Sorry for the length of this.

I'm not going to preach what you should eat or do - This is some things to try to put you back in weightloss mode. You are not alone.

You are over a year out. your weight loss seems a bit different ..right?

After a year - You can hold more food volume and the weight loss slows down. (cut carbs they can sabotage your weight loss)

Weight loss after a year out is NOT a cookie cutter answer. Dialing in your diet ( finding the calorie and macros) will be trial and error.

If going back to basic works for your body then yes do it! - If basics are not working here is an option:

TDEE CALCULATOR and MYFITNESSPAL LINK - ( log your food to know if you are hitting your calorie, Protein and carbohydrate goals to dial in your diet)

    https://tdeecalculator.net/

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfitnesspal.android&hl=en

TDEE calculator gives you your calories and macros based on your sex, age, weight, height and activity level.

fill your information (omit body fat%) Click [calculate]

The first number is your maintenance calories (This is not your calories for weight loss.) more steps to follow)

Scroll down to macronutrients you will see three tabs.

    [maintaining] [cutting] [bulking]

click [cutting] this is your weight loss calories and macros -

Your calories are a 500 deficit from maintaining. you are given three options of carb ratios (low, moderate and high)

Start with the low carb macros to see where your body starts losing weight.

Side note: My personal experience, Raising my Protein goal and eating raw and steamed veggies with my protein is giving me the sensation of full.

The tdee calculator - I adjusted my activity level one setting back from my real activity level - It has kicked me back into weight loss mode. Its been trial and error dialing in my diet.

I hope you find what works for you,

    Jenn

Thank you so, so much. I just checked out the tdee calculator and entered my info. I'm going to use the micronutrients suggested under the cutting (Lowe carb) tab and see where that takes me. Do you take any supplements to help with the loss (fish oil, Apple cider vinegar, etc)

  2. Ok, so I am almost 14 months Post-op and for the past month I have stopped losing. In fact, I go up-and-down the same couple of pounds weekly. I find that I am eating more carbs and less Protein. In general, i am able to eat more food than I could those 1st few months after surgery. Has anyone re-set their sleeve by returning to the diet that we were following right after surgery? I'm wondering if I should go back to the liquid diet for a week or so and then follow up with pureed foods? Has anyone done this? I want to get back to the point where my stomach feels full faster. Any tips on re-setting the sleeve? Also, I've never been great about getting in all the Water. I probably get about 32 ounces a day at most. Has anyone seen a big difference in weight loss when they increased their water intake?

It has been my experience, that all negative side effects can be traced back to behavior - I realize not everyone is that fortunate. I was suffering from reflux/heartburn this last summer but it miraculously reduced when I cut back/cut out on coffee and wine (and ended a toxic relationship - coincidence?, maybe!).

I am currently doing a 6 week transformation and I am so not hungry on that program - ha. It is like all very lean Protein and veggies with small portion of healthy carbs 2x a day (with Breakfast and lunch). It seems like so much food, but really it is the type of food that is so satiating - it has been a good reminder to me that following bariatric rules actually works (including for people who have not had WLS!)

Hi, What is the 6 week transformation? I am at a stall and I need to do something to jump start the weight loss

    Hey guys :)

Mom2Tess- yes we could be twins here! I'll try to keep you posted and you with me if you don't mind so we can maybe learn from each other-

So I saw the NP, Nut and surgeon yesterday- they think I'm not eating enough at 800-1000 calories and exercising too much at 4x30-40 minutes a week cardio and resistance with the patient 2-3x per week-
So they said not to look at calories, just eat 2 shakes in between 3-6oz meals each day making good choices each time. Of course keep taking my Vitamins, fluids of 64oz+, and keep Protein between 80-100g daily.
So I will try this- although not counting calories scares me- they said not to even log my food! That may be tough but I really have no other choice but to try what they say-
They also suggested having my RMR calculated and having a DEXA scan to see what it all looks like so I know where to keep my calories etc. The NP said she had heard of a new scanning that they can do now (but the name escaped her- she's looking into it)- that gives even more info than the RMR and DEXA composition testing. Has anyone heard of anything like this? I would have asked the surgeon but I saw the NP last-
so I'm going to look into that too-
So at least I have a few things to try- I'll keep you all posted and of course if anyone thinks of anything send the suggestions my way please

Hi, thanks for updating. I will be going in October so I will let you know what they say. What are RMR and DEXA composition? Never heard of these.

Whoa! You are my hero! You look amazing! Congrats on all of your successes- you've clearly won this battle - How much weight did you lose? Teach me your tricks? I am 9 months out and only have lost 55 lbs since my high weight- I've been stuck for 5 months- following everything to a T- exercise, Protein, Fluid, vitamins- I am just completely resigned to not going any further I guess- but I'm still 185 and need to be closer to 130 since I'm only 5'4"- Did you ever get stuck like this? How long did it take to lose your weight?

This could be mr writing this post. I am also 5'4" ive lost 57 pounds dincr my high point and i now way 183. Pretty similar, huh? I am 11 months out from surgery and I have basically been in a stall for a couple of months. It is very frustrating to see other people lose well over a 100 pounds in the time it's taken me to lose 57. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for those who have done so well, I am just frustrated with my lack of loss. I know I should be ecstatic with 57 pounds gone, and I am grateful. I just need to lose more. When you visit your doctor would you please post any tips that they give you? I would really appreciate it. As I said, it sounds like you and I are in a very similar situation. Thanks

  6. You look fantastic. Would you mind sharing your routine, such as typical daily food intake (calories, carbs, etc) and typical exercise routine? I would really appreciate any help you can give me. I am almost one year out and only down about 55 pounds. I've been in a stall for 6 or 7 weeks. did you always drink lots of Water? Did you eat a lot of Protein? I was trying to read the guidelines you posted from your surgeons but I am not able to read them as they are too small. thanks for any help you can give me

  7. I completely understand what you are saying. I think most of us are afraid of gaining back the weight. I would probly just let go of a few of the lads are size items and keep the others. On another note, I am stuck for over 5 weeks at the same weight i am afraid I will not reach goal. Can you give me any pointers on how you finally broke through? What is that Keto thing you did? Thank you for any help you can give me

  8. Thank you so, so much for your response. It really helps because I feel like my path sounds a lot like yours. I am a slow slow loser as well and hit multiple stalls along the way. I am not great about exercising but I have been putting in more of an effort the past 8 weeks. Im definitely more active because as you lose weight it becomes so much easier to move. I do make a conscious effort to take stairs, park further away and just plain get up and walk around more often. I am definitely going to increase my Protein intake and Water intake. I think that will make a big difference. Thanks again for your help. Congratulations on your success

  9. I was just inspired by this because it gave me hope. I am about 9 months out and kind of disappointed because I've been stuck at a 52 pound weight-loss for 5 weeks. I thought it would be more by-now. Believe me, I know losing the 52 pounds is a good thing but I am really not near my goal and I only have maybe 11 weeks to go before I reach the year mark. Knowing that you continued to lose weight after one year makes me feel better. May I ask what your diet looked like or consisted of during the weight-loss period? Did you drink tons of Water and eat lots of Protein? Did you restrict carbs quite a bit? lastly, how often do you think you exercised? Sorry for all the questions but I am at a standstill. Do you know of a way to get out of this platto? Congratulations on your success And I appreciate any advice you can give me.

  10. Lol, I knew the minute I used the word "only" that someone was going to call me out on it. I hear ya! However, I am pretty frustrated. I've been stuck at the same weight for more than a month. This was a huge step to take to have the end results be a 50 pound loss. I know everyone is different and loses at different rates but I really need some tips on how to jumpstart loss when you're in a stall. Do you have any advice?

  11. Wow! Congratulations, you look great. You're surgery was just about the same time as mine. You have hit 100 I'm stuck at 51. Do you have any tips you can share with me? what is your diet like? how many Proteins versus carbs? also, do you exercise a lot and drink a lot of Water? thanks in advance for your help keep up the good work And please share any tips with me that you can
