  1. So I started at 304lbs ( 21' 10 ) for the uk'ers and blimey did I feel every pound! I have lost steadily and I am now 245lbs (17' 7!) so very chuffed, and cannot believe how much my life has changed. Here are a couple of before and afters, one at my heaviest and the other, two days ago for clarity. I can't really see a massive difference myself but others have told me they can definitely see it, can you?
  2. Lol, god knows! but, you have still done absolutely amazing
  3. Well done! 142lbs in 5 months is amazing, you are a star!
  4. Mine too but my husband (he is a darling!) thinks its hilarious!
  5. I log everything in My fitness pal as I am too lazy to work out if I have any calories left for the day and also the amount of protein etc I have already eaten. Its just easier it does all the hard work for you!
  6. I had dry mouth around week 5, I had no idea what it was! I just tried drinking more and it gradually disappeared, I am now just over 12 weeks out.
  7. I think you aren't eating enough and your body is in starvation mode. 300 calories is too low, you need to be aiming for at least 800 by month two.
  8. Its totally normal to feel the way you do. I am just over 3 months since my surgery but it does get better! For the first few weeks, I felt the same, as though there just wasn't enough time in the day to get all the calories and liquid in, but you do have to keep trying. Don't worry too much in the very early days about the calories, just remember to eat your proteins first, followed by the veg and then if you can manage it, carbs. I aim for three meals a day with two healthy snacks. I have read on here that keeping hydrated will aid your weight loss as your body needs fluids to flush the fat out. The whole reason we are doing this is to get rid of that fat so days when I am struggling and really have no desire to drink, I make an effort as I keep thinking if I drink more, I will flush more fat out
  9. Here in the uk we have a B12 injection every 12 weeks, its free on the Nhs. Thank you for posting about this, although I am not suffering, it is good of you to raise awareness of this possible issue for others, hope you feel better soon.
  10. I also use a pill box with the days written on them. They cost £1 over here in one of our £1 shops ( don't know if you have an equivalent over there?) so very cheap! I hate taking them, really I do but I take them every morning with my first cup of tea, that way I remember but also its just easier to do it and get it out of the way.
  11. I agree, I also used to compare myself with similar weight people who started around the same time as I did, It has driven me mad in the past that I was losing so slowly compared to others. I have lost 38lbs since surgery and people similar to me have lost up to 60! However, I am also a realist so I just carry on eating protein, drinking fluids and walking every day. I am very very grateful that I have lost 38lbs in the last three months as I could not have achieved that on my own, no way! Keep doing what you are doing, it will work out in the end x Also, check out the pic below, it tells you what the guidelines are for how much weight is reasonable to lose according to your starting weight.
  12. With your positive attitude, you will sail through your surgery, no doubt about it.
  13. I also can no longer eat any kind of potatoe, no chips (fries to you americans) no mash, no crisps
  14. I am a typical English girl who loves cup of tea but no more! I can still drink it but it tastes strange and I no longer enjoy it like I used to
  15. I actually feel thinner and look thinner! I love the way I am at the moment and I have a lot more to lose so things can only get better
  16. I'm 3 months and I eat about 1200 - 1400 a day, no problems.
  17. Have you thought about Mexico? a lot of people on here save a great deal of money by going there for their surgery.
  18. Wow, you look amazing and you also look very toned, champion job!
  19. I know you live in America, but I seriously wish you were my next door neighbour, I love your humour!
  20. Same as a lot of people on here, mine started this week, just around 12 weeks after surgery. Losing lots I take all my vitamins, including Biotin.
  21. I was just wondering if most people don't have scales that tell you this information?
  22. I have only told my immediate family and my best friend. Anyone else that asks I just say I am following a very low calorie diet and it is working! Also, regarding the scars from surgery, if anyone asks in the future, I will say it was from having my gallbladder out, which is true but I had it done 15 years ago lol. One other thing, here in the uk you can have the surgery done for free on the Nhs if you go through many hoops and it takes about 18 months to two years. Some people take offence that you have what they would class as non essential surgery and that it means in their eyes that you are a burden on the Nhs. That's obviously false as statistics show I will be much less of a burden once I lose all that weight and won't need diabetic meds and high blood pressure meds etc in the future.
