I had Lanzaprosol for 1 month only but haven't had it since except two times in the 2nd month when I had a little bit of acid reflux. I haven't had acid reflux since then.
So if it can happen years down the line, I'm not in the clear yet then!

I've been out of town for three months, so for a lot of people in my town it looks like these changes have happened all at once. Two of the nail salon workers spent 5 minutes gossiping with each other about how my face had thinned out, how my cheekbones are more prominent, and how my butt and thighs are much smaller (though they thought I wasn't using enough sunblock because I've freckled this summer). They also decided that it wasn't plastic surgery and that I must be eating practically nothing. This all happened right in front of me while I'm getting a pedicure.
They have entirely forgotten that I understand Korean.

I was offered all three options but chose the sleeve.

They tried to push me to have the bypass but I wasn't having it! My daughter had the sleeve and was very successful with it. My son had the band and he had a lot of problems with it. The bypass scared me as it seemed such a big step and the malabsorption really worried me. I didn't even know about the dumping part of it until after I had the operation and started reading these forums but even so, it would probably have made me more inclined towards the bypass as a way of keeping control.

Question though, I have never really had a problem with acid reflux, except maybe a couple of times since I had the sleeve operation. How long does it take to manifest if it is going to appear?

Hey if the Reverse Trendelenburg is basically standing me up I could have stayed awake for that! Of course, I would want to give advice as they proceeded, they would need a mouth gag or tape my 👄 mouth shut! I'm 72, I've lived forever, I'm just brimming with advice!!

@ mercmerc woweewow wow! One month- such a change I hope our other Columbus friends see, you, Dr Marc and Dr Bradley did a beautiful job on a beautiful lady. Keep posting, I went,to keep reading the Mercmerc Saga to the last page. A week and a half to Mine! Had to go to Martha Morehouse yesterday for one, last peri-surgery exam, vitals taken , X rays, more lab work and Blood Typing. Told them I am A. rhNegative, they don't believe me and the American Red Cross. I now have a red legal sized, envelope with a green wrist band inside, this is my Golden Ticket to Surgery, without this no surgery for ME. Its locked in the floor safe until I go. Oh mercmerc,it is Going To Be Happening!💦😛💦

I have just measured myself and using the measurements from before my surgery, I have lost 42 inches from my body, gobsmacked!

Unfortunately, 6 of those inches are from my boobs

I wore a pair of strappy sandals that previously wouldn't do up, not that I could bend over anyway to do it or that I could get that close to my own ankle!

But now, I can do both!

    OMG LADIES GUESS WHAT!
Guess who just got their surgery date!
I wrote a long, impassioned plea to my surgical team--who were holding off my surgery until I hit 10% initial weight lost (I'm at 5%, will be below that by another several pounds after a week of liquid diet)--to please try to fit me in before flu season gets going and I get bronchitis and get stuck having to put off my surgery until May (I get bronchitis every winter, and it holds on for months; this is one of many issues I hope will clear up, somewhat, when I am at a lower weight). I don't think they had realized I'd cut back my work hours (I work at a public service desk on campus, where people literally walk up and cough on me -- I've taken leave from that part of my job until after surgery, which leaves me with very few hours per week and a feeling that my employment is in limbo and my coworkers are angry with me), or just how much anxiety this whole shifting dates thing was causing me, because I don't always express myself well on the fly, in person. (Those of you who have seen my long, rambling posts are going "or in writing, either," and I hear you )
They just called and told me they'll give me their first available, which is ... so much better than I had hoped for! I am so happy! And suddenly, just, kind of jittery, because it feels so SOON.
The first week of October!!! That is so much better than I'd been expecting/braced for. SO MUCH better! I am over the moon, y'all!

    So I started at 304lbs ( 21' 10 ) for the uk'ers and blimey did I feel every pound!
I have lost steadily and I am now 245lbs (17' 7!) so very chuffed, and cannot believe how much my life has changed.
Here are a couple of before and afters, one at my heaviest and the other, two days ago for clarity.
I can't really see a massive difference myself but others have told me they can definitely see it, can you?

She is, she just has 23 more years of knowledge. Look at me, I'm 72 and I get ornerier every day. I'm a ♑ Capricorn, we get younger as we all age, by 80-85 I WILL BE A FORCE TO CONTEND WITH! I shall be brave enough to tell Donald Trump to shut up with those tweets.

I had dry mouth from surgery day up until a few weeks ago.

It was very noticeable to me at the time but it just seems to have faded out and it has now stopped. I even went to the doctors about it as I was quite worried but they just told me to drink more and try to sleep with my mouth closed. I am a mouth breather unfortunately so I know it would have dropped open as soon as I went to sleep lol.

But never fear, mine went away, hoping yours will too x

Reach out to your surgeons office and see if they can recommend a therapist for you. It sounds like you need to dig down and work on some deep issues.
In the meantime, try putting together meals and Snacks for the day ahead of time. Sometimes it helps to have things pre-prepared so you know what your "food allowance" is for each meal, or for each day. You can space out snacks accordingly - if you're looking for more right after a meal, ask yourself, "can I wait another hour before reaching for this next snack? " Consider that if you eat your allotted snacks too early you will be hungry later and try to space them out. This is just something I do to help when I am feeling like I am not satisfied even though I have just eaten.
Get rid of trigger foods that are in your cabinets or refrigerator. Having them readily available is just setting yourself up. When you feel a craving coming on, maybe go take a walk instead. Remove yourself from the places where in the past you had the habit of over-eating. It takes approximately 21 days to change your habits. Set this as a short term goal - when you have a craving, take a walk instead of reaching for food. Tell yourself that if you take a 20-30 minute walk and are still hungry when you get back, you will have a Protein snack.
Think of all the reasons that made you come to the decision to have this surgery. Maybe try journaling what you're feeling. It can be hard to lose the comfort that comes from food, it's like losing a friend. Find ways to keep your mind and hands busy - look for a new hobby that piques your interest.
You can do this. You are strong, have faith in yourself. Reach out to those in your life who support you.

Low and slow. Low amount of food (one egg is plenty for me), low ambition on what you're going to start with, eat slowly, especially on something new. I've noticed that if I start burping, I'm done; that's gas in the stomach getting displaced up the pipe, and it's displaced because there's nowhere else for it to go for all of the food.

    WEIGHT UPDATE

I am down a total of 34 lbs in six weeks!
15lb on two week pre-op diet
    19lbs in four weeks post-op

I’m feeling great! I can fit into chairs in doctors offices. I’m only six pounds away from my six week goal of 320. And only 9 lbs away from my goal of 315 which means I will have lost all the weight I gained in the last year (45lbs)!

After that 265 is my next benchmark!
