    Time Off

My surgery was on a Monday and I went to work Tuesday of the following week. At the time I felt like it was a little too soon but if I dont go I dont get paid.. Even though I sit at a desk I was very tired. If I had it to do over again I would take two weeks.
  2. I completely understand. I hated eating for probably the first three months after my surgery. I hated that I could only eat certain stuff, I hated that if I took one bite too many I would be in pain, I hated not knowing if it was going to upset my stomach, and I hated how long it took me to eat a small quantity. Now that I'm more familiar with my new stomach I know what to expect so it isn't so bad anymore. I still don't enjoy eating like I used to, but that's fine. I just want eat to live instead of the other way around. I'm now grateful for all of the restrictions.
  3. It took me about 6 weeks.
  4. yes. I feel like a major part of the reason I was overweight in the first place was from years of steroids for asthma. After a year of being off the steroids the weight didnt come down much so I had surgery. Now I'm always worried that i may have to go back on it for an extended period of time. So far since the surgery I've only had to take it for about a week at a time, but I'm always worried that it may cause me to gain again. Luckily that hasn't happened. Maybe it has slowed me down a little but I really can't say for sure. The good thing is that my asthma is much better now so hopefully I can avoid it going further, but it is definitely a concern of mine.

    What questions did you ask?

I had done so much research in advance that I really didn't have any. I kept feeling like I should be asking something but I couldnt think of anything that I really didnt already know. I was just eager to get it done.

    Smoking weed post-op

I smoke and dont have any issues. But I think I waited about two months after surgery before I started again.
  7. I was having that issue so I increased my iron. Helped me tremendously.

    Flight home

I live in Houston and had my surgery in Tijuana. For my return flight I booked my seat in the section with extra room in case I was uncomfortable. I was worried about blood clots so I wore compression socks and moved my legs and feet around often. I also had a plastic bag with me in case I got nauseous and could make it to the restroom. Turns out everything was fine. No trouble at all. Good luck to you!

    Straws

I was avoiding straws at first before I returned to work. When I got back I started drinking out of them just from habit. It was probably a week before I realized what I was doing. I haven't had any issues. I'm one month out.

    Anyone miss food?

I dont miss food but I miss being able to eat with no trouble. I don't mind not being able to eat a lot because I'm rarely hungry. I just miss not having to wait on it to go down, worrying about if I'm going to have one bit too many and be in pain, or having to watch the time to see when I an drink again, etc.
  11. I stopped applying dressing when there was no more fluid coming out. One of them wasnt completely scabbed but it seemed to speed up when I quit covering it.

When will I feel the restriction?

I felt the same way at first but then when I started chewing food I knew for sure my sleeve was working.
  13. Scrambled eggs with a little shredded cheese and salsa at 3 weeks with no issues.
  14. I traveled alone and didnt have a single issue. When I left the hotel I took my luggage with me. There was a safe in my hospital room but I ended up not locking anything up. Everything was right where I left it when I came out of surgery. The companions of the other people that had surgery the same day as me checked on me just as much as the staff did. Throughout the whole experience there was never once a time that I thought I should have brought someone with me.
  15. May 1st is my surgery date. This all happened very quickly for me. I started researching the sleeve about 3 months ago and now its a reality. I finally got my husband on board and the time off from work so I paid my deposit today. Even though I have researched endlessly and done a tone of planning as soon as I hit send on the deposit I got extremely nervous. Its a good thing I don't have too long to wait because my nerves couldn't handle it!

    Anxiety kicking in

It went well. Actually Better then I expected. I'm sore but other than that I'm fine.
  17. That's terrible! I would be very upset.
  18. I only told my husband, my cousin, and a friend. It's not that is a secret, I just don't want to hear anyone's opinion, I have no problem with telling them after its done if the subject comes up.
  19. I paid extra for the seats with extra room and picked one near the restroom. I haven't gone yet so I don't know it this was necessary but I figure its better to be safe than sorry.

    I'm scheduled for May 1st.
  21. I first contacted the office on 3/19 and Im scheduled for 5/1. I probably could have gotten a sooner date but I had something already planned and I didnt want the pre op diet to interfere.

    Apps

I tried Baritastic but I got frustrated with it because it wont sync correctly with my Garmin. Other than that it seems pretty good.
