nutritional bandwagon.

Can you add some vegetables and milk or yogurt (since you probably don't have 2 cups of milk in your coffee :sneaky:)? You might want to add more Protein since 1-2 eggs will only have 6-12 grams of Protein and I believe most bandsters are advised to shoot for 60 grams of protein per day. I know we are told to eat, rather than drink our calories, but could you take some milk, banana and Protein Powder, blend with ice and at least make a shake? If you won't add veggies and such, are you at least taking Calcium and a good Multivitamin? I didn't calculate your calories, but I am thinking you are not likely eating enough, since I don't think you are getting much more than 600 calories a day.

You haven't said whether you are hungry on your current diet, but if you up your protein intake, you will likely feel satisfied for longer.

I tend to eat 1200 to 1500 calories a day, will cut bread down, and add more protein to fill me up

  3. I was banded 13th of Feb and I had the same experience with my Port seeming to want to POP out felt spooky but now 6 weeks later it has gone in and seems to have turned . I went for my first fill today and Doc has had to send me to Radiology next week for the fill as it was too hard to locate.

So I would'nt worry if I was you as things change and it's easier to go with the flow eh? Doc was pleased with my weight loss of 14 kilo's so far But I must say I was really expecting the kilo's to fall off and now it has slowed to a trickle even though I'm following the rules. Why is this and is it normal at this stage ?

    Keep smiling, Jan:lol:

You done really well I have lost 25 since mid Sep 2007, I started just above 100kg.Thank goodness someone else had port like mine, was starting to get self conscious and he said would get more noticable.I am now in 70's and sticks out, but i have always been slimmer around the waist area.

  4. I, too, use to be a night time eater but with my program I can only eat 3x a day. So I eat between 7pm - 9pm (I usually go to be around 11 pm - 12pm). I think it would be even easier for me if I went to bed earlier,

Eating later a good idea, but cant eat too late as other half already home when i get home, and he wants to eat not too late as he gets up early, bumber, but will try and make as late as possible.

  5. Will stick to try one piece of bread a day, but healthy bread, and no butter on it. I just thought lap banders could not eat bread it got stuck, but i must admit i chew and chew and chew slowly. Even had a hot cross bun this morning, minus the butter for brekkie.

  6. There's no set number of calories (e.g. 1000) that's the magic number for everyone here. I'm almost 6' tall and moderatly active. My calorie needs are probably going to be very different from yours, so what I eat has nothing to do with what you should eat.

Find your BMR. There are range charts you can find online. If possible, determine your AMR. Then go for something between the two. My BMR is about 1877. When I pay attention to calories (not usually), I try to hit around 50% of my BMR, so roughly 930 calories.

Half the BMR, or a threshold between your BMR and AMR (if you can determine it) is generally a good guideline for weightloss.

    thanks will find my bmr

  7. My clinic does recommend one apx 20-25g Protein Shake a day, just to make sure you are getting in all the Protein the body needs to maintain muscle mass while loosing weight. They want us getting 90g of protein a day (that number varies from clinic to clinic, however). BUT!!! They are also very specific that we need to be EATING our calories, not DRINKING them. My band is pretty tight in the morning so I make a shake for breakfast & don't usually start solid foods until lunch.< /div>

Thanx for the comment, my surgeon did not say anything about protein needed, but the morning shake is good idea, and by the photo can see really paying of for you, well done, will follow in your foot steps

  8. One of the other lovely members told me she is on 800 - 1300 calories per day plus does 1 and half hour daily work out. I am 73 kilos lost 25 so far. How many calories are you others on too lose weight? want to know what i should be on my doctor says dont worry re calories, just stop eating when full, but i want to keep losing weight.

  9. There's not really a lot you can do - depends on your age, how heavy you are and how long you have been carrying the weight. I do know of someone who swears by Bio Oil - you can pick it up at Big W or health food shops. It's suppose to stop stretch marks so it may help.

    Danna

Thanx using the bio oil externally, thought there may have been some Vitamin to take internally, alas otherwise surgery maybe, was hoping wouldnt have to lead to that though.
