Lauren PB got a reaction from Punkysmom in Poop problems
Hey all going on my 4th week (Surgery was 03/27). In the beginning I had no urge to poop so starting April 7th was taking benafiber and Miralax here and there. Since I started puree I had the urge more, but last night I ended up bleeding rectally. Not a ton but some. Today it got stuck, took a glycerine suppository and little more blood. I am very scared and don't know what to do. It is making me push a lot and so afraid of hemroids. Suggestions please.

Hey, so my friend is super extreme strict. Instead of having premiere shakes as Snacks she uses one to replace a meal like Breakfast, lunch is a salad with no dressing or small amount of olive oil, snacks in betweem maybe a clemetine or a small Protein Bar, dinner is usually fish of "high quality" she says like blackened salmon with fresh spinach or sea bass and she will only eat about 4 ounces of the fish and a little of the veggie. Also does capers and asparagus depending on the meal. And a late night snack would be a few slices of cucumber. Lots of Water throughout the day and if she gets tired of plain water she adds crystal light. She is like carb free. She walks and does the elliptical sometimrs, but not crazy exercise. She is to the extreme with a lot.

I feel you are doing amazing and I pray to become as light as you one day and have a baby too ♡

Lauren PB got a reaction from ursusmaritimus in Weight loss vs fertility treatments
Hey Kristin. My husband and I have been trying for over 4 yrs. I went through 5 IUIS and an IVF. My highest weight was 320, and then went down to 275ish on my own I decided to go through gastric sleeve. I have PCOS and had polyps in my uterus. My surgeon told me as I lose the weight PCOS symptoms should decrease and fertility should increase, hopefully. Plus I would be a healthier mother for my child and little to no complications during pregnancy. Believe me I want a child more than anything I'm 32 yrs old and my surgeon says I shouldn't try again for 18 months so I will be 33 and half when I start again. Do not give up. I say go through the weight loss surgery, it will make thing easier and from there try again for that baby. My mom had me at 38 going on 39 and my sister at 41 going on 42 . I don't know if I will get pregnant in the end, but I know I will have done everything in my power to try and conceive. My husband and I are also putting money aside each month for adoption in case we choose that route. I want to be a mom more than anything. And trust me I know how hard it aches to want to be a mom. If you ever want to talk let me know. ♡. My email is lmpangburn41785@aol.com.

I have been doing benafiber in my shakes daily and has helped. Still not the best poop, but if it feels like it isn't coming out and you are having trouble glycerine suppositories are like a miracle worker for me. Im on my 3rd week. Went for the first time Saturday and again tonight, so benafiber has to be helping a little. But like many say, it is like pebbles for me, not gigantic poops. I am on full liquids still and hear premiere Protein can also bind you, and is the type of shake I am on.

Stalls happened and they are frustrating as hell but just keep doing what you need to do and you will break them. I stalled a lot early on. I stalled at 3 weeks for 10 days. I stalled right around 6 weeks and again around 8 when I went on a regular diet. Protein, Exercise and Fluids are the way to do it.
I have noticed that once I hit 3 months I started losing more weight. My NUT says that happens sometimes, when the swelling is down and you can eat more sometimes the weight drops off faster. I've lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks after losing 1-2 pounds a week steady before that.

I would imagine that the more you have to lose, the greater your loss will be on a monthly basis. I started with only 70-80 lbs to lose, so it will go much slower than someone that has 100+ lbs to lose. Keep it in perspective and know the numbers of the calories in vs calories out don't lie.

Lauren, please remember that as we lose and exercise we are building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. Try taking your measurements and focusing on the changes you see there, also pay attention to your clothing sizes, I'm 1 year post-op (Surgiversary is April 18) and have only lost 56 lbs, but am not focusing on only my weight am also taking my measurements and being proud of the clothing sizes that I have shrunk to. Keep your head up, it may not be noticeable on the scale but your body is changing. [emoji256]

You've lost 40 pounds in nearly a month!! That's great!!!
I have been PERFECT with my Protein and Water intake. And I gained at about 2 weeks (3pounds). I'm factoring in my traveling though and. Trying to take it in stride. I was definilty swollen after my flight, my fingers were tight and puffy. I was in Disney all week in the heat walking 15000 steps a day pushing a heavy stroller and felt swollen each night.
And yesterday I got my period!!!! So I'm hoping that is a big factor and I will see a drop. I will usually gain 2-5 pounds water Weight PMS, I just wasn't thinking about it.
Im staying at my in laws for a few days and hoping to hop on a scale for some good news. It would really suck to go to Disney, following the plan completely and staying active (I did the eliptical a couple of days BEFORE the parks) and see NO loss. But I will say that I look better...and feel great too.
Someone here said to take measurements so that all of your progress isn't just measured on the scale. I've read from some vets that during their stalls, they have lost inches and clothing sizes.

Mine has been a lot longer. I have tried Miralax, bensfiber in my shakes, and even a suppository on Saturday. Saturday was my first poop in like 2 weeks! I hear poop problems are the worst, but when we start transitioning to food it gets better. I am doing benafiber still and if I don't poop by Wednesday another suppository ugh. I am hoping this changes as I get into the puree stage on Saturday.

My weight loss stalled in week 2 and i have been a little upset about it. And today I even gained a lb. I know it's normal and there is usually a stall in week 3 (which has just begun for me). Knowing it's normal doesn't make it any less frustrating. I only lost about 12 lbs after surgery before the stall hit. I was hoping for a lot more given how few calories I'm consuming each day. It has also made it clear to me that there is no way that I could have done this without the surgery. We have to remind ourselves that we're in this for the long haul and that if we keep focusing on the Protein, all will be well.

Thank you Lauren- it's so sweet of you to reply I'm so sorry you have the PCOS stuff too- good news for you is that I had my son with no problems (he's now 16- yikes! How did THAT happen?!)- and although we suffered 4 miscarriages before I was diagnosed, we put me on met form in and the 6th time it worked like a charm! We ended up having a crazy pregnancy but it had nothing to do with the PCOS - and our daughter is now 9 1/2! She's healthy and sweet as can be- so you will have babies- I just WILL happen- you have to have faith -
Now I don't have the hirsituism. I never had the hyperandrogenism with the excess hairs- I'm a really fair redhead- and my cycles have always been generally normal. They found my PCOS because of the pearly "bag of pearls" appearance of my ovary during routine sonograms during my miscarriages. Then we found my insulin resistance and my cholesterol started to go wacky. But I'm telling you the Metformin has saved my life! To not did it give me our daughter but it stopped me from gaining as fast as I was.
And you're right about weight taking longer to fall off the lower your weight is. I guess that's just what we have to accept but I think 6 pounds in 2 months is ridiculous. Like you I didn't go into this for 37 pounds- I needed to lose 100 pounds.
I really hope it's going to happen like you said where you don't lose for a few months and then it all comes off in a whoosh! I keep praying- hard! Like all day! My rosary is starting to fall apart .
But you're doing great! At 3 weeks out and having lost 16 pounds- especially after losing 20 pounds before your surgery! You're ROCKING IT! Those who lose a ton before surgery end up not losing a much the first few months- so way to go!
And PLEASE- ask your friend who lost the 124 pounds in a year how she did it! How much did she eat, how often, how much Protein, Water, exercise? Ok- sorry- I'm just full of questions!
Keep doing what your doing- you're already wildly successful- go Lauren, GO!
    Keep us posted!

Hey guys. I was sleeved March 27th and released March 29th. Feeling a little better today (4 days post op), but boy were those original gas pains a nightmare. Also one of the hardest parts was right after surgery how dry my mouth was and we couldnt sip Water until our contrast study the next morning. I got to wet my lips with a little sponge, which was really nice. I was really nervous for contrast study the next day, but the radiologist was really sweet and the barium wasn't too bad. I was burping all day March 28th and 29th, but didn't pass rel gas until March 30th. (I mostly pass gas while sleeping at night.) I am trying to get my fluids in as best as I can. Today I got 30 ml of whey Protein mixed with Water in. I also hate the ompizalole beads in apple sauce yuck. Trying to walk alot too. About to have some broth too. I notice when I swallow the water and broth my body feels tigh and uncomfy for a few seconds and then releases and I feel ok. I asked the nurse and she said it was from swollen esophagus anf stomach, but it will get better. I am trying to walk as well and tonight as per doctor I took my dressing off my incisions leaving steri-strips. One steri-strip came off, but seems ok. A little raw so I put a big bandage over it for now. I hope all your fellow sleevers are doing well. Hopefully I will keep feeling better each day. ♡

You're okay. It is normal to stall at 2-3 weeks post op. I went up a pound. Just keep doing your program. You are doing amazing! The weight is coming off. I thought the hunger would disappear but it didn't. I eat when I'm hungry but only a few bites and I am satisfied. I eat a little less at my next meal and journal my intake to keep on track. You are doing really well.

I definitely feel you. I am 6 days post op. Im doing pretty good with whey Protein mixed with Water. Dont taste too bad. With water is total of 30 ounces I am getting over the day. And then have few spoonful of chicken broth for dinner. Try to add water in after to try to reach 64 ounces but cant get there yet. It is hard, but each day gets little easier and there is less tightness in my stomach and chest area so hopefully the swelling is going down. I am doing pretty good with walking too. Walked 3 miles today, but very slow. I get most gas at night and have had horrible diarrhea here and there. Been taking calcium citrate chews in morning and night, multi Vitamin chew in morning, and ompriazole in apple sauce in morning. All these taste horrendous lol. I think the hardest part is when I wake in the morning, I feel nauceous and light headed until I have the whey protein mix. Also I do melatonin liquid at night to help me sleep.< br>

Thanks for sharing. I had my surgery on the 28th and I can relate to everything you shared. I think gas pains are worse than the incisions or the stomach itself! Water and walking have really helped! Also, whenever I go to the bathroom, I sit on the toilet which helps as well!
I am feeling a little better each day. On my first day home, I had some dry heaves which were scary and painful. I'm glad to see another person who had the same surgery around the same time! Good luck with your recovery!
