Definitely stool and gas odors so I'm very careful what I eat in public and carry certain sprays (I've tested a ton of them) to deal with it. You learn what to eat & when and then it's manageable. It hasn't hindered me at all. No one knows I've had WLS.

I am the same no odors...but I do carry Poo Pourri. :) 81bL15oPc9L._SL1500_.jpg

  2. Morning!

I was wondering if other people log their food and if so what do you monitor more, the calories or just focus solely on your Protein intake? I am trying to stay under 600 calories but sometimes higher protein Snacks or meal substitutions have a higher caloric intake. Also since I have been working out I am getting much more hungry...since I just had my surgery on 6/28/17 I still have my Protein Shake (which that right there is 160 calories) I was drinking an Isopure clear for a snack since that was only 8 ounces and helped me reach my protein level. As of yesterday I went and bought the premier clear and that is 90 calories but 20 grams protein.... but it will also add to my Water. I guess I am just testing the waters and trying to find a a happy balance. Any advice is welcome! I really want to hear from some veteran DS family! Thank you in advance! :)

I have to return to work 7 days post surgery; is that absurd, or possible?

Is this business days or do you work weekends? I was trying to figure out dates for you.... I think if you get that binder and just walk a ton after surgery you should be fine! :) (I sit at a desk also and I think that binder would have helped me immensely)

  4. I had my surgery on June 28th was scheduled back on July 5th....but I had already told them if I did not feel well enough I would be back on the 10th. Thank goodness I did...those few more days saved me. My biggest issue was lack of sleep. I was sleeping on my back and it was not good. I finally was able to go sleep on my side by the 7th- and I used a pillow to help lift my belly. I wish I had purchased a binder prior to surgery so that may help you. Good luck!

Whoa - I hope you don't mind me asking, but I was looking at your personal stats on the left side of your post and saw that you've lost 65 lbs in about 2-3 weeks. Really? That's stunning! How is your body handling that?

Let me clarify :) When I started my process with my doctor I was 390 ( I did my three months work out/and diet with my nutritionist).....so when I had my pre-op meeting (June 5th) I was 365. I started my liquid diet on June 7th....day of surgery I was 340/339. (cannot recall exactly surgery morning was a bit of blur) Now...I weighed yesterday and I have only lost 1 lbs....I fear I might be in that stall. But overall I am feeling optimistic. Keep up the great work GenJones! :)

Babe hair Extensions are 100% good quality Remi hair and they have the halo extensions. I have struggled with Hair loss due to my PCOS for years and I am preparing to lose more after surgery. I have always used the itip extensions by babe. They clamp on with a bead and have actually made my hair healthier and grow back because it prevents the heat from my straightener from touching my roots. I seriously could not make it without my extensions. Being a woman with extremely thin hair is not easy at all.

As first time user, do you think it is easy to put them in? I have thinning hair and I use to have super thick hair and it is upsetting. I just want my hair to look full again...

I had revision from sleeve to DS on the 28th. I can drink more than I was able to the days (one ounce) following surgery. I don't gulp. If I try to drink too much (like three swallows/drink) my tummy says, 'have you lost your mind'. I have never had to vomit behind any weight loss surgery. I'm struggling to get my Protein in because my body (for the first time) is rejecting all things sugar free - doesn't matter the type...I'm married to the throne.

Wow I am so sorry that must be so tough, this morning was the first time since surgery I felt like I could throw up. But it was totally my fault...I took my pills and then brushed my teeth. I literally looked myself in the mirror and said don't do this and stood up straight hoping gravity would help. It did, but I still feel like I have a lump in my throat. You had your surgery on June 28th as well? Lucky I don't get to eat meat until the end of this month. Hope things get better for you.

  8. Fellow DS fam..... I keep reading about sipping Water. I was very much in shock when I could take a fairly average drink of water. When I had my gastric bypass and took a large "gulp" of water it was like NOPE and would come back up. With my DS I can take a normal drink of water...just wondering if I was alone in this. I saw my lil pouch whenever they did the x-ray to make sure no holes or leakage, but I have still shocked. Could it possibly be because I am still on the "liquid" diet per say? Today is the first day that I can have soft Protein eggs, beans and what not....so I am just curious. I did not eat any eggs or oatmeal this morning just went with a protein shake- and I brought another for lunch. I plan on making the ricotta bake tonight for dinner. I have not yet seen the push back from my tummy saying no, you cannot take anymore but then in that same sentence I am not "eating" to get full just trying to reach my protein intake. Which honestly yesterday was the first day I got maybe 65 grams of protein....I was super stoked. I appreciate any advice, really want to hear back from fellow DS people....TIA!:1330_v_tone1:

My stall is officially broken!! I'm down another pound as of this morning!! Whew.

That is great- a little over 2 weeks, I googled the stall and some people had a stall for 4 weeks. I wonder if I should just stay away from the scale for a bit. Not eating much (calorie wise) and not losing doesn't really sound fun.

TDS: Dr Ayoola (Dallas) is fantastic and does revision surgeries. I did not have the RNY but some of his patients have -- give his office a call. It can't hurt to speak with professionals. People from all over the country come to him because he is just that excellent of a surgeon!

I went to Dr. Ayoola originally, really loved him. But his office staff was lacking and honestly had me on the run around. (maybe things have changed- my first visit with him was Oct. 20. 2016) Pushed back my process a bit- I found Dr. Smith in Fort worth - I had the revision completed on 6/28 and he was wonderful and I cannot speak any higher of his staff.

Yeah, Chaos and I go to the same place, so I've tried the same sample pack. A few of them are passable, but it mostly is the equivalent of bubble gum flavored medicine. It tastes passable to swallow it. There's no mistaking it for candy.

I'm DREADING those berry flavored Celebrate ADEK Vitamins they gave us. I could barely choke down one. To do that multiple times a day for months? PASS.

I don't mind the Celebrate ADEK anymore- when I first started (prior to surgery BLEH!) but now...I guess I just miss chewing lol. I also do the mint quick dissolve b-12 I got both of those off this site.

This is a dangerous way of thinking. Knowing our bodies better than anyone got us all obese.

You trusted your doctor enough to let the doctor cut you open, trust your doctor enough to follow your doctors plan.

I was referring to her asking the question to us in general, not going against what her doctor ordered or advised her.

I never ever drink soda except if Im sick (just because I dont like it not any other reason) and then I drink diet gingerale. Is that okay if I just have that when Im sick or not even then?

I think you know your body better than anyone else and to me personally I think you are doing a great job! :)

Are you talking about regular soda, with sugar? Because I drink diet soda and I'm wondering if the "no soda post-surgery" is because of the carbonation or because of the sugar. I certainly wouldn't want to do anything bad for my liver but I really don't know what it is about soda that's bad for WLS patients.

My doctor strictly said NO carbonated beverages period. They feel that it could stretch the pouch. Also not good for you....which is obvious. But if I go through all this and stretch my pouch over a dumb soda I would be mad....this is just me of course. I also am not foolish to think that someday down the road I might have a sip of soda because I do not want to put that burden on myself if I did. But I am going to be strong and resist the urge.

  16. Just curious how people are holding up to this....I do not drink soda often at all. Honestly maybe 1 time a month or if I get sick I would have a sprite to settle my tummy. Now that I am not allowed to have it seems more tempting. Just wondering what others did to satisfy that need. Honestly I would rather have a club soda with lime....yum. I am sad to give up sparkling water...I drink Propel to switch it up. But I am open to other ideas, PLEASE! :)
