  1. I was talking to a co-worker today about their experience with weight loss, since having a ByPass. They said that you have no control over how much weight you lose, Your body just loses it ... so if you don't have more than 100 lbs to lose, it could be dangerous to have a by pass. I have never heard that before. Is this true? My hubby wants to lose 100 lbs. will he be able to stabilize the weight loss at that point? Thank you for your input?
  2. You look amazing. Your Husband should be proud of his determined and healthy wife. I have a friend that had marriage issues after she lost a lot of weight. Her Hubby got jealous and insecure. It took a while for him to realize she still loved him and only him. Men are wired differently. He is taking out his insecurities on you. Not fair. Sorry. But.. you go girl. You look amazing!
  3. My Hubby and I are going in for consult to have a GBP. He and I have made a list of questions for the doctor, that we meet up with in a couple days. This Dumping topic is a huge question. Ok, dumping happens from the body not being able to process sugars and excess fat. Does this dumping happen in the beginning, shortly after surgery, for a little while, for the 1st year or so? or, does this happen for the rest of our life? Does this mean that we can no longer ever have a spoon of ice cream and a bite of cake, ever? So many questions. I also have a question about BM's. I read that some people get diarrhea, is it controllable? Can the Diarrhea be uncontrollable, happens for no reason with no time to wait type thing?

    Dumping??

I think if a person is being very good, and they are at a gathering where everyone is being served cake. Taking a small bite should suffice. I am not a sweets eater, so 1 bite would not lead to more. My weakness is salty/spicy/crunchy stuff. So would something so small cause that drastic dumping thing? Will artificially sweetened things cause the dumping, like a Choc. Protein Shake?

    3 days post op

I have had 2 C-sections a hysterectomy and a lap band... the lap band was a walk in the park compared to the other 3 surgeries. I know that walking as soon as you can is the best. It is painful, but there are a ton of benefits to it. Seriously, push yourself to walk... as soon as the doc says its safe. Its all going to hurt, all surgeries hurt. Each day will be better. The results will be INCREDIBLE!! I am having a Lap Band to Bypass revision, I cannot wait to get this done and get going. I had my Lap Band with hernia repair on a Wednesday, and was back to work on Tuesday. I felt good, not great, but it was doable. oh, and I am 52 years young. Mine was laproscopic, although the C-sections and Hysterectomy were not. LOL I'm not a fan of narcotics, I heel faster without them... it seems like it any way. I just take Tylenol. the gas pain.. Holy Sweet Jesus, did I have gas pain after surgery.... yowsa.. coming out of my collarbone area. How strange. Seriously that was the most painful part. It literally felt like someone had smashed my collar bone with a hammer. Once that was gone, I was good to go. I think it took a couple hours. The nurses kept a hot pad on my shoulder. I rubbed and rubbed my collar bone so much that I had a huge bruise on it. ugh.
