  1. I am 6 days post op and i was sitting at work and just realized that my stomach feels numb. Between one of my larger bruises and one of the smaller ones. I don't think that it was like this?? Maybe it was. It is about 2 inches above my belly button. Very Strange I think? Oh and my stomach by the incisions has been getting itchy, healing up pretty good, but still very bruised. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks Sue

    Numbness does anyone have this

oh thank you for your reply. I've been thinking so much about this because it has really been bothering me. maybe because i was so bloated from the gases it was like that from the beginning and i didn't realize. I'm happy to hear that i am not the only one. Thanks Sue

    1 week post band

I was also banded on July 31st, and boy do i agree with you about that gas. I didn't expect it to be as bad as it was. I guess everyone is different and some people don't have it that bad. I am on full liquids now as per my doctors instructions. Today was the first day in 2weeks that i really felt like having a normal meal. I guess that will come with time. I too am doing the right thing but getting kinda down about it. Sue
  4. Ok Elizabeth I just wanted to say look how much you have lost already. It is very hard, I know I am 6 days post op and sick of the liquids. Keep visiting this site, it really does help. We are all in the same boat, we have all gone to this extreme because if we could have done it by ourselves we would have. This is a wonderful tool that we have. Hang in there down 32lbs :w00t: thats great I bet you are feeling better when you put that pair of pants on. Stay Strong Sue

    I'm just so hungry.

Hi Angel P, I was also banded by Dr. Geiss, i was banded the following day 7/31/08. Have you tried the whey Protein mix from Vitamin World? I got the vanilla praline and its pretty good. You can also mix a little with some vanilla yogart. Also try fozen yogart. I was never a fan of frozen yogart but it beats not having anything really tasty. When is your follow up appointment? Mine is 8/14/08. Sue
  9. I really feel for you. My surgery was on 7/31 and i was fine the day after the surgery but then on the 2nd day. Boy i was in pain. Not from the surgery but the gas. It didn't have anywhere to go. I keept walking and i thing the thing that finally helped me the most was a heating pad. I layed on my couch propped up with pillows and put a heating pad on my tummy. I think btwn the walking and that it helped break the gas up a bit. Feel better. Sue

    5 days post op

cbhill12- I had my surgery four days ago, i feel pretty yucky at times. LOTS of gas. But I just keep thinking of the bigger picture. Like someone else wrote, just think of how good you are going to feel a year from now 50-100lbs lighter!! I know its hard and but just try to hang in there, thank goodness you have a supportave husband and family. You may want to call your doctor and let them know exactly how you feel. Everyone is different and reacts differently to surgical procedures. This is a major surgery and its going to take time to get back on your feet. I am going to go back to work tomorrow, i don't know that i am 100% ready, but they do not know what i had done so i really can not take more time off. I am lucky i do bookkeeping, i really am not on my feet at all. What type of diet does your doctor have you on? What I do is time my meals every 2 1/2 hours. I have a protein shake, i have a cup of soup, i"ll lhave a scoop of frozen yogart. I have also mixed the cream of chicken soup with the cream of potato. I put in a blender to make sure all of the chunks are gone, add 1 cup of skim milk and mix. This may help a little because it is a cream soup which is a little more filling. (it depends on what type of diet your doc has you on) Also keep sipping water, and oh sugar free frozen fruit pops, their great and they give you someting to even chew on if you miss that. I hope some of the ideas i gave you help a little. I'm sure you'll be back on your feet in no time!!!!! Sue
  11. I am two days post op, I felt hungry so i had a little cream of chicken soup. Only about 1/2 cup. I have a pain in my chest now. I just wonder when this will go away. I don't understand, i feel like i am hungry so i eat something(liquid) and when i do i get this pain. This feels pretty bad. Anybody have the same experience? But the weird thing is i don't feel full i just get this pain. Help

    Pain in chest

Thank you so much for your suggestions. My husband says the same thing, its probably the gas still stuck. Boy oh boy this is worse then the incisions. I just took a hot shower and let the how water hit my back(i didn't turn around) and that seems to have helped a little bit. I guess time is the answer. I do think i need to slow down on the liquids. My only problem is that i was feeling hungry. I am going to try some more walking.

    Time for the first pics

    Wow you look great congratulations!
  15. Well yesterday was my new birthday. I finally did it. The surgery went well. I am a little bruised and in a little of pain, but it sure isn't as bad as i had thought it would be. What a great feeling that i am finally on my way DOWN. Good luck to all that will be banded shortly.
  16. Hi, I also had a hernia repair done that i did not know that i had. My surgery was July 31st. I am still feeling achy, I have some chest pain from the gas, I have been trying to walk as much as possible. Congratulations to you. We are on our way DOWN

    Sharp pain in Sternum area?

I was banded yesterday and i have that pain in my chest also. I have found that walking really helps. Also if while you are walking pat your chest gently. This helps me burp and it feels better. Although the burping hurst a little. I was told that the gas x won't help this type of gas pain because it is because of the gas the use to inflate your tummy so they can do the surgery. anyhow try the walking and patting maybe that will help a little.

Me the day after my surgery

Well I did it. I had my surgery. I am in a little bit of pain, not bad though. Well not as bad as i had thought it would be. My tummy has 6 incisions, three of them have purple bruises. Sal took a picture of my stomach for me. I don't know how much i weigh. I weighed 226 just before surgery yesterday. Angel and Jerry, my dad and of course Sal were up to see me last night. I have pain in my chest but that is because of the gas they had to put in me to expand my stomach. It helps when i walk so that is what i have been doing. Sal had to bring a step stool upstairs for me just so i could get into bed. Its hard to get up and get down. Once i am there i am ok though. TOmorrow is the fair in Sayville, so i plan on going there to walk around a bit. Its also JOyces bridal show but i am going to miss it. I didn't think i would feel up to that. Katelyn is getting better not as homesick. SHe has 2 more weeks. I'm so happy because she told me she finished one of the books she had to read for school, and she is working on one of the other ones. Well thats it for today. We'll see how tomorrow goes. I am finally on my way DOWN:smile::redface::eek:

    Surgery Day July 31, 2008

Well my surgery time was 3:30 and they asked me to be there at 2:00, but this am they called and asked me to come in at 1:30. That made me happy, because i have to say i was dissappointed when they told me my surgery wasn"t until 3:30 in the afternoon. I was pretty hungry all day yesterday. Last night I strained the broth from chicken soup and i ate that, it was much better then the boulion cube alone. Sal at the goodies in the soup. I feel a little anxioux it is 12:00 and we will leave in about 45 min. My weight this am was 225.00. I don"t feel hungry at all right now, i haven't since i had my broth last night. I nice cold drink would be good though. Well I will post tomorrow when i get home as long as i feel up to sitting here. Well here it goes. :tongue2:

  22. Just wondering if there is anyone out there that used slimfast for their preop protein shake? I am 3 days away from my band:smile: and i have been using the slimfast optima shakes twice a day. My nutritionist had told me to use medifast or Whey protein shakes from gnc but the slimfast is so much more convient. I know they have a bit more sugar then the other two shakes. I don't know if i should switch for the last couple of days prior to surgery. The closer it gets the more nervous i am getting. Sombody please get back to me. Thank you

Day 7 on pre op---day before my surgery

Well tomorrow is the big day. My weight this am was 226.0. Today has been the hardest so far. The protein shakes really do fill me and i don't have this hungry feeling. So far today I have had 3 ice pops(sugar free) 2 chicken boulion cubes, one glass of pinapple juice and a cup of green rasberry crystal light tea. Not enough!!! This will all be worth it. I can not wait to feel better. Have more energy. I have to remember to take pictures tonight.
