  1. Almost there! Everyone looks great Keep it up! I had lapband surgery in May of 2008. I was a size 20 and 286 pounds. Pre Lap Band...went from 286 to 195 and a size 10-12. . Got married 7/09 and then pregnant. Lap Band unfilled completely (never again!) and ballooned all the way back up to 283 Post baby 4/2010. I was around 250 here. August 2011. Down to 159 and a size 7-8. I can't believe I only have 9 pounds til goal. I've been heavy as long as I can remember. I remember being 12 and weighing 20-30 pounds more than I do now. So happy.

  3. I started my journey May 2008 at 286 pounds. Got down to 195 in a year before my surprise bundle of joy. Had a total unfill and creeped back up 283 at 9 months pregnant. Over the last 15 months, I have lost 111 pounds and I am so excited to be close to the finish line! May 2008, before surgery, 286 April 2010, 260 April 2011 May 2011
  4. I had an issue with supply from the start, but I think it's more me than the band because I had it even before I got filled again. Either way, I'm 9 months pp and still breastfeeding. I have to supplement with formula but for the first 7 months I was doing about 80% breast/20% formula. Now it is more like 40% / 60% because as I have gotten more fills, my supply has decreased.
  5. Congrats! That is amazing news. I had a band baby in January. Had a total unfill with the pregnancy and gained it all back. I've had a hard time losing it again. I was at 195 when I got pregnant and 283 when I had my son. I am now at 225, but it has taken me almost 9 months to lose it. I'm not tight enough but when my doc filled my last my reflux was so bad he had to unfill. I'm feeling discouraged.
  6. I too just found out I am preggers. I was having a hard time keeping anything down, so my doc completely unfilled me. SCARY!
  7. Congrats!!
  8. I never thought this day would come. A week ago I got a fill which REALLY gave me restriction. I had been at a weightloss slowdown for months. Well, yesterday I went shopping, and fit into a size 12 jeans and bathing suit (down from size 18-20)! I was thrilled with that. Tonight I got on the scale and it read 199! ONEDERLAND. I have not been in the 100s in my entire teenage or adult life. I lost a lot of weight in highschool, but never got under 206 and that is exactly where I had been stuck for the last month. I could not be happier. 35 more to go. The goal seems so attainable now, where a year ago, it did not.
  9. Well, I've officially hit my one year bandiversary. While I had hoped to be in onederland by now, 7 pounds away is not so bad! I will get there, mark my words :purplebananna: May 2008 May 2009
  10. I've been losing VERY slowly for the last few months, but at least it is still going in the right direction. I am at my highschool weight right now, and I have never been under the stinking 206 mark since 9th grade! It is so frustrating! I so desperately want to see 199. I will likely cry the day that happens. What's weird is that last month I was on the verge for asking for an unfill because I was having really bad reflux and couldnt keep anything down, but decided against it. One week later, I felt like I had no restriction at all! I went for a fill 2 weeks ago and still didnt feel a change. So I made an appointment for yesterday. My doc laughed because he said some people don't come in every couple of months and here I am every couple of weeks! And I said "well those people are dumb. If you go through the trouble of having surgery then you need to do the follow up if you aren't losing weight!" So I got another fill yesterday and I hope this will do the trick. I have been having terrible cravings for sweets lately, but I am sticking to my diet. It is probably all the stress--in the process of buying a home and planning a wedding! I HAVE to lose the 40 pounds fast!
  11. I was feeling a little down today. I've been stuck at the same weight for several weeks now and still feel huge. I then came across this picture from the same time last year.I hadn't seen it before. What a difference a year makes! Just the kick in the butt I needed to show me how much progress I've made and will keep making. April 2008:scared2: April 2009
  12. 7 months and counting. 61 pounds down so far and so happy. It's recently that most people have noticed. I get comments like "you're withering away" "hey slim" etc. I love it! Pre band- May 2008  12/31/2008:thumbs_up:
  13. Exactly. 38 pounds is remarkable
  14. I found myself reading this thread with very similar thoughts. All of a sudden I wanted to smack myself! We are all COMPLAINING about losing 30, 50, and 70 pounds in 7 months! When was the last time you lost that amount of weight? I know it has been a long time since I lost it. We should all be proud of ourselves and determined to keep going and not look back. We are all very different, but have a common goal-and that is to be healthy. Many of us have been eating the wrong things or not exercising, myself included. Holidays or no holidays--it is time to get back on track. Waiting until after the holidays is just another excuse and another door back into old habits. So, let's turn this thread around. Instead of complaining about how little we have lost, let us encourage each other to dust ourselves off and keep going. You all gave me the motivation to start exercising first thing tomorrow morning! Thanks :tongue_smilie:
  15. I just call it character
  16. I have been gurggling for 6 months now-every time I eat or drink. My coworkers call me squeaky.
  17. It took BCBS Highmark 3 hours to approve me. I almost fell off my chair:biggrin:
  18. Hi everyone! Wednesday is my 6 month bandiversary, and I am officially 53 pounds down :smile2:. It's amazing to think that in 6 more months, I may officially be "average size". Wow! This is me right before banding at 283 And last weekend at 230
  19. thanks for the advice everyone. I ended up getting .7 taken out and had instant relief. It was pretty scary-- I couldnt swallow my own saliva without a terrible pain in my chest. Thank god that my dr happened to be in the office at 7p on a Friday night! I feel much better now
  20. I went yesterday for my 3rd fill (1cc for 4ccs total). I'm having chest pain today. This morning i was able to sip my protein shake and get the 8 oz down in about a 4 hour period. I had 4 oz of broth at like 3pm and immediately had to throw up. I must have thrown up like 6 times. I then got the hiccups which havent gone away in over an hour. I called my surgeon but he is in surgery right now. I am just wondering if it is unusually tight day 1 and then loosens up or should i go get an unfill? I was so excited about hitting my sweet spot that i dont want to give up so easily!

This week has been a trial to say the least. My aunt, who is my heart and soul, has been very ill and in the hospital for weeks. I visit her almost every day and she cries her eyes out to me telling me how much pain she is in. It breaks my heart because she has a broken back that can only be fixed with surgery, but docs say that she cannot withstand surgery. So basically there isnt much that can be done. I lost my mom to cancer when I was 19 so she and my sis are all I've got (dad hasnt been in the picture since I was a child). To top things off, my sister moved back to Miami from North Carolina and asked me to live with her. Against my better judgement, I agreed. As I expected, we arent getting along. My sister has a very bad temper and gets mad over everything. She is a 39 year old woman and in a matter of 24 hours, she threw a fit at the pharmacy because they were closed and kicked down the products from the shelves. She then yelled obscenities at a plant (I kid you not) because the plant scratched her. Finally, she yelled at me because I went to get a bottle of water and the dog barked and woke her up. That was really the breaking point for me. If I can't even get water without her outbursts... But I am stuck there under a lease for a year. I've basically been at work, hospital, and then in my room without speaking to her for a week. Normally, this would have made me turn to food. I would have pigged out on all kinds of junk. I wont lie, on Sunday I had a brownie. But, I dusted myself off and have been pretty darn good since. I haven't stuck completely to liquids. I usually have a salad or piece of chicken for dinner. I can tell I am losing weight. Haven't weighed myself this week, but am excited to see what the number reads. Anyway I'm proud of myself. I've managed to overcome a huge obstacle for me- depression eating!

  23. take it to a tailor! then you can reenact that yogurt commercial where she is talking about eating key lime pie etc and how her clothes need to be taken in
  24. I had two NSVs this past week! First, I went for my fill and my doc said NO. He said "you are doing great. You lost 11 pounds in the last month. You don't even NEED a fill". At first I was bummed because I felt like I went there for nothing, but then I realized that wasnt a bad thing  Second, my best friend slept over yesterday. I woke up and was getting dressed for work and he said "You're shrinking!" He looked under the bed and then back at me and said "where did you go?" LOL that made my day
  25. I would definitely speak to your doc because you may be eating too many calories. I, personally, have to keep to under 1000. My doctor also suggested going back to liquids for a couple of weeks. He actually had a patient who stayed on full liquids for 2 months and lost 100 pounds. I headed his advice, and have been on liquids for the last 2 weeks. I havent weighed myself yet, but I can tell that the weight is falling off now. I also noticed that it dramatically decreased my appetite and cravings I was having. Just a thought  Hang in there!
