Thank you, thank you, thank you! This was extremely helpful! I am doing better with being realistic and not comparing myself to anyone else. I'm doing well! :-) I find that it's also a visual thing with me. I do not see myself as others currently do. I had to step back to take a glance and I love what I see.

I do not indulge in treats regularly. I may taste certain foods to see if my stomach will accept it and that's it. I did say that I ate two doughnuts that day, and it was only two doughnuts not a dozen. Along with my regular diet and my exercise regime, I am fine! I continue to lose weight and move forward. This may be very hard for some but it is not for me. I had a day of eating something that is not on the healthy list but I survived! Since that day I have had not urges for anything high in carbs. Half the time I don't even want to eat but I do and I keep it simple with Protein Drinks, veggies, Protein, salad and fruit. I am happier than I've ever been and I feel great! Being down 101lbs will do that to you. We are all doing fabulous! Look how far we've come.

I think people are talking about two different things.
One, folks extrapolating and addressing the OP as if reverting to binge eating and sabotaging their entire life/process.
Two, folks extrapolating and addressing the OP's statement that they understand they over-ate and trying to find their balance.
The OP specifically said they are not looking to punish themselves but acknowledged Portion Control as an issue they need to keep working on. I think admonishing or guilt/shaming a person or trying to scare them is not the way to support our process. I believe in encouraging people to accept and recognize they made mistakes or missteps, using that to learn and grow, and not making ourselves feel so bad that we have guilt (Which, to be honest, is one of my BIGGEST food triggers. Guilt over my own food choices) because that leads to self-hate which leads to sabotaging.

I sometimes have as I say out of control days myself. Just try not to do it. I am not sure why I do this I am 7 months out and still feel out of control sometimes.

Many people use Protein Shakes long term (especially for breakfast). I used them exclusively during the preop diet, but postop I haven't been able to tolerate them AT ALL. Even 3 months out, I tried again, and gave up, throwing the leftovers from preop away.
I was able to meet my Protein goals through dairy by about 12 days postop.. (and I was on Clear Liquids for the first 7 days, no protein shakes allowed.. so once I went to full liquids it only took a few days to start meeting my goal). Been meeting it ever since.
As for no veggies.. raw veggies are very hard on the healing tummy. Soft, cooked veggies are ok sooner, but you have to get your protein first, and only eat your veggies if you have room at the end of the day. Shucks, I'm just about 4 months out, and I still don't always have room for my veggies

I agree a treat once in a while is not going to hurt anyone, but the OP said she ate 2 donuts. In my mind that is way more than a treat. Honestly most people of a healthy weight don't pig out on sweets that is why they are a healthy weight. The further out you get from surgery the more you will be able to eat so I am guarding against getting back into the habits that got me overweight in the first place.
I intend to live my life to the fullest also and the only way that is going to happen is if I maintain a healthy sustainable diet and exercise program. I am happy that you are able to indulge and keep losing weight that is great.
I feel better than I have in 10 years so I will keep doing what works for me. There are no chains on me and never will be. We all make our own decisions everyday.

I'm 9 months deep into this and I've allowed myself a donut now and then, some ICE CREAM!! lol! Yes, Ice Cream. And other treats. But I can only eat such small quantities at a time it's almost irrelevant. I get Dumping Syndrome so I keep my sugar intake very low. Even when I indulge.

I reject ANY notion or thought process that doesn't allow for us to live our lives to fullest and enjoy treats from time to time. I had this surgery so I could go back living my life, not so I continued to live in chains.

Thank you for the advice, but I really am okay. I only ate them because I wanted "something". I don't even care for doughnuts, nor do I buy them. My stomach is not what stopped me from eating them, it was me. I did not need anymore. I was at my in-laws house. My relationship with food has changed so much that I no longer crave the foods I used to eat. I've been sticking to the plan as I should. My surgery date was April 3rd and since then I've lost 57lbs. and I'm moving forward. I will not always fall off but I thank people like you to keep me focused. Thanks a bunch and good luck to you too!

Today I have been snacking like no ones business, kind of. Today I had a sandwich. It was a mini sandwich that took me the day to eat, I hate it in halves. I then ate fruit and snacked on two Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I did not need them but they were awesome! I have still been losing weight and I have been being careful, but today was crazy. I will not punish myself but I will also continue to watch my portions, exercise and LIVE!

Just sleeved 7 days ago, I thought I was mentally prepared but I had a hard time the first few days, especially while in the hospital since I barely could get any sleep. There was a lot more pain and nausea than I expected. I didn't feel any pain from the actual stomach sleeve, it was the 6 incisions which were like 6 stab wounds that makes any movements that use your ab muscles (almost everything) very painful. It was managed well with the pain and nausea meds (be sure to keep taking them every 4 hours or so) but simple things like shifting around the bed, coughing, sneezing (ouch), hiccups, even peeing the first couple times were painful for me. After coming home and getting a good nights sleep, I was off the pain meds and it was downhill from there. You may feel a lot of regret at first but after the weight starts flying off, it will all be worth it! I'm down 11 lbs in 7 days so I would do it all over again if I had to!

My surgery was 6/1 and I was driving 6/5. I stopped taking my pain meds by day 3 because they made me itch.

I am a carnivore through and through, but I am also trying to incorporate more vegetable only meals into my week. I am focusing on fish , chicken, and turkey and trying to reduce the frequency that i eat red meats.
Thank you for your comments. It is hard sometimes to communicate well through written word without offending people, even when your intentions were to help. I have failed at this many times.
some posters are more direct, but most of the time their advice is good and I wouldn't discount it.

For me it was/is (simple) carbs. Sweets don't really tempt me at all.

I had mashed potatoes a couple times and I regret that now. IMO the particular danger with carbs in addition to the addiction principles, is the fact that it passes so easily in our sleeve. So you can eat more of that than you can of "real" food, and it doesn't really keep you full.

Still, I refuse to beat myself up about it- it happened, I am human, and I will remain positive and try my best not to let it happen again. And if it happens- oh well, my body will likely punish me for it and that punishment is sufficient.

I think everyone has to figure out things for themselves and for some of us that requires trial and error. I've had to throw up a couple times to figure out what my limits are in terms of quantity of food. In some cases, for certain foods, that is LESS than the doctor allows. We are all different- what works for me may not work for you, "it takes Diff'rent Strokes to move the world!"

I want to offer a little tough love here. You can completely ignore this if you want, but it comes from a place of having been there and done that and wanting to warn you.
Consuming two krispy cream donuts in a day is not cheating, it is binging with the size stomachs that we have. In fact the size of your stomach is probably the only thing that stopped you from eating more.
Before I had WLS I tried to follow various diets like most everyone, and the first sign that I was losing my willpower was allowing sweets back into my diet. Once you start you know how hard it is to stop. You have this window of opportunity to change your eating habits and relationships with food. Stay strong think about the reasons why you wanted to lose weight and get healthy. Are they worth eating a krispy cream donut?
Focus on the plan your doc/nut have you and be successful.
